It was cheese sandwich because I didn't have anything else, though. If I'd chosen to have cheese sandwich it would have been great!
This is Crumble with her packed lunch

I resisted Temptation because of this thread!!!
People at work spoke of a place called "Greggs"......this mystic place which is a mere 5 minutes from the coal face sells FOOD of many varieties most importantly CAKE .
there was much talk of all going together and eating but although deeply tempted at the thought of a doughnut I did not go. I ate my quiche and salad like a good take your lunch to work person.
I think this takes me to
10/22
I know what you mean Buffy!!! I feel your pain. Today was one of those days in our office. We had cream cakes, normal cakes and the Christmas buffet table is still going :-( . As it was Friday there was also talk of pub lunches, Greggs:eek:. Not good for those of us trying to be healthy... But I held firm and only ate what I took. :T
So I am checking in with 12\22 I took a salad of mixed leaves, cucumber, tomato, celery and beetroot with a non-buttered bread roll, a pear and a cereal bar :T. Very pleased with myself :T
I am interested in this clean eating thing that people are taking about. I'd it avoiding all processed food?
I am really pleased to be taking lunch to work. My colleagues must spend at least £5 per day each. One comes to work with a McDonald's breakfast every day must be at least £3 worth. I have coffee twice a week but only spend £3 ish from my personal spend money. So yeah other than that saving a fortune I am :rotfl::rotfl:
Also managing to stay away from the 'sales'.... result!
Have a great weekend.0 -

Juno- Crumble is such a great name, and she (?) is beautiful! Lovely photo
LESLAMP- If you didnt part with any cash, you can count that as a LTW.
DC- well done on resisting cake! Re the 'clean eating', for me that just means avoiding processed stuff, eating lots of fruit, veg, fish, lean meat (chicken, turkey, pork), nuts, seeds etc. I was thinking about starting another thread for it, but i dont see any reason why we cant do it on this thread
BrandNewStart- wow, £75 is a great saving! Well doneI know that when i saved £115 in my forst month i was amazed! I hadnt realised i was spending that much on lunch. Its easily done though. Let us know how much you saved by the end of January too.
Buffy- well done, that is hardcore resistance! It can be so hard to cave in when everyone else is doing their thing at the local takeaway/canteen/shop etc.
I am making the sausage rolls today. I have everything i need, so ii wont have to spend anything at all. I would like to avoid the pastry, but its in the freezer and needs using up, so will make 6 and take 2 with me next week (prob Monday and Tuesday) and use the rest for the kids packed lunches/snacks.0 -
Today I'm not at work, but I'm having a "using things up" day and eating food I already have rather than buying new things. I'm hopefully moving soon so don't really want to have to take a freezer full of food.WantToBeSE wrote: »Juno- Crumble is such a great name, and she (?) is beautiful! Lovely photo

Crumble and custard are great names for your cockatiels juno . Do they speak? A relative of mine had one that said pretty boy and then whistled the national anthem but refused to learn anything else.... I think the first million times they heard it it was 'cute' but wore thin!!! :T
wtbse thanks I did do well I am very interested in clean eating. I try to avoid processed food anyway but it means I will have to knock the quorn on the head.. never mind I will survive
Hope you're sausage rolls are nice.
So much for thinking outside the 'soup and salad box' for next weeks lunches. Our neighbor and I have a ys system whereby we buy double and share the loot when we find ys stuff. She struck gold at tesdco and we have a 1.5 kg bag of kale, a big bag of cabbage and broccoli prepared veg and cabbage and leek, a bag of spinach, a bag of mixed leaves, finest garlic and red pepper hummus and some celery and nut coleslaw. Ask for under 60p!! :j Really kind of her to donate it our way.
I have made soup from the broccoli and cabbage mix and have four lunches in the freezer ready to go (we also had some for teas tonight). I had salad hummus and coleslaw for lunch today.
My plan is to use the salad on Monday and then make soup with other mix for the rest of the week. Going to freeze the spinach and some of the Kale although I will use some for Sunday dinner tomorrow.
So no imaginative lunches next week but they will be cheap, healthy and nutritious and I can live with that.0
