I think Christmas is off here this year, Monday night my gran had a fall, we had an ambulance out but they could find nothing wrong with her, but she'd suddenly gone from nothing to 2 falls in a week. Tuesday mum took her to the Doctors, they found the cause of the falls, low blood pressure, so they changed her tablets up and mum moved in with her.Wed morning her osteoporosis took effect, she can't lift her head from her chest now. They gave it until yesterday for the change in tablets to take effect, the doctor was coming to decide if she needed to go to hospital or not, he said she could go into hospital but she wouldn't come back out, and what with the diseases in there it would probably just kill her quicker. They wont say how long, we don't know if were looking at days, or weeks, or months.
In 2 months shes gone from someone ok couldn't get around great (osteoporosis and a old injury), but living alone, and cooking her own meals, to mum making her meals, then in a couple days to someone who can't get up from a chair or lift their own head.
The hardest thing is my mum is preparing for months, she's preparing for the long haul, but I think weeks is more realistic.
My family have a bad track record with Christmas, 4th Dec, 20th Dec, Christmas day, right after the fireworks New Years Day. when I told my sister she said as long as she doesn't die at Christmas, I told her to get a grip and be realistic lol.
I however have agreed to take part in a couple secret santas, and a decoration swap, so Christmas continues here. I'm hoping to get my hands on a pyrography kit, they have just come back in stock on hobbycraft online, but I'm going to try my luck in store today before I order it online, can't be doing with the waiting up to a week!
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -
Great news about JJ, hope she is feeling heaps better x
I'm so tempted to get the decorations up this weekend. Only because I want to get the boxes out the cupboard so I can hide the kids Christmas pressies. It's a cupboard they would never go in with a Z bed sitting in front. But I do feel its a tad early. Might get them out and hold off til next weekend at least
All the November birthdays are over. Well my sisters is next Friday but I have her pressie organised, so I can start to enjoy the Christmas prep.
We may be having Christmas dinner at our house again. We had 11 for dinner last year and it went great, as I prepped everything on Christmas Eve. I even cooked and sliced the turkey and gammon and stored it in the gravy to reheat in trays.
Just waiting for everyone to decide what's we are all doing x:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
I also joined Slimming world a couple weeks back, I didn't want to make a big deal Incase I didn't stick it. But I am in the zone. I've lost 8lbs in 2 weeks so got my 1/2 stone award last night. I also got Slimmer of the week and won the raffle prize, :j:j so I had a great night and feeling really positive today.
I have been feeling really unhappy with myself for a long time. And was in a habit of having a bottle of wine and a big bag of share crisps every weekend
Also working in the pub I feel really self conscious as people watch you. It will be hard over Christmas, I'm not going to deny myself on Christmas Day, but ill cut down on crisps, nuts and sweets which usually I'm cramming in my mouth at every opportunity x:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Sorry to hear about your Gran Pixtotts. Things may change once she is in hospital and they run more tests. Sending you hugs xx:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0

Hugs Pix, it is so difficult to know what to do or feel, just try & enjoy every moment you can. Lost mine 3 years ago, at her age we knew it was going to be sooner rather than later, but it was still a shock when the hospital phoned to say she had gone, especially as my mum had been in to see her 12 hours beforehand and she had been in cracking form, just went peacefully in her sleep. Mind you, I reckon she did it on purpose as it was the weekend the riots kicked off, and she knew we would all go home (west of Ireland) for funeral so would be safe!A smile costs little but creates much0
