Ok, Ok

Another spanner in the works is that if you leave a perfectly good home without a certain destination to go to, you'll be classed as "Intentionally homeless" and the council won't do anything to help you. It'll take ages to sort out housing benefit and council tax benefit too.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

exactly, people that say "move" don't consider these things.
The guy on this thread that told me to "transfer my deposit" is living in another world.0 -
well...26 weeks of a JSA income based claim
if you have 26 weeks as I did on contribution based JSA you have to wait a year, so I got penalised for having a job and building up contributions, you have to love the people that make up the rules :rotfl:
In my opinion, you seem like a person that prefers to sit and moan about the system rather than use all avenues to find a job; some posters have suggested a proactive approach (networking, speculative CVs etc), where the tone of your posts seems hell bent on only finding how to keep the JCA happy. Go on, you know I'm right?
In essence, if the JCA has reason to believe you're serious about looking it matters not so much about numbers of apps.0 -

What I say is correct, you can see that as moaning if you wish.
I have to apply for 6 jobs a week, once I only could find 10 as I previously had applied for loads, so I was limited to what wa sleft I hadn't applied for, on turning up to sign on I explained why I was 2 short, my adviser was going to recommend a sanction as I was 2 short, he only changed his mind when he seen I was with the disability officer, he was not bothered I was only applying for those jobs I was capable/experienced to do, as I was trying to do things correctly...silly me, all he wanted was the 12 applications every two weeks.
Now he gets them, I apply for jobs I don't have a chance of getting, wasting the employers time, my time, the advisers time, but he gets to tick his box, so sorry if I come across as jaded as I am, and see the system for what it is.0 -
It's a very risky strategy for someone to relocate. It means that you are cut off from your support networks, and relatives, and the help that they can bring you.....
It works in reverse too. If I was to relocate it would take away the support I provide to my daughter who is a single mum with a 16 mnth old child working nights.(9pm-5/6am)
(the mum works, not the child

I think the only thing avaible may be the budgeting loans, a single person can have a total of £361 I think and it's paid back at £8 a week.
I had one and still paying it back so not an option for me.
I don't know if the systems changed but the amount you could get from a budgeting loan used to be dependant on how long you'd been on benefits.
Its been a few years now but I've had budgeting loans of £800 (single parent)0 -

Hi, I've moderated on the consumer action group forum, I've volunteered with citizens advice, and in my opinion people need to do two things.- They need to do the job search that gives them the best chance of getting a job
- They also need to fulfill their jobseekers agreement
I don't see these as both the same thing. In my experience, you can be doing the things you believe give you the best chance of getting a job but still get sanctioned if you don't *also* stick to the exact letter of the jobseekers agreement.
So, in essence, I think of fulfilling the jobseekers agreement as a part time job that's not particularly related to getting a better full time one.
Job Centre staff are under a lot of pressure to sanction you, even if you are doing everything you can to look for a job.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

no I think they are fixed amounts? around £800 for a family so you may have gotten the family one.0 -

I don't think the fixed amount bit is right because you say what it is you're claiming for (there is a list of 'essentials') and that can tot up, unless you mean a fixed amount for a particular item.
You could be right about the family thing though. Thinking back I would have been on Income Support at the time and not JSA.0 -

you still have to justify what you want the money for, so still have to price stuff.
Maybe you are mixing up the budgeting loans with the community grants ? which have now been taken away?
You could be right, I know when I asked about it on here, I was told I could get a max of £361 I think it was, and that is what I got even tho I applied for more. and the letter I got from them said I had got the max allowed?
Been trying to find some info on it, but all I can find is you have to pay it back within 2 years and be able to afford to pay it back, which would limit the amount, and that there are 3 categories, can't find any figures tho.0
