Heading for a sanction
Comments

its not counted as a job. If you are looking for work you shouldnt get a sanction. If they get funny say thats all there was available to apply for. Make them prove you havent looked for work if they get arsy.
they get around the by adding the "apply for some many jobs a week" in your "agreement" they ask/make you sign, once signed it becomes a sanctionable offence if you fail to do it.
@OP apply for anything, go on the dirct gov site, click on a job and if they have an email address on there fire off an email to them, you have then applied for a real job, you need to play the game, they are not trying to help you get a job, they are just trying to beat on you to make themselves and the public feel better about themselves.0 -
Go wider then.
agreed, you can apply for the other side of the world and they would be happy, as long as they can tick their boxes that you have followed there daft rules they are happly, it doesn't matter that it makes you depression and probably makes it harder to find a job as you end up playing their game instead of really trying to find a job that you can get to and that you have a chance of getting.0 -
CVLibrary? I was getting emails over Xmas day and boxing day telling me that there were 10+ new vacancies matching my CV.Professional Data Monkey

If it is a slowdown over Xmas I don't see how you would get depression over applying for a job in Scotland, or Wales or NI. Hell I would take it as an opportunity to apply for an awesome job a long way away, never know what might happen.
Next week carry on to the same depressing local area which is working so well.0 -
Need to find 6 jobs to apply for before Thursday, UJ has added 1 job in the last 3 days, Indeed = nowt, Reed = nowt, Local Rag = nowt and have done the physically handing in CV's to every place in my locale.
'Veterans' here have stated that jobs are thin on the ground at this time of year but don't think the JC will see it that way.
Believe me, the JC know the script. The last time I signed on (3 weeks tomorrow) I answered the 'how's the jobsearch going?' with a quick ...'ooh, it's gone very quiet hasn't it. I like to apply for at least one job per day (more than JSAg conditions) but I must admit I'm struggling lately,,blah, blah, blah' My advisor agreed
Coincidentally, I'm sat here 'catching up' and filling in my little grey booklet for the past 3 weeks. I don't doubt some here will be absolutely abhorred at the fact I've been sat on my backside all week relaxing for the festive period (
@ u's ) and not done a single thing to 'earn' my benefits, but you are correct about Indeed, Reed and others auldblerk. I've already spent a few hours this morning trailing through the jobsites and it's gone VERY quiet. Jees, on UJM the only jobs I've seen that I could apply for, I've already applied for! The same jobs keep getting re-advertised time and time again - every couple of days some of them! Am I supposed to keep applying everytime?! I looked on UJM on xmas day - 8 jobs went on that day for my area. 6 of those were for Avon reps the other 2 were cv library(gas engineer and personal banker)iammumtoone wrote: »I apply for jobs I am not qualified for all the time! I wouldn't apply for a brain surgeon but I do apply for anything I think I could do even if I don't have the skills/qualifications listed.
Likewise, to an extent. Sometimes the skills/qualifications are an essential requirement and it would be pointless applying without that particular requirement but if I think I could 'sway the jury' by showing a great deal of interest and enthusiasm in a cover note, then Yes, go for it!0 -

when you have £0 money in the Bank, £0 money to get a bus to the nearest town, and the job you are likey to get at the other side of the country is paying the min wage, it does get a little depressing.
it's easy for you to say go work the other side of the country but where do I live, how do I get there, how do I get my stuff there when I struggle just to find the bus fare to make interview here.0 -
Do you check around company websites? Companies are starting to look for their summer temps (English Heritage and National Trust are adding daily.)
To me, it feels that rather than slowing down, companies are beginning to gear up.0 -

Don't apply for minimum wage jobs. This seems to be the problem on this board, people make excuses, imagining problems before they even arise to the point they don't take any action in the first place.0 -

You really think i go out of my way to apply for min wages jobs if a better paid job is available i could do? I notice you fail to answer how I am to get to the other side of the country for these jobs?
It seems you are the one making daft suggestions, then when you get a decent reply, move on to "people make excuses" not having the money to move house is not an excuse it's a fact.
come on talk sense.0
