Merry Christmas everyone.
Is anyone going near the sales? If so, what are you looking out for?
Probably. Likely a few treats and I need some new sports stuff, I exercise 3-4 times a week, 3 diff activities where 2 are outside and clothing can be similar, the other is inside and clothing deff not appropriate outside in winter unless I want frostbite :rotfl:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I buy almost all of my clothes from Charity Shops so each item is cheap but because I buy so many of them it's all adding up (it's become a bit of a habit/hobby even - lol.) In addition - my bedroom currently looks like the result of an explosion in a charity shop and it's getting me down. Like others I will have a think about a realistic budget.
Somerandom - we share the same addiction to charity shops and the same state of untidiness in our bedrooms!
I have just had an 8 day enforced avoidance of charity shops (partly because I have been too ill to go out). I had a rummage and bought 3 items and spent less than £10.
I need to ebay over the festive break, and donate what I cant sell.

Thanks darwins_mum - good to hear from a kindred spirit. I tried eBaying some clothes before Christmas with little success. Might have been the time of year ? But ready to try again.
There is no doubt that I have enough clothes to last me the whole year AND open a small boutique but I don't feel ready to go "cold turkey" on the charity shop clothes buying because I really do get so much pleasure from it.
I think I will go for a £10 a month budget - so £120 a year. I sometimes buy specifically to re-sell and I won't count that in the budget (& I won't cheat lol).Shifting my energy for 20200 -
I'm going for £480 for 4 of us. Shouldn't need too much for the kids as thee youngest has all the eldest clothes handed down and the eldest has just been given a bag of clothes from a friend. Eldest does need a new coat though, going to look in the sales today!
Hubby may need some new t-shirts for work later on in the year and I've got a pretty full wardrobe at the moment!Grocery Challenge 2024

The clear out has begun. I started with my underwear drawer and threw out 20 pairs of pants. I still have 40 pairs, so I don't think I will need anymore for a long time. I wish I had done my audit BEFORE looking on my favourite eBay seller and ordering some fancy pants!
I have a big pile of clothes to put on eBay over the next few days, and have set myself a budget of £200 for the coming year. Determined to stick to it as there are so e jobs that need doing around the house.
Busy overhauling the rest of my finances - things need to change around here.
Signature will be updated later.
Enjoy the rest of your day y'allNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task

Got eldest a coat in the sales, as well as a long sleeve t-shirt, a hat, a fleece and a lovely warm fluffy zip up jacket.
Youngest got a new pair of trainers as his feet have grown a bit.
Hubby got a winter coat.

I'm not starting this challenge until 1st January but can already tell it will genuinely be a challenge & one that is much needed. Went out shopping yesterday - inevitably I did the round of charity shops - tried to be more conscious in my buying - bought a summer dress & top £2 each but really struggled with not buying a pair of sandals which were beautiful, a good brand (Kurt Geiger) & only £4 - even though knew I'd have difficulty walking in them & they were likely just to sit in a cupboard. After much picking them up & putting them back I eventually managed to leave the shop without them - but it wasn't easy !! I really do need this challenge!! I can't keep telling myself it's only £4.00 - it all adds up...
Will we continue on this same thread or start a new one for 2015?Shifting my energy for 20200 -
Hello folks,
Well I stuck with this challenge until about a month after being debt free and the I fell of the waggon big styleIn my defense, most of my winter clothing was very worn after a few years of strict budgeting.
I'm now in a position where I can be a bit more relaxed but I dont want to waste money so going to go for £500 next year.
That said, I've just splurged some christmas money in the sales on a new pair of winter running shoes (half price)I will not spend anything more in 2014.
