  • So sorry to hear of your loss NYD. :( Thinking of you. xxxx
    SPC 18 Target £200 /
  • Hope everything is going as well as it can NYD x

Just returned for yet another end of month round up. How is it practically April already?! That's a quarter of 2014 gone

    In 2014 I'd like to...

    1. Become debt free (preferably a couple of months earlier than my current DFD of August) Ok so the loan is GONE!! Whoop! :j I have £1680 left on the BC and need to clear £120 in April so the rest is on 0% until November. The card will then take a backseat a little as something has come up....
    2. Save £2k toward house deposit Aaaaargh! This is happening so much sooner than we thought! We've found a house, we have our DIP and we've picked our kitchen and bathroom! Just need to get through the full mortgage application and potentially we exchange at the end of April. The £2k target will come to the forefront as soon as April payday comes around - need as many pennies as possible before July :o
    3. Get to the gym 3 times a week and get healthy - hopefully this will put me back under 10st. I completely suck at this.
    4. Drink at least a litre of water a day - I know it should be more but at the moment I barely drink a single sip so a litre will be a good increase! I'm even slipping at this one too :(
    5. Book a holiday after avoiding anything longer than a weekend away during 2013 May have to wait longer - house purchase is taking precedent!
    6. Teach myself to play a song on a guitar - need to find a guitar first! Will aim to do this by my birthday in September.

As an addition I would also like to teach myself to juggle. Not sure why but I've been watching a couple of how to videos and practising so watch this space!! - I've been practicing. I'm not good though!
    Nest Egg Savings Target: £7300/£10,000
    Wedding Savings: £2660/£8,000
    0% Credit Card Debt Jan 2017: £2064
  • Hi dfb30, best of luck with the house purchase. It can be really exciting and may prompt a total redraft of the 2014 goals. Must try harder on the water but re the gym, if you deep down know it's not going to happen, why not divert that money to the £2k pot? I will be back later to declare my own shameful doings or lack thereof.
Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Progress not perfection.:T100%through my 1% mortgage challenge. 100% through my pb challenge.

    Update Time!

    1. Save 7k (with a minimum of 1.6k if I do not succeed). ~3k at the moment. Woo!
    2. Use my CC to improve my credit rating as I'm hoping for a mortgage one day. Yup, using it, it is also doubling up as a second DD for my rewards account.
    3. With no. 2 in mind- stay out of debt. DD is set up for full repayment.
    4. Start and complete AAT level 2. About to book a test.
    5. Start and complete AAT level 3.... Not yet.
    6. Start investing- I want a relatively passive income and aim to get £500 per month by 30. I'm 23.. and three quarters :rotfl:24 now and haven't invested anything.
    8. Learn to count. Eh
    9. Improve my skills/get a better job I feel ill so I'm just not applying for jobs..

    :hello: INOD

I have a confession - I didn't even renew my gym membership at the beginning of the year as I felt I'd be so lame at going! I used to run quite a bit and I've done a bout of the insanity workouts before so I have plenty of opportunity to workout at home. But have I done it? Big fat chubby NO! The extra weight is getting me down and has done for ages so I need to sort my head out and get on it. I have a place on this years Great North Run and want to do much better than my previous time of 2hr41!! (My training schedule died about 3 months before that one a couple of years ago) Must get moving :o

    Hello.

I hope you don't mind me joining in so late in the year.
I figure any date to start goals is a good date.
    Why wait until January 1st?!?!
    Haha.

I've made a list and will be starting it from April 1st.
    1. Start and finish 4 already owned books
    2. Don't buy any more books
    3. Watch at least 7 films on my previously written "Films I want to watch" list
    4. Start paying off debt to mum (owe £3080 - would like to get that down to at least £2500 by end of year)
    5. Start saving for a house deposit of £5000 (goal of a minimum of £1500 by end of 2014)
    6. Declutter
    7. Weigh 9st (currently around 10st7)
    8. Go to WW meeting every Thursday unless physically impossible due to work/being away (even if I know I'm going to be over my 5lb goal buffer - suck it up and pay the fee - should teach me to be good)
    9. Attend at least one gym class every week (unless physically impossible to work/being away)
    10. Take part in the £10 per day challenge
    11. Save £500 so I can pay January 2015 car insurance in a lump sum
    12. Save £300 for presents for Christmas 2014
    13. Stick with my £10 weekly pleasure allowance
    14. Increase board from £20 p/w to £25 p/w
    15. Wash up for mum at least once p/w
    16. Catch up with Game of Thrones with OH
    17. Walk at least 10,000 steps per day
    18. Finish my WDW '11 album (fill in all pages)
    19. Stop buying notebooks

At the beginning of the year, I would've had "Save £1000 emergency fund" on this list as well, but I achieved that on monday and I'm so pleased about it.
It is now squirrelled away into one of my mum's savings accounts so I can't spend it willy nilly - I can get to it, but because it's her account (and it doesn't have a debit card attached), I have to ask her to get it out for me.

Everyone is doing brilliantly with their goals.
    Keep up the good work.

Hopefully I will have similar success with mine.
    Debts (as of 28/10/15)
    Mum: Start £3426.00 Now £2655.00 22.5% Car (on finance): Start 13823.60 Now £8728.59 36.85%
    Current Debt Free Day: 12/1/2019

    Goals:
    £2000 emergency fund £800/£2000 40%
    £5000 House Deposit £62.09/£5000 1.24%
Car Finance Settlement Fee As of 28/10/15 £0.00/£7152.18 0%
  • Hi elfy and welcome on board - welcome to the wannabe debtfree, slim and all round better person thread. For me, i'm not sure if it's inspirational or aspirational but the posting once a week does !!!!! my conscience (esp when I'm late)

NYD, not sure if you're able to peep in but if so, we're all thinking of you.

    1. Get sugar control (I'm diabetic)
Need to get myself into gear with this one. i know i'm slipping into bad habits
    2. Work out what I need in a savings pot and go for it
Cash holding upped by £10. had to divert money towards paying for flights
    3. Make mortgage overpayments equivalent to 3x monthly payment
whoop whoop. hit this target for q1. also, added to it and covered the cost of the interest charge. this has reduced by 7.94 per quarter.
    4. Lose weight. Weighed in at 14.5 stone on 01 jan. Am aiming for 14 stone by 01 march
Mr Wii told me I'm down a pound - this still leaves me 1 pound more than at the start of the year
    5. Declutter
four more items identified - two for charity shop and two for dump. have also found someone who wants some other stuff I have. i just need to dig it out and i will pass it to them next tuesday.
    6. Take garden in hand
    :(
    7. Start 'flylady' daily routines
Not brilliant but no major slippage. i need more of a push on decluttering to really make these work
    8. Get rid of ugly clothes bought because they fit and not cos they were nice.
one very tired suit and a jumper that's just wrong heading to charity

    9. Appreciate my home and make it nicer

10.be more disciplined in my job
    It's coming together
    11. Be more consistent in dealing with others
    As 10
    12. Be less wasteful

Still on to do though some items earmarked
    14. Volunteer
really not sure where this is sitting
    15. Cook more

  • Hi everyone - just to let you know that I'm back, perhaps not quite 'back in the groove' but certainly back in the UK! Just wanted to say a big thank you for all of your support, it really has meant an awful lot to me and helped me to just chill a little so thank you all for that. I managed a sneaky peek now and then but couldn't post so sorry if I've missed out on anything! Everyone is doing great with their goals and I see a few new faces and updates so nice to have you on board!

I'll be updating my goals in a jiffy even though there has been very little progress since the week before last! :)
