Afternoon everyone,
I have been trying to turn my house from a blooming mess into a tidy home today, im struggling to keep up with housework, washing, my challenges etc etc todayOwn_My_Own wrote: »Evening.
I have a headache.
I downloaded a really good app yesterday called cartoon hd. If you have an apple device and kids get it. ( not sure if it's available on android). It has loads of free films and cartoons available to watch for free. I watched The Croods last night. ( ok so maybe you don't need kids to get it !
)
Then this evening Ds bought me a late Christmas present. One of his friends was selling a Apple TV box for £30. So after an hour of setting it up (reason for headache) we can now watch them via Bluetooth on the TV. The picture isn't great, but no worse than a good pirate. ( not that we have any to compare it to).
FM loved all his presents. Dd loved his pillow pet a bit too much. She has decided he can't use 2 at the same time. She thinks they should share them. Never mind I have another one put away for next Christmas and DS found a Spurs one on Amazon today. :rotfl:
Am off to bed now or I will never get up for work.
Thats you me and NANAMIA with headaches grrr must be the time of year, one of the dvds i ordered for my xmas eve hamper was the croodshow lovely of DS to buy that for you bless him, and i dont blame DD for wanting one of those pillow pet i quite fancied one myself when i saw your pic
Freespirit I really have been amazed at the amount you've managed in these last few daysYou truly are inspirational
Weirdly I've had a pesky headache the last few days, lurking but not shifting and blooming backache (like Mrs M no idea why or how) but very very sore. Was almost in tears yesterday with it, it's lasted about 5 days now- thankfully easing today. Thank you for remembering DGD2 starts nursery in the morning, bless her, DD said she was still awake about 20 mins ago! Just like DS, he never slept before the start of something either she is so like him
DD thinks it's her curse haha makes me giggle that her daughter is so like her brother (the one that she spent her entire childhood/teenage years fighting with)
Well finally today I've actually managed to chip away at my to-do-list. I'm going to try and follow along with the flylady tomorrow at least, hopefully make some progress before the "bedroom project" begins.
Oh NANAMIA i hope you have rested your back and its not got any worse, aah poor DD its a sign her little girl is growing up, thats funny how she takes after her uncle, aah hope she has a great morning. I have just finished With Love at Christmas by Carole Matthews i am definitely going to look for some more by her i absolutely loved her style of writing, in fact i miss having it to read now. Hoping DD2 will pass on this years book by her
Well you really inspired me to decorate my LR and i picked up some sugar soap and dust sheets at the weekend and have decided on my wallpaper just for the one wall.I've not gone anywhere.. just nothing of any importance to say..
I had missed you on here, glad you are ok, hope your brood are all ok#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
I do have one moan!
I realized my phone bill was extra high and I knew the only think that should of been charged was a justiving text donating £1 to the charity supporting my brain disease! Anyway I phoned vodaphone up and they gave me a 0844 number which I wrote down .. they said it wasnt including in my 300 minutes of 08 numbers as it only includes 0800 0845 0870 I googled said number and its my doctor surgery! I am so annoyed £23 it has cost me to speak to them over the past month! Anyway! I guess we all learn! Going to need to tweak my budget now to cover the extra cost!
Love and hugs and positive vibes to all!
1 thing that made me smile today
playing play station with my autistic older brother
OMG i cant believe the drs is an 0844 number?? that is blooming awful, christ can they think of any more ways to grab money out of everyone?Well faced the dreaded post christmas weigh in and can announce a gain of 3lb. Not as bad as I expected so can live with that. Now let's get rid of itxxx
Oh NANAMIA well done you i have just gone through my cupboard and still have boxes of chocs, biscuits, shortbread, peanuts,Own_My_Own wrote: »Why does it always pour with rain when I'm walking the dog, then stop minutes after I get home. Yet again this morning I got court in a downpour.Have had to change my clothes to go to work. It didn't help that I thought I would take a shortcut back only to discover my brolly was too wide for the alley walls.
Off to work now. The day has just got to get better.
OMO its sods law isnt it? i am so fed up of the sound of rain pouring and wind howling here at the moment it just hasnt stopped.#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
No, nothing.
I'm just still feeling pap and doing nothing but moan so don't want to clutter the festivity with it.
Pixie has been up since 2:30, I think she is maybe coming up to needing some slop, I don't think milk it quite cutting it any more.. I got to bed at 2 so I'm shattered today..
