Quick semi update, I am temporarily in more debt - due to car insurance! 657 pounds plus a 171 bt fee on the original debt. Had to move it, no job from Aug so wanted a longer bt in case.

the insurance will paid off this month so am not asking to change my amount, just felt I should check in and say hi

    hope all is well XX

i will be the same re car insurance but i think it's probably easier to pay it off than pay it off monthly and incur the extra interest. for my OH it was good bcause of the black marks on his file, it shows he can pay stuff off on time :T
  • Hi! Please could I join you all? My total debt is

    £12,477

    I've already saved £2,450 towards this :j

Not sure how realistic Xmas is for paying the above off, as husband is currently unemployed so all depends how quickly he finds something else and how much he will be earning. I'll also be going off on maternity leave mid-June so the income from my earnings will take a hit then too. Still, can give it a good shot! :)

Ooh I have a Fiat 500... You're right, they're so cost effective to run. I can fill it up on about £25 (depending on fuel prices/ discounts) and tax is £20 a year. I have a few years no claims so insurance is quite cheap too. I love it! :-)

Looking forward to DH's payday on Friday. I started a new job a few weeks ago, the company payday is Thursday but I don't actually know if I will get paid on this one as I might have started after the payday cut off. If I do get paid then it could be one week / two weeks or a month (which I doubt because I will have only worked 3 weeks by then). I'm being realistic and expecting no pay, so if I do get paid then it's a bonus (so to speak).

  • Hello gang!
Just a quick check in from me - have been very thrifty this month and was trundling along - made quite a bit on ebay last week and decided to treat myself to a couple of new dresses for work (one of which needs returning anyway!) and have found a big leak in the kitchen now so feel pretty down in the dumps about that! Went on ratedpeople last night to try find someone to come and sort it out but no takers so far which is a bit pants :( Moneywise I extended my overdraft again (boo!!) so that I would have money in my account if anyone would come and fix it - will end up ringing people tomorrow about it as I start night shifts tomorrow so will at least be at home during the day although wanting to be asleep - but has made me really want to sort out the kitchen properly - I knew it was a bit scabby but know it's all leaky and rotten and icky and I want a new one!! Was hoping to just get this debt cleared this year and leave the house alone as much as possible but that may not be an option

I don't know how bad the kitchen is, but if you can try and live with it, why not work out what the interest would be on it, and work out some fancy bits for the kitchen you'd rather have instead of oaying that interest :)

Car insurance, a necessary evil. Mine isn't too bad, but my niece paid £2200 last year due to only being 19, having. 1.6L car and living in SE London. Oh, and only having a licence for 4 months when she got the car. She is hoping that she will see quite a reduction this year.

Roll on Friday. Nearly payday :D
