Stepping into 2014- walking in My Shoes with Mooloo

I went to bed early. Around 9ish.
Slept reasonably well, only up three times. For me that is good.
I have had my shower, and several cups of tea. Made some cous cous to take to work for my lunch as sick of sandwiches. I now have a fridge in the shop so that will make life go a little easier.
I'm hoping that I get a good run on the jobs still in, and manage some time to do some projects that I had shoved to the back of the list!
I hope that I will soon get used to working every day, and can see again in the evenings to make stock for the shop! It's good that I am busy, but I do still need to add to the stock or it will not attract attention.
So that may have to be done at home in the evenings.
DGD is nearly ready for school. Concerned she is only snacking and not having a proper breakfast. ( cold sausages and youghurt tubes!! Yuk).
Time to get ready for the school run. Have a good day everyone. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Evening. Another positive day at work. Although not as much money in today, plenty of jobs finished, ready for collection over the next few days. Still several more jobs also to do, and two people booking onto workshops.
A private lesson squeezed inbetween two workshops for a little girl of 7. Who has her own machine and wants to make clothes!
Some very interesting conversations with some customers about "the opposition", where I was not slanderous or anything, but I can't say they were getting 100% praise.
Pricing, timing issues, appointment problems, fitting problems....
I was very diplomatic.
I don't want to tread on toes after all, but a little healthy competition won't harm. There are more than one Hairdresser in the town after all.
One lady said she'd never seen my adverts and I said that's because my work has always been word of mouth. She said I should advertise in a Little book that goes around all the houses. I said I might, but at the moment I am full, without the need to advertise. ( politely, not in a boastful way).
I seem to be ticking the right boxes anyway.
DS and his GF came to see me, as they had been at the doctors for blood tests etc.
Their money and HB is still not sorted.
I told them to go see the local MP in her next surgery in the town hall. DS is ill, and very subdued. He is stressed I can tell.
I wonder what a bloody life he is going to have now as GF is high maintenance to say the least, and with a baby on the way. Erm I am not going to think much about it.
dGD is throwing a few Wobblies about rules etc. Time to get back to basics! She's slowly but surely become obsessed with the electronic gadgets and gets a meltdown when tackled to turn them off. Tonight she through a wobbly in the car because I wouldn't go to the shop and buy sweets.
A two year old would have been proud of that one!
I am un impressed, and she has been denied the kindle as well.
If she had carried on she would have lost the chance to go to tea with a school friend, so it's a good job she calmed down.
I won't be held to blackmail by a (nearly) 7 year old. ( even if I revert to blackmail at times.)
Chicken is in the oven, pasta on the stove.
Really basic simple stuff as too tired to do much else. DGD gets hot school dinners, but still says she is starving.
Such is life.

I'm so glad that things are going well for you, Mooloo!
I did a little share/shout out for you on my Facebook page and I have been chatting to a couple of local crafters, so we are going to make it a semi-regular thing, to bolster our 'exposure'
Keep well .

It sound like you are building the base of a solid business building by word of mouth. It does take a while to get used to six days a week but you will soon be able to pace yourself a bit. The time will come when you will be able to employ some help.0

I'm shattered today. Actually relieved that I didn't have any new business in, as I had so much still to do. I started early as DGD went to breakfast club, and I needed to cut some covers out on the big tables.
I closed early ( as advertised, but went for a walk up the street to get the light bulbs as 3 had blown. Although I still need another two now for the lights on the middle floor.
I popped into the charity shop and picked a few things off of their £ rail. For Upcycling at a later date.
dGD has gone to a friends for tea, and I am going to see if I can get an hours sleep while I can! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Didn't get to go for a rest. Tried to sort out a few other things online instead. Door bell and microwave ordered for the shop. One as I can't work upstairs and leave the door unlocked when I am on my own, and the other so I can heat my meals!
Another booking for the sewing course next weekend. Really pleased with the uptake. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Mooloo, I saw a project in a magazine today that I thought might be good sellers for you/ or could be small projects people could make in your lessons? It was basically something that hangs off the back of a chair ( the material was attached to a small coat hanger) which had pockets for sewing supplies ( although it could easily be adapted for other purposes- I have seen similar things for putting jewellery and cosmetics in),
This was in the 'women's weekly' not something I get often, but I bought 3 magazines for £1.60 in a packet and it was one of the three.
I could easily scan the two pages and email it to you if you can't get the magazine or just want to have a look at it?0 -
I will see if I can get a mag today. If not, then yes please!
Although finding time to make had been difficult since I opened my doors, I haven't stopped with alterations!
I have to close early today, as my embroidery machine is ready for collection, and as it is a Disney it would be handy for the children's workshop on Saturday morning.
The repair chap is going to send me info about being an agent for him, as well. ( may get me a few extra pennies- I will have to see).
I went to bed earlier last night and left my alarm as late as possible. Really needed sleep. I did wake only a few times, so do feel a bit better.
I have to be careful as my neck and arm are grumbling a lot, from constant use. I hope they will settle. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Sickness at school has meant DGD has had to be collected early, and I have had to close the shop. Hopefully she is not too poorly, and normal service can be resumed tomorrow. I've warned her Mum she may have to have her tomorrow for me. She tried making excuses of course.
We will see.
I've brought home the job I was working on, so I can finish it and rang the customer to tell her incase I am not there tomorrow.
It means I won't be quite so busy though so maybe that's a blessing in disguise. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Busy, busy.
Today I take my first steps into teaching the workshops! Children's session to make a tote bag with ribbons, buttons and such.
On the family side, DGD is with her Mum, till tea time.
DS and his GF brought me round the pictures of the baby's scan.
Twin2, is in a bad place.
Her landlady rang me, she hasn't been home, and so I got hold of her to find she's moved out! Told her she had to go and get her stuff and tell her etc.
The woman rang again, telling me she's left owing her hundreds of pounds, has moved into a bad house, with known drug addicts, she's lost masses of weight, and thinks she might even be on the game!
All I need to hear!
Oh and she found a positive pregnancy test, etc and think she's had an abortion! ( I didn't tell her I knew that one!).
So what can I do?
Do I complain to Social Services that their duty of care is not happening?
Do I just sit back and let her ruin her life, if it wasn't ruined before?
Do I make her come home?
I don't know what I can do?
Except concerntrate on my little shop, and build my business for My future and DGD's.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
