Debt-free and Proud! Mortgage-free Glee!
edited 26 December 2013 at 11:37AM in Site feedback and Forum Help
Hi everyone and Happy Christmas, I hope you are all having a wonderful time :)

I was looking at the forum today, as I do every day being a real :money: addict, and have noticed in the last few weeks how busy the front/first page has become with stickies and challenges. At the moment there are 26 topics on the front/first page - 6 are stickies and 12 are challenges. While I think the challenges are fantastic and extremely motivating, I think that people's urgent "problems" get overlooked and disappear very quickly to the second or even third page.

I am an ardent member of the payment a day challenge and this is located in the DFW sub forum of Debt Free Diaries. I have never really understood why but am happy to go and subscribe or even just hunt it out each day.

I wondered if it would be possible to set up a new sub forum for all the challenges so people could easily find them and this would help leave the front/first page for the stickies and one off threads.

What does everyone think?

  • I agree. Most days I have a quick look but the first page seems to contain no questions or posts of that nature so I move on.

Sub section like the Diaries one would be great.

I'll wait so see if there are more opinions on this over the next few days, then I'll bump the thread over to Site Feedback and send MSE Team a link. :)

Definitely a good idea, people will be able to find the challenges, but new people won't be put off with no responses, so has to be good for all.
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post
  • Good idea!
  • I think this is a brilliant idea!

I am also getting really fed up of having a browse on the DFW section and scanning down the first page, only to see a load of challenges or daily motivational posts - gosh that sounds like I'm a right scrooge! I'm not, honest, it's just that I want to be able to read posts from people who need help or ideas, because then I can either help them or gain ideas from the very helpful folk on here.

I think a sub-section would be great, and would tidy this board up a bit. It would be less daunting for newbies or people who need to post and are not getting any responses and who are losing their posts onto page 2+ in a matter of hours.
  • Agree too! I'm quite new to the challenges, but find I have to hunt around to see the new ones each month - so a separate sub forum would be very helpful to challengers as well as keeping the front page free for urgent threads.

I was only thinking this the other day. I like to look at threads where someone is generally in need of some advice that I could impart (!) and i tend to lose interest if I have to scroll through the first few pages just to get to a 'real' problem.

I think a sub board for the challenges is a great idea - The Payment A Day board was invaluable to me and went a long way to helping me get to my DFD earlier that I could have hoped.
