  • I am doing some prep for lunches this week. Going to have some carrot and parsnip soup to use up a £1 veg bag from sainsburys. Going to try spiced jackets for 2 days as well.
I'll also be taking in breakfasts and an afternoon snack to avoid spending.
The biggest problem for me is remembering to take my food to work. Have been known to leave it at the front door!!

Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks Broke Kitty and WTBSE! I'm feeling very frustrated with myself today, I can't seem to stick to it at all... When I feel low or tired I can't seem to summon the energy to cook the meat or fish, which is silly coz if I had a family I'd be cooking for them so why can't I do it for myself?! So I end up eating a sandwich coz its quick which is what happened last night (this morning) when I got in from work, now I'm bloated and even more listless! I feel annoyed coz I KNOW how I'll feel so why don't I just avoid the stuff I know will make my IBS bad?? Raaaaaa!

Sorry, having a down day today! I just need to be more organised I think.

Work has been manic the last few days and I've forgotten to take stuff in so have eaten at work the last 2 days. Not off until Thursday so need to be better prepared meal wise. I'll eat at home today before I start at 6pm, will have tuna steak and salad.
Apologies for my bad mood! X

    Updated to here :)

B17c- Re the clean eating. Maybe you could have 1 day a week where you pre cook everything and then freeze? For example, you could pre cook some chicken breasts etc?
To make it quick, i buy frozen fish from Aldi that can be cooked from frozen, then i buy a bag of frozen ratatouille from Tesco. So all i do is grill (or bake) the fish (or grill/bake a chicken breast) and fry the ratatouille (it's fry from frozen) then make up a salad and/or make some cous cous. Takes 10mins and tastes lovely! Sometimes i'll add some extra veg (like mushrooms and tomatoes) to the frozen ratatouille to bulk it out a bit more. I want to limit my carb intake but have been suffering with really bad headaches with it, and also low mood and lethargy.

    Will post more later.

EDIT- I am thinking about starting a new thread about clean eating, let me know what you think.

May not seem very exciting, but it'll do me for the week :) Has anyone else made a LTW meal plan?

Want that's a good idea, lunch meal planning! I haven't done that but have had a vague idea of lunches for the week. Might plan more thoroughly now.

Made tomorrow's lunch ( and feeling kind, did same for DH. He gets a cake as well lucky thing because he is not weight watching). Got even more organised and bagged up 40g of porridge oats to take to work as I've got an early morning yoga class booked tomorrow and I know I won't have time for breakfast first.

Off to pack clothes and lay out kit for tomorrow, then early night.

    Have a good week all!
  • okay, i really like popcorn and quite often buy a packet at work of the metcalfe popcorn.

I have a popcorn maker at home so this seems silly. So my question is, how long will it keep fresh and crunchy? If i make it the night before will it still be okay the following lunchtime?

Also how do you get seasoning such as salt or paprika to stick?

And i like butter on my popcorn, would this make it go soggy if I didn't eat it immediately?

B17 hope tomorrow's better for you, sorry you're feeling down.

I find if I prepare and cook the minute I get in I can stick with the cooking; if I let myself sit down its much harder to get up and eat going again. Could you try that, or cook two day's meals at once so you can just heat and eat every second day?

I am interested in this clean eating thing that people are taking about. I'd it avoiding all processed food?
Yep, basically no processed food, so if you can't harvest or kill it yourself, you don't eat it, is the general gist.

DC- well done on resisting cake! Re the 'clean eating', for me that just means avoiding processed stuff, eating lots of fruit, veg, fish, lean meat (chicken, turkey, pork), nuts, seeds etc. I was thinking about starting another thread for it, but i dont see any reason why we cant do it on this thread :)
Let me know if you do start a new thread, and I'll definitely join you! Let's just say it was my biggest revelation of 2013 and I'm obsessed :D

I know exactly what you mean! To make this easier for myself, I buy bags of frozen pre-cooked chicken from Aldi, and also frozen veg like broccoli, green beans (my favourites) and then I can just quickly fry the chicken (takes five minutes tops, I fry it with butter and hot water out of the kettle which I pour over it to help it defrost quicker) and either boil or microwave the veg depending how lazy I'm feeling. The chicken and veg are done at roughly the same time and it's super quick!

Also doing some salad prep is great, I pre chop things like peppers, tomatoes, anything I know I would want in my salad, and put them in the fridge and then I can just grab some leaves from a bag, a handful of my pre chopped stuff, and then just add whatever protein I'm having eg feta cheese, a tin of tuna, or what have you.

Most of the time I do cook fresh veg (I'm a huge fan of sweet potato, only carbs that don't cause me trouble!) and fresh meat ie chicken breasts or thighs which can be popped in the fridge if there are a few too many and had for lunch the next day, but there really are those days when you just can't face spending time cooking and the freezer is great for that!

And the slow cooker. Which I am about to go and put on right now for tomorrow's dinner. Takes me all of ten minutes to put together and does all the work for me!

Forgot to update on Friday, I went home for my dinner and had an omlette and some veg stew! Managed to not buy dinner despite forgetting to take anything with me! So that puts me on 8/15
