Welcome to the last flylady thread of 2013

This week we will be starting gently working up to being back on track next week. Welcome aboard if you are new, jump straight in with whichever day you join (don't worry about catching up or reading every post)

May I wish each and everyone of you, regulars, oldies, newbies, returners and lurkers a very Happy 2014 full of laughter, love and not too much dust.

.................................................. ...............................................

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you Natty for last week's thread

There are 3 levels per day deepening on how much time you have. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal circumstances.

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up.

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie
- stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Click here to read Toots wonderful welcome guide

Monday Bathrooms and a bit of Everything Else
Only got 15 minutes...

S&S toilets and sinks (including the kitchen)
Have home been found for all the presents? Try to get one thing out of the house for each thing in - new socks, get rid of the religious ones etc
30 minutes to spare....
HHI
Clean the bath and/or shower
Wipe any dusty surfaces in the bathroom
30 minutes to spare....
Use up/decant any dribbles from shampoo etc, bin the empties to make space for Christmas smellies.
Meal plan for the week
Declutter floors not just into a box or binbag to hide away, try to put things where they belong, a home for everything will make life easier
Sweep/mop/hoover floors you can now see

Extras
New year, New you, what would you like to learn to do this year (much more inspiring than the same old loosing weight and exercising) - for me it is to make sourdough rolls and learn more knitting techniques
Meal plan for the week
Count some blessings from the year gone by
Chill something fizzy to toast the New Year

New Year's Eve - Kitchen and Dining Room
Only got 15 minutes...

Wipe the table and work surfaces put everything away that shouldn't be there
Descale kettle, iron, taps etc
30 minutes to spare....
Sweep/mop/hoover floors
Wipe kickboards or legs of cupboards and tables
Got an hour....
Wash or exchange washing up brush, teatowels, cloths, dusters
Declutter one cupboard
Dust any furniture in the dining Room

Extras
Enjoy time with family/friends or some me time enjoying your own company
Are any thank you notes/phone calls still outstanding

Wednesday - New Year's Day

Just some bits and pieces for those in the mood, if not have the day off ready to start tomorrow. Remember to spend sometime with family/friends if you like that sort of thing.

Hoover out smoke alarms and test
Update calendar/diary with all those important dates
Delete some emails/favourites
Back up photos from phone/laptop etc, enjoy looking over some
Put away any glasses used last night
Hoover any areas in dire need
S&S toilets and sinks if required

Write a New Toots List (this is a list of all the jobs you want to get done from decorate a room, hang a picture etc) - burn or bin your old one (you can have a sneaky compare if you like). Now go through and put the month in which you are going to do the tasks next to them. We tend to over estimate how much we will achieve in the short term and under estimate what we can achieve in the longer term.

Thursday - children's rooms, spare rooms or any bedroom

Only got 15 minutes...

Tidy up and find a home for all those things sitting about
Hoover
30 minutes to spare....
Change a bed or two - should be a dry day for most but one day only
Tidy the bookshelves or floorobe
Got an hour....
Pull everything out from under the bed an hoover under there
Wipe the window ledges
Shine a mirror or window
Extras
Whilst packing away decorations put any you don't want in a bag and label for charity for when you get them down next year
Make sure book bags, PE kits, your work stuff is all ready for next week

Friday Hall, stairs, landing and office spaces
15 minutes ....

Hoover and Mop all these areas
Got 30 minutes....
Clear your desk and give it a good wipe
15 minutes filing/paperwork sorting/flinging
Empty the bins
Got an hour .........
Dust all the skirting boards
Dust the lighshade (make sure the bulbs are off - I stuck a microfibre mitt to a hot bulb earlier)
Wipe any marks from the walls
Put away anything on the stairs or landing
Extras
The pile of stuff you have been meaning to sort for ages - now is the time
Update your Christmas card list when you take your cards down, add in that illusive child's name, make a list of people to contact this month to catch up; make a note in your diary for October as to where you have put the cards you bought in the sale.

    Evening,

Tiny is in bed! Miracle as she slept so late in the afternoon, bet she wakes up, big one is watching a movie in bed. I'm sorting my ironing pile ready to iron. 35 items, most baby clothes. Also a load to hang out, I really like the smell of my current liquid makes them smell very clean.

I also need to make an effort to be more MSE, I keep buying things so just need to make sure I don't overindulge.

No-one has been let down. Your health comes first, pleased to hear that your pain has eased but don't be hard on yourself. Many flylady's have health issues so just do what you can. If you can't do a task then don't, remember the lists are just a guide.

    Welcome back :)
