I booked for the first time yesterday at a haven. The total price for 6 people was £59.25. Then the email with the service charge and entertainment passes arrived making in a total of £149.10. I checked with haven and the direct price and for exactly the same holiday is £125. Has anyone else had this problem?? The price match is only for holidays with groups of up to 4, even so the haven price for a group of 4 is still £125 for same holiday. Don't quite understand how sun holidays are a deal when it is cheaper to buy direct????

you do have to be careful about that - always sensible to check how much it would be to book direct and carefully check what all the add ons are. If you don't want to go at a peak time it is often as cheap, if not cheaper, just to book it direct

Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a park around an hour away from Drayton Manor? We normally go to Scotland or North East and my geography is shocking lol. Tia
Just wondering if you had found out the answer to your question as we are wondering too.
  • HI All,
I've just come on here to have a quick rant....
Booked a Butlins for 24th March Bognor 4 nights and got this lovely confirmation today direct from Butlins:
Accommodation Power Charge Promotion 4 x Simply Dine 4 x Entertainment Pass 1 x Linen
    38.00 40.00 0.00 280.00 48.00 14.00 = £420

    I booked self-catering 2 adults + 2 children. ARE THEY CRAZY!!!
You can do it cheaper through their website.
Utterly hacked off with them. £40 Power surcharge!!
    Honestly.
We've done Sun Holidays for 5 years twice a year and taken the rough with the smooth (don't do Pontins) but this has made me feel like a sitting duck and i resent it.
    Sorry for the rant :(

Unfortunately we were also surprised by the size of the surcharge (went Aug bank hol) we didn't have the half board though; looks like they've added that, easy to do as it isn't that clear when booking on the website.

As far as I know there isn't one round here (I'm about an hour away!) we're fairly central; most of the parks tend to be closer to the coast.
  • Don't these sun holidays work out a lot more expensive then they let on.

Sometimes they can. During school holidays the Sun Holidays are generally cheaper. Also the European holidays are generally cheaper with the Sun.

You need to do a bit of homework and find out what it would cost to go direct to your chosen park, then compare that against what the Sun holiday would cost.

For example, I found it cheaper to go direct with Butlins on the last October school midterm break due to the 50% off and kids eat free offer that Butlins had last year January.

Using the promotional code EXTRA, which expires on 21 January 2014, you could get that week for £160 for a standard apartment on a self catering basis.

A silver apartment would be £181 and a gold apartment would be £226.

A gold apartment with the dining plan would be £418.80.

If I was you I would forfeit the money I paid the Sun, and book direct. However, you need to do that before 21 January 2014, otherwise you will not be able to use the EXTRA promotional code.

You may also qualify for the Sun's money back guarantee. See their website for details.

  • Hi all. I'm after some help booking online. I requested 7 days in France (chose 4 dates/4 parks) but the options offered (none of my choices) were only for 4 days. Is that standard? Do you then book the other 3 days afterwards? I don't want to commit to a 4 day holiday if we can't go for 7 days!

    Thanks.

    Yes it is normal.

If the 7 day holidays are sold out, you will only be offered the 4 day or 3 day ones (if indeed there are even any of those left). There is no guarantee that once you have booked the 4 days that you will also be able to get a 3 day holiday to bolt onto your 4 day one.

Have you tried a separate search to see if a 3 day option comes up on either side of the 4 day one you have been offered?
