Hi all :hello:
Sorry to hear more sad news NYD - keep your chin up as best you can and let the debt slaying take a back seat. There are just more important things in life sometimes!
Glad to see so many getting on with their 2014 goals, I'd like to say I'm doing really well with mine, but, well, I SUCK!! haha!! Time to crack open a new can of motivation I think..
In 2014 I'd like to...
1. Become debt free (preferably a couple of months earlier than my current DFD of August) All that remains is a final BT balance of £1560ish. This is 0% interest until 1st November. Due to house-moving this has been set at £50 per month fixed DD and will take a back seat until we move. I'll then attack this last, pesky bit of debt with nothing but shear venom!!!
2. Save £2k toward house deposit So yeah, this is happening!! We should be in by the end of June - I need as close to £2k as I can get for fees, I'm on £1190 at the moment with two pay days to go. I'll have £440 from May and if I can match that in June I'll be happy!
3. Get to the gym 3 times a week and get healthy - hopefully this will put me back under 10st. I am nothing but utterly useless at this. I don't have any real excuse either cos I always complain I'm chubs...
4. Drink at least a litre of water a day - I know it should be more but at the moment I barely drink a single sip so a litre will be a good increase! Done better at this one this month, although I pee alot
5. Book a holiday after avoiding anything longer than a weekend away during 2013 Again, may have to wait but we'll see how the house purchasing goes. I may win the lottery yet!!
6. Teach myself to play a song on a guitar - need to find a guitar first! A post-birthday aim in September
7. Teach myself to juggle I'm not sure I am cut out to be a juggler but I'll keep trying!!Nest Egg Savings Target: £7300/£10,000
Wedding Savings: £2660/£8,0000% Credit Card Debt Jan 2017: £20640 -
What a fantastic idea. Bit late, but I'm glad I spotted this.
1. Pay off my final debt. £2000 B/T on Barclaycard.
2. Be more assertive. I'm too nice for my own good and have problems saying no to people.
3. Get healthy. Join a gym, loose a little weight and tone up.
4. Begin my P/T degree with the OU. To help me progress further in my field.
5. Read and write more. I love reading plus I'm an aspiring writer.
6. Continue to build up savings. Both long term and short term.
7. Tidy up my finances. Close old unused accounts and stick to one bank account and two credit cards.
8. Understand stocks and investments. Finally in a position where I can start to invest a good chunk each month. However, it's being stored into a temporary savings account right now until I get to grips with stocks and investments.
9. Donate to charity. Need to pick something close to my heart and set up a DD to make a small donation each month.
Will probably add more when they come to mind!0 -
Ok, have decided to shift the goal posts as I don't see my original starting goals as being totally relevant for the rest of this year. sometimes real life intervenes. Below are what are started out with and where things stand now. then, if anyone can stick around for that long, after that will be the updated list.
Get sugar control (I'm diabetic)
made some inroads at start of the year but think i've slipped! bloods scheduled for end of may
2. Work out what I need in a savings pot and go for it
have amount in mind and that's been achieved
3. Make mortgage overpayments equivalent to 3x monthly payment
see sig for progress
4. Lose weight. Weighed in at 14.5 stone on 01 jan. Am aiming for 14 stone by 01 march
Mr Wii told me I'm up 3 pounds since start of the year
5. Declutter
some more items identified to go to charity. just need to get them out the door.
6. Take garden in hand
i wish the rain would stop
7. Start 'flylady' daily routines
like flylady says, babysteps
8. Get rid of ugly clothes bought because they fit and not cos they were nice.
2 more to go to charity. not only are they horrible on me, they are knackered
9. Appreciate my home and make it nicer
see 7.
10.be more disciplined in my job
currently a rollercoaster
11. Be more consistent in dealing with others
see 10
12. Be less wasteful
being a lot more mindful re waste
13. Donate
Still on to do though some items earmarked
14. Volunteer
structured volunteering isn't on the radar this year. am ditching this as i dont want to start seeing helping people as meeting my objective.
15. Cook more
to be replaced by eat out less / fewer takeaways
so, the revised list
1. Get sugar control (I'm diabetic)
2. put savings in best place possible
3. Make mortgage annual overpayments equivalent to 4x monthly payment plus interest
4. Lose weight. Now at 14 stone 10lbs on 03 May. Need to start averaging a loss of 1lb a week.
5. Declutter
6. Take garden in hand
7. expand 'flylady' daily routines
8. Get rid of ugly clothes bought because they fit and not cos they were nice.
9. Appreciate my home and make it nicer
10.be more disciplined in my job
12. Be less wasteful
13. Donate
15. eat out less, fewer takeaways (inc lunch)
all, please please please, feel free to nag me re the above. i need the peer pressure:pMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes.