Struggling to finish knitting projects still. My arthritis is being beastly so walking and knitting is difficult. This usually results in a lot of 'game time'
Trying to catch up on laundry is proving difficult too.
Christmas is being put away today which will mean tears from Squeak no doubt, she loves the tree.
Back to nursery/school tomorrow... I liked not having school runs to do.
Oh PIGPEN i hope your arthritis goes quickly and you can get back to your knitting etc, i am struggling to keep up with my laundry so i feel for you with the amount you must have to do on a daily basis, oh poor Squeak bless her hope she doesnt find it too upsettingmrsinvisible wrote: »morning, home alone, that's me, today. Feisty, hope it goes well with DH going back to work, pity that it is cash related rather than great health improvement.
OMO, sorry for laughing, but the image I have of your face when the brolly was too big, oops.
JJ lovely to read your posts again, how unethical of a doctors surgery making money from their patients calls.
Freespirit, the daily challenges are inspirational, and that you have met them all is a major achievement, go you!
Nanamia I don't know yet about China in summer, as DS1s contract is due to end in July, he should know by April if it is being renewed, if so, I go, if not,......... they may come home, here, England, wow, MrsI hyperventilates.
They are going to Skype today, and every other day until DGD recovers from her distress at leaving.
Today the post Christmas tidy up continues, bedrooms are on the agenda next, then the dreaded decorations decimation, and a sort out of the present stash, still unhealthily oversized, and needing culled. Also need to make soup and work out a budget till the end of the month, and try yet again to contact my insurers regarding the storm damage.
Im keeping my fingers crossed for you MRSINVISIBLE i know a trip to china is fabulous but i know you would like them nearer home xMorning, the kids are all off to school today. So me and the wee one are having a cup of tea and a biscuit.
I got a job on Friday, working in a tearoom kitchens so lots of baking and making hm lasagne etc. but I can't get a childminder to take all 3 kids :-(
It's working 2-3 days a week 9-5pm. So the wee one would need dropped off 8:30-5:30 pm then the elder 2 would need picked up from school til 5:30. But no one has any spaces. There are no other nurseries, playgroups etc. so am trying. 2 other childminders in the next village.
It would also cost me £45 a day and I would be earning £50! I need to check if I would get some WTC towards it. I have been trying for jobs for so long, and can't believe I might not be able to start.
So I have my Mumpreneur hat on and trying to think what else I can turn my hand to. My fb page is still ticking over, but Jan is always very quiet. I'm gong to get the sewing machine out when dd is napping and see what I can make.
Love seeing your challenges Freespirit, it lifts me up each day to read them x
Nice to see everyone still posting x
Oh flipping eck NIC typical, i hope you get some luck in the next village with childminders, oh that job sounds lovely working in a tearoom, im keeping my fingers crossed that you can work out a way of taking it x
HISMISSUS oh im glad your dad is home now, sending you lots of hugs to cope with it all and hope your dad isnt in too much pain
FEVERTOTELL well done on the weightlosshope all those germs flew out today
PLODDINGALONG at least you are on the list now, you never know they might have a cancellation and you get them sorted a lot quicker than 16 weeks
GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY :rotfl::rotfl:hope you had a good christmas and new year
REEN hello and welcome
RUTHHONEY hope you feel better soon, well done on the win, i have just given up with them, i fill in the survey every day and get £2 every now and then#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
Feeling quite good at the moment-especially considering it's a Monday! Went to Clinton's to get some Christmas cards-3 for £1 for anyone who hasn't spotted the offer on the Grabbit board-then had a swim. Managed 35 minutes, so pleased with that. Came home and ate the last mince pie. Oh, whilst it's in my head, I use mincemeat to make festive flapjack. Found a recipe online and it's really nice. Not too Christmassy that you wouldn't want to eat it throughout the year.
GFK surveys-I do them most days and win quite a lot of £2 vouchers, some £5 vouchers and occasionally I get invited to the week long in depth surveys for £5. It doesn't take me long and I like spending the vouchers on treats for me!
Carole Matthews books-I enjoyed Let's Meet On Platform 8 too. She's got a nice style of writing and I get hooked on the book quickly, which is good.
I'm sure there was something else, but can I remember what is was??? Lol!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
12/12/12 challenge-[STRIKE]Season's Greeting Newton's Law[/STRIKE] Christmas polar bear-finished on time!
Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
BBThree - I hope that you are ok and are managing to get about.
I had a similar problem with my ankle a few years ago and was advised to elevate it but it took about 10 weeks to go down.
I don't know what caused it but I was playing with the Wii Fit & using the balance board for about a month before it happened.
I didn't realise that exercise could be so dangerous! :rotfl:A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

HI All
Thanks for all your good wishes. Foot is still huge and very bruised.
In hindsight, it must have looked hilarious, and as hubby pointed out to me, if it was the other way round I would have laughed at him, and yep I totally would.
I can totally see the funny side of it now, and just gutted no one filmed me, cos we lost out of on £25O from You've been framed there. :rotfl:
Worked from home today, and it's amazing how much more you can do get done just without a ringing telephone and people around you.
I have the hospital in the morning and I am working from home tomorrow afternoon.
If I can then find a way to get to work and walk around on my big elephant foot, then I will be back in work on Wednesday.Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -
Feisty Fidget - Thinking of your hubby. Hope all works out
Ruth_Honey - Gutted you didn't get the OCD pyjamas. I have left mine sealed ready for next xmas eve but may crack before then. I haven't seen them in my B&Ms since, but in case they appear what size are you after?
Freespirit66 and Nanamia - You both know about my sh*t time last year and the two unnecessary ops I had.
I was determined not to go near that hospital this year (or ever preferably), yet due to my all around clumsiness I already have had 1 trip to hospital and then got the scary visit tomorrow. My plan definitely failed!
I also think I should fess up to already having had one accident this xmas - but A&E not needed. Hubby works nights and I stupidly left the keys in the front door. My mobile woke me up at 4am, with him asking me to take the keys out so he could get in.
Because I was tired, (and my general all round Mr Bean nature) I got up and stood on my dressing gown and slipped on the top step and fell down the stairs. I managed to get up and let him in and then went to bed. My leg was burning all night, and the following more I had a bruise the length of my thigh and carpet burns.
Sadly my DS is seems to have inherited my gene too
Nanamia - The words "flylady" fill me with fear. I dont do it because I havent a hope of keeping up with it. However, I do get the shiny sink thing, and I always do that. :T
Pigpen - Hope you are OK. Sorry to hear about the arthritis playing up
nic2075 - If the job is meant to be then the childminder thing will get sorted. If it isnt meant to be, that means theres an even better job round the corner with your name on it. Good Luck xx
JuniorJ - For doctors surgery to use a premium rate number is disgusting. Have you tried asking them if they have an alternative land line.
I have to be honest, at work our customers have to ring in on an 0845 number (nothing to do with me) to speak to us, but this isn't hidden and is clearly shown on our website, terms and conditions etc. However.... if anyone asks me we have an none 0845 number I always admit we do (even though I am not supposed to) and give them a standard 0161 number. I also have customers who ring and ask me to note their number and call them back, and again I do but I am not supposed to. I am not overly religious but I have always believed in "do unto others" or basically "treat others as you would want to be treated"
mrsinvisible - hope you get sorted re storm damage
OMO - I only get a 30 min lunch break too. Its annoying because all it takes is a bit of queue when buying a sandwich or whatever, and your whole lunchbreak is gone.
Reen73 - Awww your sons so cute.
Peppapig - Noooooo Now I want a hot chocolate too, the power of suggestion eh. Will go see if DD is feeling kind.

BBTHREE-I don't even know if they make them in a 20-22, but I'd squeeze into them by Christmas (I will, I will, I will!!!) or a 12-14 for my cousin. I've got two branches of B&M that my mum can check too. And they might get them back in for Christmas 2014.
Agree with you on the 'do unto others' thing. Very nice of you to do what you do with the phone number. Think it's very cheeky of Drs to have a phone number that's premium rate!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

If I see some I will grab them and will post them to you. I am quite lucky I have 3 B&Ms within a couple of miles so will keep my eyes peeled xxAims for 2014

JJ that's awful - the 0844 is a bit of a catch because you think it's charged like an 0845 and it isn't. I really don't understand why doctors were ever allowed to change from landline to 'virtual' numbers and it's even more unfair for people who only use mobiles to call. I think it's going to be outlawed at some point - the Gov keep talking about it but who knows if it will ever happen.:(
Oh wow! I didn't even know they had done that our doctors here is still a normal landline local number... Very wrong that they have been able to do that!
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0
