  • Am I allowed to ask questions here when thinking about how to best economise?

My Q is, who online grocery shops? Does anyone do tescos block delivery charge? I'm wondering if this would be more economical and help with meal planning.

I wish I had a chest freezer for bulk buying meat and batch cooking!

Sorry if this post isn't right for the thread, not sure of the rules yet.
    Happy!

You can ask any questions you like here, and if nobody knows the answer someone can probably point you in the right direction of someone who does! :D

I do my shopping online with the upfront delivery - neither me or DH can drive and we'd never end up doing proper shopping if it meant dragging it on the bus :o I like being able to see exactly how much the shopping will come to - at the mo we've got a delivery booked for this Sunday and the next one - both £6 delivery slots to make the most of the saver thing :rotfl:
  • Yeah seeing the balance is definitely a plus! And not having to see/smell all the goodies.

I'm terrible for nipping to asda most days so the thought of this is making me sweat a bit! Makes me worried I'll not have as much control/convenience. That alone means tesco would probably be financially wise ha!
    Happy!
  • Haha yeah it definitely saves me money when I shop online because I do a meal plan before hand and just stick to the bits I need for the week and don't get distracted with crisps and muffins and the such like!! Plus you can do your shopping in your pyjamas with a cup of tea so what's not to like about that?! :D
  • That's it, you've convinced me! :)
    Happy!
  • I'm aiming for....£15000 as my figure please :( it looks quite daunting seeing it in writing,
though I have made a start on it!

Yes, we use Tesco delivery saver. We'd stopped having it delivered as we can only have Sat/Sun delivery because of work and it was £5 or 6 per delivery. We have the any time delivery saver at £10 a month, and find it has reduced our grocery shopping by £100 a month as you know exactly what you are spending and only buy what you need. I do the food plan, list and the order Thurs night for Saturday delivery. It's also stopped the need for top up shops through the week as we buy exactly what we need.

    Happy new year everyone.

I've managed to pay off £25 off today which was spare in my account before tax credits came in so off it went :j

I need to update my final total as I've realised I can pay off all our debt by xmas using the snowball calculator. I'll do it this evening as I'm on my phone.

Hope everyone has a frugal day :money:

Suzitiger - I did yours on the spreadsheet too :)

ETA: Hope you sort out your possible DMP/new debt plan out. It seems there are always hills on the road to being DF.

Thank you Jonesy you are a star. Yes agreed, I think it will help me budget a lot better and I hope I can also make extra payments with the money I make from challenges on here.
Thanks jonesy and suzitiger - you've been a real help today - it's been a long day of packing, tidying, 6 hours of travelling and then unpacking again...

Back to work tomorrow. Less than excited about that; the last day before Christmas, they had a bad announcement that could lead to redundancies, and I'm not sure what sort of atmosphere to expect.

Suzitiger my sister and mum both entered into debt management plans, and if you feel a little bit like you're drowning in it, it's a good thing to do. If you want someone else to help with it, look around - I think my sister used a council service before (I don't know if it was stepchange or the local authority), but later found a group through her local church which worked a lot better for her (she's not religious btw, they were happy to help non-congregation)

I hope it all went OK on your first day back, and thank you for the advice I really need to work out all my options with this. It's mainly the bank charges that have got me into this situation again. :(
    It's because I can't budget, sighhhhh.
    Evening everybody!! :D

I spent a lot of time yesterday sorting out my bedroom - since we moved nearly 6 months ago there is still junk everywhere that hasn't been organised or sorted through so I made an effort to shift some of that. I think apart from expensive stuff I'm done with selling now though - I just cannot work up the time and effort needed to even photograph things let alone actually list them or post them and it's so expensive so nuts to it, everything just goes to the charity shop or bin and I instantly feel happier because it's out of my hair rather than waiting around for ages to flog something!! :rotfl:

Apart from that I've been doing my meal planning for the next three weeks :D All my Tesco shopping is ordered, I know what we're having every night and even have a few treat bits for my week of night shifts :p LOVE being this organised and it's saving us money too - last week was the first time in AGES that we've not ended up having at least one takeaway because there was no food in the house or we couldn't be bothered :A

Yes Ruby!! I know how you feel. I have been having a good organise and tidy today and I feel your pain RE selling, I managed to do a few bitys before Xmas, I will try and do a few every month now. OH and I have done a meal plan for this week too so that feels great to have that organised :)
