I am declaring (I have to laugh - originally typed eclaring - the Freudian slip?) at £29.88 for January. Still have oodles of reserves so the next few months should be low-cost too, but it's just so difficult not to shop! I must take up a hobby and maybe gardening will take over 'when the good weather comes'!

    Hi all,

Reporting a NSD here. Dinner tonight was tuna pasta bake #2 from the index. Went down very well.

Tomorrow we will need milk, veg, juice cartons for packed lunches next week, rolls or sandwich thins, salad, dog food. We have £57.04 left in the budget so very doable. Anything left in the pot this month will be a mortgage overpayment - every little helps!

    Have a good evening all.

Spent £16.97 on noodles, lemons, yoghurt, jam (Tiptree's Little Scarlett as a special treat) and three large jars of Gold Blend de-caff while it's on special offer. Last big shop of the week tomorrow - I have the day off work so doing it a day early - hopefully no more than odds'n'sods until payday next Friday :D

Well done on coming in on budget or near missing so far everyone. :T

    Thanks mags50 and bmma

Glad to know I'm not alone lol. I have literally scraped the bottom of the margarine tub today - I forgot to go and buy some and the kids had to have to toast with jam but no butter...unfortunately this back fired and I threw 5 pieces of jam on toast away Grr.

Had another set back today, my income has dropped by £400 a month (I knew this was coming but thought we had til Sept) and the Working Tax sent me an extra payment of £1300 a few months ago which I spent on replacing my very rotten windows and guess what? Yep now they want it back :/ Why do they make these extra payments and then tell you they overpaid you? Frustrating isn't the word!

Kiwi blue - we have three grand children and two will eat salad, fruit & veg every day without fail and the other grandson will not eat anything apart form carrots, broccoli & pineapple. Makes me so cross as his mum (step daughter) cant see that it’s the pies, crisps, pasties, fried food and fizzy drink that’s making him so overweight. Not good when there is diabetes, heart disease and cancer in her side of family.

£20.13 spent today total now £118.72
We had a use it up night - the last of some breaded garlic mushrooms with some pasta & sauce, the ham was some that had been lo from Christmas and frozen. 001_zps9f31215e.jpg

Another NSD :) I am so enjoying this!!

Hour or so out tomorrow so shall pick up the bits we need then. Have written a meat order down for our local butcher, so should get this over the weekend or early next week. Then I can finish my meal plans off yay!! :) I'm going to try and do them til the end of the month and for most of February.

I've been looking at all the recipes on the first pages and there's loads that I don't do now, or haven't had for months. I'm getting quite excited about it all lol

We had sea bass and pasta stuff for tea and scrambled egg on toast for dinner. Will soon have used all the fish up so I feel another order coming on, but that can wait til next month. Luckily we love fish.

I baked some buns with my DGD today. She was off school with a bad cold so it was nice having her around while DD was at work. Chocolate cake filled and buns iced....although lots have gone now DH is home lol. What's left will do us over the weekend.

That's it for me....hope everyone is ok :)

  • Hi all
$25 spent on fruit, veg, milk and crackers. Still on track to being well under budget.

It is hard when they are in an environment where the parents can give them whatever they want, and make poor nutritional choices. Littlest GD was copying the others and although she does have a lot of f&v, she also has a lot of sweets!
Took all the grandchildren back to DDs where DGD1 and DGS2 will be collected tonight by their parents. Car trip took 1 1/2 hours and they chattered all the way. The cousins do get on so well together that it is a pleasure to see them all together.
OH and I then took the opportunity to have lunch in a nice restaurant and then drove home.
