  • Hello everyone!
Very quiet weekend for me, spending-wise (we had a bank holiday today for Australia Day). I did a $15 shop on Sunday for a few bits and bobs, mostly toiletries and washing up liquid (and some things for my parents but I'll count those too).

I arrived back at my place tonight and fridge is almost empty. :j Still lots of meat in the freezer, plus my mystery use-up-everything soup from Friday night, but I'll need to do a shop very soon to get some veg at the very least.

Dinner tonight was BBQ chicken donated by my lovely housemate, plus rice and baby spinach and the last of the cherry tomatoes warmed in the frypan. Lunch at work tomorrow will be veg soup and some cheese to fill the gaps :) I have beef mince thawing for dinner.

Well done to everyone declaring on Jan's totals! I feel very inspired every time I read this thread. I still have a few weeks to go on my Jan budget - now I can see what everyone meant about it being a looong month :rotfl:

This month is going pear shaped for me, too, will have overspent again, after having a fairly good December! Looking at about £450 for January, but hopping over to February now. Must do better! Rarely post but lurk most days; think if I post more I may do better.

  • Again gone longer than intended without updating, must try harder.

Spend £6.75 in Ald! a week ago, then hadn't been to the shops again until Tesco yesterday (mainly because we needed milk!).

Used lots of vouchers that Clubcard sent through (although only used the ones we actually needed, as tempting as "50 extra points if you buy a carton of creme fraiche" is!) and lots of the herbs and spices were reduced to half price so stocked up on what I needed there, so ended up paying £12.85 for £19.14's worth of stuff.

Also I was really pleased with myself last week - I had an exam on Thursday which went well so I was tempted to pick up something nice to eat or a bottle of wine to celebrate, but I decided not to and stuck with the meal plan instead. And it was lovely and I didn't miss not having a dessert or having a glass of wine at all. However it did mean I forgot to buy the paper with the £5 off £40 spend in Ald! -.- So although I was planing on doing a largish shop to restock the cupboards, that'll have to wait till next month now!

Last grocery shop of the month (hopefully) done on Saturday for £30.75. Adding on the £1.10 for milk from the corner shop, we now have £1.59 left in the budget and I'm determined it will stay there till I declare on Friday.

Bit annoyed as I discovered the mysupermarket app and spent ages refining my shopping list on it making use of all the offers. Then when I tried to get at my list in the shop I found a) it doesn't work without internet and b) even when I used my mobile data, my list had disappeared. I found it a fantastic app for making a list so I am really disappointed it failed me like that. I might give it another go but copy the list onto paper as well.

  • Oh dear, I was hoping to come in very close to my budget but already £5 over and will probably need another weekly shop before I declare for Jan! I'm not too annoyed though, as it is the first GC we have done and so a bit of a guess for the budget and it has been a long month so Feb should be better.

Went to T3sco to get some ham. We usually get ours from Ald! but after having some from T3sco the other week, it was so much nicer and so we decided to get some from there again. Ended up getting chicken instead for a change, some cheap printer paper, OH got a couple of decent pens for work (as he has to take his own pens and they keep breaking), and a big pack of popcorn that OH really wanted to try. We also got a pack of 2 Finest scotch eggs, OH really wanted to try them and I gave in because he's been working long hours recently so it was a treat but I have to say they were really disappointing, really bland and tasteless, so we won't be buying those again! We also found some boxes of T3sco Collection Christmas Fudge and Toffee Assortment with no price, scanned them and they were 1p each! So got 3 boxes. I've done a search on the internet and they were originally £5 each so what a bargain:j Total came to £9.43 so not great, but a few things we needed and a couple of small treats so hey ho :)

Hope everyone is ok, can't wait for February now!
Thank you to everyone who posts on here :)

Just returned after what I am determined will be my last shop of the month. Throughout the month I’ve managed two fiscal fasts, a run of 13 days, and a run of 9, so well pleased with myself.

Im getting in the habit of making lists rather than relying on my memory, even if there are only 4 items on it. Todays list consisted of 5 items but unfortunately ended up with 7, although I would probably need the others soon – and they were on offer :D

Total spend today of £15.11, which leaves me under budget by £15.97.
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Aug Grocery spends = £219.21
    Sept - Grocery spends = £ 10.92

Well my budget has gone completely pear shaped. £350/£250 budget and its not the end of the month till Friday and we're bound to need milk at least.

I completely underestimated how much it cost to properly feed 4 adults, (3 male) and a 7 month old lurcher x puppy.

Especially now we are all working full time and I am trying to cut the cost of the extra spends for all of us so making proper pack ups every day.

Think I better go have a hunt through the index at the front for some ideas and inspiration.
