Sorry to hear about Maisie. Is she any better? You have me worried now - my JRT has been very lethargic and sleeping a lot - he usually runs around at the stables chasing everything and lately he just sits on a horse rug - am wondering whether to get him checked over.

Insurance is a tough one - my horses are fully insurance but my dogs not :/ I agree though that you mustn't feel bad cancelling the insurance - your own dogs come first x
  • Thanks Rosa :) sure I'll go on another guilt trip when I get the inevitable "you've cancelled your d/debit" letter

LAM ..... Maisie is normally on the go pretty much all day until she crashed out about 8pm - we can go a 1.5 hour walk with her playing "ball" for the vast majority .... she was knackered after 20 mins this morning :(

It was really her temperature I was worried about as it was coming up to them being closed for the weekend & emergency vets is ages away & costs a fortune

She's a b00ger for not letting on she's unwell - the last time she was .... droopy ... I ended up taking her & her temp was 106 deg  (which is brain damage level:eek:) - vet couldn't believe she was still conscious, let alone walking around & wagging her tail

If your JR has been quiet for a while with no obvious reason, I'd probably pop him along for a quick check up just to put your mind at rest more than anything

  • Decided to use one of the huge packs of Quorn mince (left from when I did fat club) and make some Spal Bol sauce tonight

Popped to C00p as needed bread & got some whoopsied mushrooms :j - it will be ...... very mushroomy ;)

  • It was rather yummy!:D

As some will know, Quorn can be a bit .... bland ..... and I found some Chorizo in the fridge so chopped some up and added it and .... OMG what a difference!:T

Have a HUGE pot-full so will def get some portions for the freezer .. yay!

It's getting a bit chilly down here (turned the heating off when I came back from walking Maisie about 6 as it was warm enough) so think it'll be an early night :o

Need to persuade Mia that it's time to go back upstairs .... she's currently flat out in Maisie's new bed (that she won't use!)

    How is Maisie doing?

Spag bol sounds delicious. I tried a couple of times with Quorn and I am still not sure - maybe need to add some Chorizo :D
  • *sigh* - she's getting there & had short bursts of energy but then is totally knackered (so not Maisie!)

We managed a bit further for our walk tonight but she crashed out within 5 mins of being back ...... really have no idea what it is / has been that's knocked her for 6:( (and she's even in her bed which she usually only goes into to sleep at bedtime - other times it's usually the sofa!)

I have a confession .... I'm bored :o It's a regular January thing :rotfl: it just seems such a ..... nothing month IYKWIM?

Progress has been made this week (maybe I need to set myself a weekly target of something money related to sort /do) with cancelling the d/debits AND I went into the bank and checked the dormant account is still active and ordered a new card for it (it is a savings account only & I can't access it online / don't have a switch card - it's solely cash withdrawals but that's fine for what I need)

*sigh* ....is it nearly the weekend?

  • Moan alert .......

Managed to annoy myself re the cost of groceries (again:o) last night.

No wonder my grocery bill is so high:

    2 Litres "normal" milk = £1 so say £3 / week
    2 Litres Lactofree milk = £2.60 so £ 7.80 / week

    That's nearly £5 / week extra on milk .........

    48 Own brand Wheetabix = £2.48
    48 Oatibix (2 x 24 packs - these are the biggest) = £5.36

So that's £2.88 difference there too (and that's not even a month's worth)

I bet at least £10 / week is accounted for by having to use non-standard foods ...

:( as Beanielou says, total PITA.

I hope the costs are going to come down over time. It's particularly annoying as some of the problems are caused by overuse of cheap ingredients in normally unrelated foods anyway.
