Corban Direct - Awful customer service

  • I also had poor customer service. I brought a bed for a student let property via the Bedroom Direct website owned by Corban Direct. There was a problem with the address not matching and it took them 2 days to let me know. After sorting that a delivery date of (any time Saturday) was agreed. Having waited in all day there was no delivery. I called on Monday and the girl made an insincere apology and said it would be delivered Wednesday. Will never use again!
  • Think twice before ordering anything from Directbedroom.co.uk. Spent £300+ on some Bunk beds for the kids on the 3rd Sept. "Next day delivery". That was cancelled pretty quickly and "re-arranged" for the following day. The mattresses turned up but no bed!........ So, back on the phone to them when I assured it would be "some time this week." A week passed with no bed. Back on the phone again with an increasingly angry tone. "I cant tell you when it will be delivered........... its not a stock issue......" What???? So, I cancelled the order on the Monday. "The money will be back in your account in 5 working days........" So, today, guess what? No money in the account! So I get back on the phone again to be told that they "missed it off until friday so you can expect the money in your account in 5 working days.................."
  • Following on from my last post.
    I went to check my bank as I had been assured (again) that the money would be in my account today. NOTHING!!!
    So I rang them up and was told (AGAIN!!!) that it hadnt been processed (AGAAAIIIN!!!!!!!).
    She repeated what was said the last time. Apologies, it WILL be done today, etc.
    So I now turn to Money claim online.

    This company should be investigated.
  • Absolutely appalling customer service failed to live up to the lowest standards expected of a company trading digitally in this day and age. We ordered a children's bed and picked the Friday for delivery as it was getting late on the Friday i phoned to check where it was and i was told the delivery people were running late would be here by 6.30pm it never came. due to no customer service on weekends phoned on Monday were i was given a generic apology and told the delivery people hadn't even picked it up from the depot as an apology they could give me 10% off and deliver on the Tuesday. I asked to speak to a supervisor where i was told they would call back but never did. Phoned again to speak to supervisor where i was told they were having a late lunch so phoned back as soon as they hung up and told they were on another call(must have been a very quick late lunch). phoned again later to speak to the supervisor and decided to confirm the order for the Tuesday where i was told they had just had an email saying they could not get it till Thursday cause of the manufacturer Julian Bowen who i phoned to establish if they were still lying to me (more for peace of mind). turns out they were Julian Bowen informed me they did have the bed in stock and could be collected on Tuesday. phoned back Corban direct and stated this to them who said they had an email to which i replied if i as a consumer can speak to the supplier and establish they have it in stock in less than 5 minutes why was it so hard for them to do the same. apparently they don't do common sense just stated cant do anything till Thursday so have requested a refund. Am still waiting to hear from a supervisor who hasn't bothered to pick up the phone. Have logged several complaints to which no response has been given. So in summary terrible company which apparently teaches employees to lie to customers and fob them off with easy to see through excuses i hope no one else gets caught with this excuse of a company.
  • I recently ordered a bed and mattress from this company due to be delivered on the 20th of September (which I paid extra for). The bed arrived but no mattress.

    I had to wait until Monday the 22nd September before I could do anything about it and they said there was a problem with a supplier after having to sleep on the floor for two nights I requested a refund which they assured me would be in my account within 3 days.

    After numerous phone calls and emails each time with the same excuse " I cant understand why this has happened we will process the refund again and you will have it within 3 days.
    It is now more than two weeks later and I am now struggling to pay my rent as I had to use that money to order another mattress as I have a curve in my spine so sleeping on the floor for long periods of time is not an option.

    I have learned now that I should fully investigate a company before ordering with them!
  • Can only reinforce what's been said here DO NOT GO NEAR THEM and beware their many names, if you use another company and see this one take the money start chasing for the refund straight away.

    Ordered a bed (Beds Direct)
    Payment taken
    Bed not delivered
    When I rang up they had cancelled the order but not processed a refund and promised to do it same day.
    After waiting the 5 days quoted nothing was refunded and I rang to find they said they had hit an issue and was reprocessed the day prior.
    Guess what - 5 days later no refund and following another call I was told it may take another couple of days!
    No complaint emails have ever been answered and the staff regularly hang up when you enquire about your order.

    Nothing but a rip of merchant and am having to resort to reporting the money grab.

    Another who has only joined this site after experiencing this company - DO NOT GO NEAR THEM
  • DO NOT USE. this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have been told mattress arriving on 8 different occasions. they never call you back. Told me today to cancel order as they don't deliver mattresses any more. How can a bed company not deliver mattresss.
  • Couldn't agree more with the sentiments within these posts. I just wish I had read them before I placed my order for a bed.
    Only discovered when googling to find out the name of the MD so that I can complain to them direct.


    This dreadful customer service needs publicising wider to prevent others from going through what myself and others have been through
  • In a nutshell:

    I placed an order in September for delivery on a on Saturday 4th October - (NO SHOW No. 1) - having paid extra for Saturday delivery and waited in all day.

    After quite a few no shows by Direct Bedroom without automatic apologies or calls to explain themselves, I received an email this morning (3rd Nov) to say that they are issuing me a refund - just like that!!!!!!!

    No phone call to explain themselves AND the email was addressed to 'Dear Customer'.

    And there isn't a complaints procedure on their website.

    This company should be investigated!!!!!!!

    Companies like this should not be allowed to operate and take customers for granted. It's not like the products are free.

    I have never ever dealt with such a company.

    I have contacted Watchdog. How does one get Trading Standards or the relevant body involved?

    I am seething at the moment :mad:
  • Probably won't deliver and then won't return your money.


    Ordered a bed at the end of September and had two delivery dates arranged. No bed was delivered and on the 2nd occasion they never even bothered to call me. I am now still awaiting a refund after 7 weeks. After many emails and phone calls with promises of screen shots and assurances it had been refunded...... still no money. Many more calls followed and after being lied to by just about all the staff there I got to speak to the so called customer service manager. Again after reassuring me the refund had been processed I still have no money back.


    The staff blatantly lie but say different things to the last member of staff you speak to. Constantly told that the call takers have done my refund then next time you call they aren't authorised to do it. They say the calls are recorded but when you ask for a copy they then say they aren't recorded. They say their IT systems are always down and last week they couldn’t do a BACS payment but this week they can. Quite obviously they have no intention of returning money, just putting you off to buy time and as such they breach the Consumer Contract Regulations in relation to how quick they return funds.


    I have put the matter in dispute with MasterCard, and I will be taking a small claims case against them including charging for my time. I have informed Trading Standards who I hope involve the Police as this could be business fraud. I suggest others do the same.


    I have also emailed ITV as they advertise themselves as a supplier to the 60 minute makeover show and will also contact BBCs Watchdog.
