This year: ceramic zombie gnome.
Dh is scared of zombies, we have a dog that wees on anything in the garden, and a toddler who likes to break stuff.
Last year: A t-shirt from his mum that said "made to be laid" !. That had us sniggering for days.Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

We have been on the other side of this topic because, as I mentioned in the C'mas card thread....
Many of us in my family started swapping Oxfam Unwrapped gifts as soon as they started that scheme. We're not in want, so why waste money on stuff we don't need?
I have to say, watching my out-laws faces as they opened an envelope to discover they'd given a family a pair of goats was priceless!
Especially as the cover of the gift certificate showed a pair of goats with the legend, "This Lovely Couple Reminded Us of You."0 -

I didn't receive anything random but I did buy something for somebody that everyone else thinks is weird. A toilet seat.
It's one of those soft close ones and it wasn't cheap. The reason I bought it? She said she needed one. I've spoken to her since and she's as pleased as punch with it and said it was the best present she's had this year. A couple of years ago I bought her a clothes horse coz she said she needed one. Again there were raised eyebrows but it was what she wanted.
Some people only exist as examples of what to avoid....0 -
I'm sure that I've mentioned my nan's bizarre taste in gifts before but this year, amongst other things I got an Amateur Gardener magazine - wrapped. I don't have a garden! I did scratch my head at that one. Lord knows why she wrapped it, bless her.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

!!!!!!??? It looks like he bought her an expensive leather handbag then left it in Reception class during painting hour. The biscuit will only dare to be just a biscuit when it is with its true friend the potato. (Edward Monkton) :beer:0 -
Family and best mate got it spot on this year - I had asked for mainly Next gift cards and that's what I got. I also got the DVD player I asked for for my Open Uni course and some nice clothes and smellies - best mate bought me a load of Ted Baker stuff which she knows I love but cant afford which is always gratefully received. However I've had some bizarre presents in the past - an ankle length tartan fleecy nightie from ex's Mum, 12 bottles of white wine from OH's Mum (she knew I only drink rose) and a load of video tapes from my best mate (who bless her thought I still had a video!)*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

Ha - yeah..... thats how it starts! Just look at my post as a reminder that telling people EXACTLY what you want, doesn't mean a damn thing! :cool:Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0
