I have done my last food shop of the month, and come in over budget by around £8. Two reasons for this:
1: cookery course - it has cost me a fortune for fresh meat (in larger quantities than I would normally buy) spices and extra ingredients. On the plus side, I will have a decent amount of food to stick in the freezer.
2: my annual 25th of January hunt for a shop that hasn't sold out of haggis (I'm living in England just now) meant I wound up in Sainsbobs for this weeks shopping. They are a lot more expensive than my usual A1di. For example, my usual bread costs 99p in A1di, and £1.50 in Sainsbobs.
Only 2 weeks left of the cookery course, and I now have all the spices I could possibly need (for years to come!) so that will help me come in on budget in Feb.0 -
Did the weekly shop on Friday in Ald! and spent £23.67, which was more than I was hoping for but did stock up on quite a few staples, and also got their large panettone for just 99p, which will be great to snack on all week. OH wanted some cheese topped rolls and some posh cheese, which didn't help the budget, but he's working long hours at the moment so I let him off
I'm SO glad I'm doing this challenge because I was tempted to get the paper on Thursday with the £5 off £40 spend voucher, but thanks to thinking of my budget with this challenge I decided not to bother. We really didn't need £40 worth of shopping and we would of really struggled to find anywhere to put it all, as cupboards and freezer are pretty full. We had an NSD yesterday and it should be another one today as well.
For dinner on Friday we had the last half of a chicken and mushroom lattice out of the freezer with mash and veg. We had gammon, egg, hm chips, and beans last night to use up the gammon we got on offer from Ald! last week, and I made another loaf to use for sandwiches. Dinner for tonight is sausage casserole cooking away in the SC, using reduced sausages from Makro.
Less than one week to go! Hope everyone is doing ok and having a fab weekendThank you to everyone who posts on here0 -

I don't serve any gravy with gammon as we usually have cauli cheese and the sauce from that is enough. We usually put wholegrain mustard, apple sauce and redcurrant jelly on the table too nommmmmmm.
Sitting here listening to torrential rain and feeling awful for DH and DS1 who are at rugbyDreading the washing later
Thanks Meg72 for the tip off re: lamb in C**p, will have a look tomorrow after the school run.
DH went to Ts last night for dog food and mayonnaise. He also bought beer to take to friend's but that is coming from our entertainment budget. £9.40 to add to total. Overpayment on our mortgage looking more like pence now!!!
Have a good day all
