Stepping into 2014- walking in My Shoes with Mooloo

Mum and Dad came to see me and love the shop. Brought me a bag of tablecloths etc from France.
Closed early, a little later then planned. Happened to witness an old lady fall into the road. Was first on the scene to help. Wanted to call ambulance but she wouldn't let me. Got three other people driving past to help me pick her up- carefully, slowly, and. Took her home. She insisted she was ok, but she couldn't walk, even with her frame thingy, so I got a chair out of her house, sat her there on the pavement - and phoned her family. One of the other ladies followed and helped me, and also stayed till help came. Told the daughter what I saw, where and how etc and told her I think they need an ambulance. I had moved her reluctantly. I just hope that the lady will be ok. I fear that she may have broken her hip. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Wonder what today will bring?
I have several jackets sleeves to shorten for a lady who seems to have become my best customer this week. She loves her designer clothes that's for sure! Nerve racking unpicking a £1,000 suit!
But she is delighted with my work thus far, so I should remember I am good enough! Kick self doubt into touch as I wield my trusty unpicker!!
Have a good day everyone! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well yesterday was quieter, but still plenty of work came in, with some bigger jobs to tackle.
My merchandising paraphernalia for the sewing machines arrived. So I took time to stick the stickers in the window, and hang the bunting, and write up the prices on the leaflets.
At least no little old ladies falling in the road to deal with again.
I hear she badly broke her hip, and it took 2 hours till the ambulance arrived!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

2 hours:eek:the poor lady she must have been in so much pain.I don't know what is happening to this country0 -
We live in the far south of the county and it physically takes 30 - 40minutes at the best of times. I had first responders recently and there is a good network. It sounds like it was a non urgent ambulance in which case you can wait up to 8 hours:eek:I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
The ambulance crew were furious as they were sitting on standby and didn't get the call till appx 30 mins before they arrived. Coming from Northsmpton that was putting their foot down. Call Center fault if you ask me.
Lady is seriously unwell. Her daughter came into the shop today with a huge bunch of flowers for me. I said she shouldn't have. She said if I hadn't been there her mum could have been hit by a car. Beggers belief though. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I despair of the NHS.
I was taken ill last weekend. I don't think I've ever been so ill as an adult that I've needed a home visit but I literally couldn't stand and my partner insisted on dialing 111. After speaking to him and trying to talk to me - in between large bouts of vertigo they decided I was their highest priority for a GP home visit and told me they would arrange it. So we waited...and waited -and no-one came, no phone call- nothing.
I called to complain on Monday-they confirmed they had faxed the local medical facility and I needed to complain to them........so I did. I now have to wait five working days for them to call me back. Any bets as to if they actually will ?
I was so sick I could have been passed out on the floor alone -(I told OH to go visit his Mum who was widowed the week before as the doctor was on their way fortunately he said no) so I can well believe the ambulance fiasco.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Time is flying by so fast.
Working 6 days a week at the shop doesn't give me much time to do anything else.
But as DGD went to her Mums this weekend, I got this morning off to have a lie in, then went out for a spin in a friends Two seater open topped car, and let the wind blow the cobwebs away. Had lunch by a canal before collecting DGD and coming home.
I see an early night coming on as well! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning, from a dull Brackley. Wish I was sleeping better. Still feel very tired. Need to do a little shopping after work tonight. We are out of washing up liquid, nearly out of milk, and bread. I should have made a loaf last night but I was so tired I forgot.
DGD tried to say that she was ill this morning, and couldn't go to school. It's a battle every morning these days.
I told her she has to go to school. If she is poorly the teacher will call me. But that I have to open the shop as people are coming to collect their things I have altered. I am praying that neither of us succumb to anything this winter. ( although realistically it may happen).
I have asked DS's GF to help me out this weekend, to be a presence in the shop while I run my first course.
I bought some remnants yesterday from the Fsbric shop in Kidlington. So they can all make a cream bag, and decorate it. £1 covered the piece and will make 6 bags (I hope!).
I also brought some Christmas fabric.
Eek the big C is coming and I will need to prepare!
As we all know, organisation is my nemisis! So I really have to work hard at that. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well DGD was obviously fine, no calls from school. And she wanted chocolate after school.
The day flew by so fast. A bit quieter day, with fewer people through the door, but still have plenty of jobs to do. Started on the Versace suits I was putting off. Actually the first one was very simple to do in the end.
Replacement zip arrived in the post so was able to do a fleece jacket. Several pairs of trousers altered.
Two new jobs. Well several things for two people.
Three courses coming up, paid for by one lady. Curtains collected from the weekend sewing.
So a decent amount of money to bank. All good!
The opposition came to see me. She is one of the local home sewing ladies. She's concerned I will put her out of business!
I don't want to do that, but I said I was sure her customers would stay loyal to her. My prices are cheaper she said. I said that I worked them out based on how long it takes to do a job. It only takes about 20 minutes to replace a zip after all, and about 7 or 8 minutes to shorten jeans. She nearly chocked! Apparantly I'm very fast.
I said it's having the right equipment, and I have been sewing for over 40 years.
She likes doing prom dresses etc so I said if I get a lot in, I will pass some over! ( wether I will or not will depend on how busy I am of course.)
She asked if I made things, yes, I do, if I get the time, but the alterations are taking up all my time at the moment.
Cooking dinner, sausages, mash and onion gravy. ( oh and peas). Yum
Comfort food. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
