Not sending Xmas cards

Options
I don't like Xmas much and send fewer cards every year. This year I only gave two - one to my son and his girlfriend, and the other to my sister and her husband. One of my friends sent me a card that said 'Bah Humbug' on the front, thus acknowledging how I feel about the festive season. I didn't receive many cards this year, mainly because I left my job in June and most of my cards used to come from work. While I think it was nice of people to send me cards it wouldn't have bothered me if they didn't. However, the friend who sent me the 'Bah Humbug' card seems to be bothered by the fact that I didn't send her one in return. Would this bother anyone else?

It doesn't bother me whether or not some one has sent me a card.

Life's too short to worry about things like that!

    I've been Money Tipped!
A lot of my firends this year have opted to donate to charity instead of sending cards which is fair enough. I still sent them one though and didnt get stressed as I didn't receive one back

We used to have a scheme in work whereby you could state on the intranet that you were donating to charity rather than sending cards. Some people still moaned though! My son doesn't send cards, apart from a handful of personal ones eg to me and to his girlfriend. I did have a box of cards and asked him if they wanted them to give to his colleagues and he said not (and, yes, I do realise that I could have sent those cards myself!)

I actually got a text on Xmas Eve from this friend asking where her card was.

If your friend was that bothered she wouldn't have sent you one in the first place, it was probably just a jokey mocking gesture on her part which I would take in good humour.

I haven't been feeling particularly festive this christmas and didn't send any cards, but I did text back to say thank you for the ones I received. :o

ETA if she texted then it might be a serious matter in her books to give and receive cards at christmas, and I would either make a good excuse or send her one. Not worth falling out over.

I did text to thank her when I received the card from her. I thought she was joking at first but it seems she was serious. I texted her to ask if she'd had a nice Xmas and got a very abrupt reply. It's a bit late to send her one now even if I wanted to!

It may be that she thinks you have sent out cards but left her out. Why not text her again saying something along the lines of, hope the holidays are going well, I haven't felt festive at all and didn't even bother with cards etc?

I don't send Christmas cards and don't expect to receive any either. Friends and family know this, so if they send one, it gets put in the recycling bag

Your friend knows you don't do Christmas cards, so shouldn't expect one on return, id tell them to get a flippin grip
The opposite of what you know...is also true

Are you, possibly, being over-sensitive and she was just busy? Maybe not - it could be THAT important to her.

Send her a Happy New Year card. If it was important to a friend I think I'd send one - buy a pack of 5 or whatever in the sales and you're sorted for years!

When she texted and asked me where her card was I replied and said 'same place as everyone elses', obviously meaning that I hadn't sent one to anyone else (apart from my son and my sister). I'm pretty sure that she knows that I don't really 'do' cards. I have a niece and three nephews but have only received a card from one of them and I'm genuinely not bothered so am struggling to understand why it would be that big a deal.

She forgot my birthday last year!
