Minicooper you're doing a fab updating job! Just popped on to help and you've done it lol :)

I am having a DFW crisis. I want a baby and a house. Now. My head says wait until the debt is gone, then you can start properly looking at houses and TTC etc. My heart says meh debt, shmebt - it's "only" the car! Arghhh!! Internal battle. I spoke to OH and we agreed to look at our situation again in May. So that leaves me with 5 months to clear the debt so i don't have to argue with myself again (I sound mad!)

I also understand the lure of the n3xt account - mine is currently clear but i can't bring myself to close it. I promised OH in our next house he can have a stripey chair they do - he's wanted one for years and its 0% on their big purchases.

i'm gonna be honest - i've got the same dilemma. i talked to someone not long ago and they were like, oh it's only a hire purchase - they won't care as long as it's a small amount remaining and you're paying on time. so i am very much in two minds... i used a couple of calculators for mortgages and it didn't seem to affect the amount we can borrow, we have a set figure in mind so as long as we can get that its ok. i think i have decided for now to carry on saving and then decide what to do when i'm there! the HP will be paid off by march 2015 anyway (end of finance term), so hm.

  • Hi Mini

Lurked on the forums for 3+ years and today I have come out of the shadows to say 'sign me up!'

My 2014 target is my total debt figure which is now £7660 - have to wait til later in the month to pay anything off sadly, but intend to finally get rid of my debt this year. At the age of 45 I will be debt free for the first time since 16!!!

Looking forward to this challenge :D
  • I am loving this challenge - I have so far received some refund cheques from British Gas when we moved and they owed us money and I have claimed for the theatre trip (part of my benefits at work) which I have not added to my balance yet as it is not paid. I also cancelled English Heritage as we do not use it - they will pro-rata repay the annual subscription. Now going to try the same with Boris Bikes and then I will complete my PPI Claim form. So looking positive and highly likely I may hit my target and be free of the dreaded £7K...
Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!
