Don't apply for minimum wage jobs. This seems to be the problem on this board, people make excuses, imagining problems before they even arise to the point they don't take any action in the first place.

    Such good advice :rotfl:

Please tell me you're joking. That would go down great at JC :D

You really think i go out of my way to apply for min wages jobs if a better paid job is available i could do? I notice you fail to answer how I am to get to the other side of the country for these jobs?

It seems you are the one making daft suggestions, then when you get a decent reply, move on to "people make excuses" not having the money to move house is not an excuse it's a fact.

    come on talk sense.

You are making excuses to problems that haven't even arose yet.

What costs do you foresee? Why wouldn't you take the deposit and HA from your current property and move it over? Why not see about a relocation allowance.

It isn't a daft suggestion, firstly it was a suggestion to meet the JSA criteria during a slow period, a bloody good suggestion considering there are no other options posts that meet the criteria.

Secondly, do you think people relocating for work is some magical new invention? People are doing it all the time, many of them without a penny to their name. Stop making excuses for everything in your life.

You mention Indeed and Reed but have you tried http://jobs.thegrocer.co.uk/ ? They currently have 855 jobs listed across a wide range of sectors

and I agreed with that suggestion you seem to have forgotten, what I disagreed with was your reply after that, which you
obviously have forgotten...anyway I will leave it there with you are your chain of thought is making a discussion with you seem like a ride on a merry go round.

30 jobs in my area and all managerial posts but I really appreciate the link.
I suppose I'm having a rant / verging on panic here but have added 2 job applications, vacancies I 'm not qualified for just to build up the quota.
Every area is different and people have re-located and survived (have re-located a couple of times) but if I widen the area I'm in now anymore then might as well strap a tent and camping stove onto my back).
We all have a different take on the current situation and I don't want to start world war 3 between people on this Forum.
Thanks for the support and advice.

Yes, that is what was worrying me, there technically isn't a vacancy to apply for so how would the JC see it.

You ned to get sending speculative applications. Applying for stuff you dont want and wont get wastes only your time. The JC guys get paid wether you do it or not so no skin off their nose and the HR people will read through you application in seconds too.
find a list of compqnies that cover your area of work. Write a cv and a covering letter tailered to their needs. They may have vancancies that you havent found yet or you could get in ahead of them posting them. Sending stuff you wont get is detrimental in all sorts of ways.
If jc staff want to see the applications you can show them your out box or similar.

depends if they set an "action" or applying or sending out applications, if they tell you you need to apply for some many jobs a week, sending out speculative applications won't do, they have to be advertised jobs.

You can't apply for things that don't exist. Next time you're in there, youre going to have to negotiate the terms of your jobseeker's agreement. Impossibility of performance is a no-no for any type of contractual agreement.
But, that being said, Jobcentres have sanction targets and even the dodgiest reason to sanction is perfectly legitimate to those guys.

I dunno where this whole 1000 jobs per week nonsense came from.
That's 20 jobs per county, even if they were evenly distributed...

To be honest, I think that a mixture of networking, cold calling and speculative applications is far more successful at getting a job than applying to jobs advertised on a jobs board.

But, if it's part of the jobseekers agreement you have to apply for x number of advertised jobs, then you have to do it.

*shrug* It doesn't mean you have to apply for jobs you think you are going to get.

OK, OP, have you tried looking in post office/shop windows, checking out gumtree etc?

Yes, window shopped as well. To be honest, think the job market will pick up in the new year, just that - and I can only speak about my area - it has been flat for the last 2 weeks, just a glitch.
Confident about getting a job in the new year.
    Cheers.
