There may be people on this thread who remember me from my time as a SW Consultant, several years ago. I retired and gradually my diet went to pot.

I have been an occasional lurker on the board but haven't posted for a couple of years.....mostly from shame that I have allowed almost all my excess weight to gather again.

However, here I am, trying once again to follow the plan and lose the weight. I have been in and out of hospital over the last couple of months or so with pancreatitis and gall bladder problems (not brought on by alcohol I hasten to add) and I know the only way to sort myself out is with a healthy SW diet.

Someone asked a few posts ago for the link to the recipe thread, so here it is for any newbies who need some ideas thoughit would probably be a good idea to double check things as syn values do alter. :-

I wonder if it will be helpful to copy and paste the info from previous threads which give an outline of the plan. If anyone thinks too much has changed for this to be followed, please feel free to tell me to delete it again.

Food Optimising is a plan for life, it is not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.

You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you have been doing in the past has not got you to where you want to be.

You cannot use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.

If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.

You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.
Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising and Choose Success books again and again.

Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you………go for it!

The Original (Red) and Green plans are still going strong but most people may well have heard of the Extra Easy plan. If you've ever wondered if it works, I promise you it does. If you've ever wondered how it works, just trust the experts at SW, they wouldn't send you on the wrong path.

If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-

    Extra Easy:

    1: Choose your Free Food

Anything that’s Free Food on Green OR Original – so that’s pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish and all the Superfree food – is totally Free on Extra Easy! Yes, you can eat unlimited meat, potatoes and veg, fish, chips and mushy peas, and chicken curry and rice with no measuring, no weighing, no counting – no kidding!

And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Superfree Food!

    2: Choose your Healthy Extras

Each day select one Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice and one Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread and cereal.

3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day

And if the Syn values for Green and Original foods are different on the standard Syns lists, count the lower one!

If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-

    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free

    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)

    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted

    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured

    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........

A: increase the proportion of Superfree Foods to half of your plate

    OR

B: switch to more Speed Foods

And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

:wave: hello consultant, welcome back. Great to see you again. Would be good to see Dizzy & mrsM back too. Thanks for adding the info, we missed you :A

Evening all nice to have a new thread.

Well I returned to group after having 2 weeks off and have put on 9lbs whoops! I'm fine with that. To say I relaxed over Christmas is a slight understatement. I wasn't the worst offender, a man in our group put on 16lbs!!!!

But I am back firmly on the wagon today. I am having a red week as I saw my diabetic nurse on Monday and one of her patients has lost over 3 stone in as many months going on red days alone, it is much for diabetic friendly and requires a lot less insulin which in the long run is the best.

I haven't had time to read back but will do that now. Hope everyone is motivated and ready for 2014. Is there another challenge running this time. I would like to take part for the whole thing this time.

    Totally agree! Welcome back Consultant

I wonder how MrsM's baby is (must be at least a toddler now!)

I've just had my last naughty takeaway for the year (chinese & indian isn't naughty!) & feel totally fat & frumpy because of it! Can't wait to go shopping to get in the good food - bracing myself for the shock to my bank account though!

Ditto, Lovely to see some old members I remember Dizzy, and MrsM as well, I still have several of her recipes that all of the family love. Last heard she was pregnant, that is going back around 2 years now!

To get in the spirit of things, I have been sw on and off for 3 years, I lost 2.5stone and was 2lb away from my goal weight then put it all back on again. This time around I have 'technically' got my 1stone award, although I have put 9lbs of this back on. My weight as of today is 14stone 13lbs. My goal is 12stone 7. I'm a size 16/18 but would love to be 12stone and be wearing size 12. I have a mini goal to shift those 13lbs by the end of January when I turn 33. A bit ambitious but I love a challenge.

Welcome to all of the newbies :j

  • Hi,
    Can i join too?
Started back at work today after the christmas break and thought it would be a good time to start to eat more healthy. Ive cleared the fridge of all the naughty stuff left over and plan to fill it with good/healthy stuff tomorrow when i go shopping.

A couple of years ago i did SW and i quite enjoyed the menu's but have to admit i didnt really enjoy the classes, so im going to sort out my old books and give it another go hopefully with a little help from you lovely lot.

Ive been going to the gym now for 2yrs 2-3 times a week which has kept my weight at a steady level, however, i know im probably 2st overweight. So im going to throw myself at this and loose it before the summer.

    Today my meals have been,

2 weetabix skimmed milk 1tsp sugar

    Banana, pineapple, activia yoghurt.

1 Fillet of Haddock with poached egg and 1 slice of wholemeal bread

    3 glasses of water
    2 cups of tea

How does this look? would it be classed as a green day?

As i mentioned i havent got my SW books out yet and i need to remind myself of the rules.

Im going to have a good look through all the posts as you've inspired me to give it another go, Thankyou.
My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

    I can spell...................I just cant type:confused:
