We spent Christmas in a lovely hotel. Whilst looking around the local area, we spotted a lovely hand painted jug which we decided we would treat ourselves with. On leaving the hotel to come home, OH was laden with stuff so I insisted I take the jug out to the car in case he dropped it. As it was windy I didn't want to leave the hotel door open, went to grab it, lost grip on one handle of the bag and so I dropped it instead of him, cracking it across the base and up the side......... so now we have a lovely cracked jug on display....Make £2025 in 2025

In my defence it was one shower scrub (very lovely, have tried it already, and some soap)
Do you know why you ended up with that rather than the gift you wanted?
God only knows
Any reason why she thought youd like it?
As I said before - she bought herself one. So i guess she thinks we have similar taste.
Which makes me wonder whether I need to re-evaluate my life.Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -
I just thought of another random present i received last christmas - a chocolate fairy from Hotel Chocolat. Now im not a chocolate lover, however, i will eat some, but buying me something from a lovely chocolate store that was clearly aimed towards a 5 year old rather than my then 30yr old self seemed rather bizarre considering the infinate other options that would have been available!!!!£2 Savers Club #156!

Maybe next year you could hint that she buys the entire smelly range of everything very lovely from Lush for herself and buys you the same?0

Not sure - which is worse... telling her the flowers are UGLY or telling her she needs to start taking more baths......
You know the worst part of the whole scenario?
I had actually planned a little bit of "Me time" into the busy boxing day evening to have a "lush bath" and had decided which bomb to use. HOW sad is that ?!?!
Anyone guess which sale i have spent the most money in so far.....?????Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -

Lush, lovely smellies ... no, sorry I don't get how those words go together.
(Might be because the factory is near here.)loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
This thread is sort of why I give money instead of gifts to rellies that I hardly ever see.....How do I know their current taste or what they have or havent already got??
Truth is, most of us get things we really love/need/covet for ourselves (though not necessarily at Christmas)
Both the above circumstances can result in "unwanted" or "inappropriate" gifts.
Stuff...I hate buying tatt and really dont want anyone I know to waste any money either.
Someone at work told me that his best friend asks everyone to buy him something from M&S...so that he can take it all in and get either a refund if there is a gift receipt or an exchange for something he really wants, which is likely to be half price after Shopmas!!:A Goddess :A0 -

Actually i am the same - i dont buy for anyone but close family and my OH. I dont see a point in token gifts as they are unlikely to be anything i want or like and id rather people spent the money on themselves.
Oh well, better start ebaying!£2 Savers Club #156!
