Evening everyone, well what a day i have been worried sick DD2 (new mummy) has been up at the hospital all day having tests for appendicitis, kidney infection and bladder infection after numerous tests they still dont know what is causing the pain, so she had an AB drip, 48hr painkilling pessary and ABs to take home with her, they did want to keep her in over night but she wanted to be home with her little man and as he is so little they agreed, but will check on her in the morning
it doesnt matter how old your kids get you still worry yourself silly over them

I've been loft organising this morning to put decoration boxes back and have found a bag of things I ordered early in the year and guessuwhat? I did buy blinking Christmas cards as I thought I had. Oh well I now have double!!!
.
Yup, I did the same (and with wrapping a paper, gift bags...) no danger of running out now! Tree is now up, today has been a day to have a good tidy up and a bit of a rearrange and to get OH to do some jobs that have been pending for some time
I've wrapped all the presents I have so far, decided to get it out of the way cos I find it such a chore! I now very seem to get any better at it over the years either!
All presents now purchased apart from one, just waiting for a good alcohol offer to come up. Need to make sure OH's sticking present actually fit in the stocking :rotfl:0 -
Jacqui, like the idea of the scratch card tree and hope she wins lots of money! My sister always buys her FIL scratch cards for Christmas - he loves scratching them off even if he doesn't win lol.
Deannatrois, welcome to the thread - now you've posted you have to stay aroundSo sorry to hear of the problems you've been having and really hope you find somewhere nice to live if the LL sells yours house - maybe it'll go to someone buying it as an investment and you'll be able to stay. Same thing happened to DD this year and the buyer was an investor so she's staying on. I really hope the new social worker turns out to be really good and can help you. I used to work for what was the DHSS in the days of Supplementary Benefit plus I was a single parent for many years so I've got a fairly good understanding of benefits but to be honest I don't know how anyone keeps track of then now. The whole thing seems crazy and how people are supposed to know if they've been overpaid I just don't know. Sending you hugs and positive vibes. Thanks for the turkey tip by the way, I've not cooked it before (usually have chicken) so I'm going to try it your way as I'm doing it this year. Fingers crossed cos I'm rubbish in the kitchen and although OH does most of the cooking he does have a tendency to overcook everything!
GTQ and Freespirit, thanks for your reheating tips too. Freespirit, sounds like a horrendous day, so worrying and it's awful waiting for test results at the best of times. Hope DD is soon on the mend. You're so right, when you have children you have no idea that it's a job for the whole of your life - you never ever stop worrying about them, you just worry about different things!
Quidsy, I did it the other way around to you - thought I'd bought Christmas cards and turns out I hadn't (unless I just haven't found them of course)
On the Christmas front, the living room decs are up and so is the tree. Have put the lights on it but seriously debating getting LEDs instead so they don't get hot so I haven't put all the tree decs on yet in case I swap the lights tomorrow. Hoping to get hall decs done tomorrow too but going to DD for dinner so may end up doing it Monday. Watched two Christmas films today and now watching the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special for about the 8th time this year. I've got it on DVD but still have to watch it if I see it's on TV lol. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Evening everyone. Hope everyone is well. Hugs and thoughts with those who need them, congratulations or commiserations to those who need them and welcome to any newbies. My apologies for being so brief, but I'll admit it, I've far too much to catch up on here now and I'm too lazy to try to.
Well my plans went down the toilet today. I had it all planned, Christmas presents finished today, wrapping started tonight, start putting the tree and decorations up tomorrow. All that went to pot when I arrived home from work yesterday with a banging headache, couldn't get heat into me and was exhausted. That was on top of having a throat like sandpaper from yesterday morningWent to bed with onesie on and the electric blanket on at 4pm yesterday and didn't wake until 9pm. Came downstairs for something to eat and was then too warm, so had to strip and was back in bed for 10.30 and slept right through till 11pm this morning:eek:
Feeling a bit better today but not 100% yet. So yeah my plan didn't materialise into anything.
Hubby took kiddies out for the day to give me time to laze about. He took them Christmas shopping and did well TBH. Managed to buy the presents for the 2 older kids friends, and they were on sale according to him lol. They also bought some new Christmas jumpers for the children's Christmas day in school this Tuesday.
We've also acquired 2 new Christmas jumpers for the Christmas Elves to wear when they arrive. They will arrive tomorrow night when the decorations are up (hopefully)
He did say that they went into all the Argos and Homebase shops they passed trying to get these bloomin Text Santa pin badges but not one member of staff in any of the shops had heard of them:mad:
Wish we could just buy them online from the ITV site and have done with it for goodness sake.
He done well lol, less stress for me and a few more things ticked off the list lol.
Here's hoping I'm feeling better tomorrow, I'm hungry and fed up with having an itchy throat nowPay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
Morning.
Hugs Freespirit, hope your daughter is ok. Is it maybe something from the birth? My friend had ruptured something inside and it took a while to find out what. She was in a lot of pain.
I still have loads of pressies to buy. Money is the problem this year. I haven't been able to save any through the year. Too many big bills and job issues. So I'm buying a couple of pressies a week. I'm running out of weeks though :-(
The elves left some cupcake cases and blue and white sugar snowflakes to make 'Frozen' cupcakes. So that's what me and the kids will be making later.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Morning all,
Well today is a massive tidying up session just as soon as I'm fully awake ! DD has agreed to let me tidy her cupboards as long as she get to use the label maker [I suspect if it doesn't move it will be labelled!]
I managed to get her out for an hour yesterday just to pound land and Wilkinsons before her foot started to hurt, we bought some card making items at £land and although not in the sale Christmas cards for next year [3 for 2] £4 for 45 cards.
Its very grey and windy here might have to hunt out the bungees for the bins otherwise they will be all over the place! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Evening everyone, i have been sifting through my christmas recipes today to decide on what needs to be made or baked, and made my menu for xmas eve, xmas day, boxing day, the 27th and 28th and nye and nyd, i am so late doing them this year usually i got half my baking done and in the freezer by now
DD2 still in pain, the painkilling pessary lasted 3 hrs, but when she messaged the surgeon he said there were no more scan appointments for today but he would get her one made
PEPPAPIG thankyou for thinking of DD2, i suppose a mum is a mum no matter how old the kids :rotfl::rotfl:
IRISHROSE aww i hope you feel better soon you sound like you have worn yourself out with all the christmas prep
NIC thankyou for thinking of DD2, well i have wondered if it is connected to the infection she has had for over 4 weeks where the stitches were, im worried it has travelled ????? But like you say it could have ruptured something, hopefully she will get her scan and they can get a better idea, hope you have a lovely day making cupcakes
CHRISSYG i hope your DDs foot hurries up and heals, no wonder she is down
RUTHHONEY how is your eye? and are you feeling any better?#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
Reheating sliced meat in this house is done in gravy - make your gravy and put it on the stove on low then pop the meat in, only takesa couple of mins and doesnt dry out.
Sorry I have been so absent, i have no hope of reading back so hope everyone is getting on ok. Life has been a bit difficult here to say the least. I really have not known which way to turn! I know we all have our ups and downs but sometimes it whacks you for 6 doesnt it.
Almost finished my shopping, and sadly I have no idea how much I have spent. My app corrupted! I think I am roughly on target though frankly not sure I give a damn! I am soooo looking forward to Christmas week as my Op will be done and I can finally chill and spend time with the people I really want too. :jLife happens, live it well.0
