Ooh I'm going to have to go to Nottingham and get my Whittard fix! I think they closed the one in Derby
Sorry I kind of flit back and forth on here and don't get much chance to read back but I will tonight
Christmas Smooth Radio was what kept me going at work last year - we got a radio in the kitchen for working hard but I think my boss regretted it when we started belting out tunes during bingo! We used to switch between that, our Disney album and a Simpsons CD - Sundays will never be the same now
Got paid yesterday so Christmas Shopping will be in full swing now! Looking on eBay for some signed West Bromwich Albion stuff but how do you know if things are legitimate? There's a gorgeous pin badge on there for about £9 inc postage but not sure whether to get it. OH is getting cake, fudge, socks and boxers so far
I'll post a pic later of what I did with my Christmas cake disaster (I forgot to put eggs in it) - basically the inside of the cake was perfect, probably the best cake I'd ever made, but it lacked the bind that eggs provide. So mum and I rolled them into balls and made Christmas Pudding cakes!
Could you send something to the FC to get signed? Or contact a players agent to get a signed pic?
Well done for rescuing the christmas cake. Sounds yummy to me.
JJ-I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Hope to see you soon.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

JJ Hope that everything goes as planned today!
Roll on the weekend as I'm planning to pay a visit to the new B&M store in the next town that opens on Friday.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Hello all! De-lurking, have been reading and was in no it last year. Doing pretty well. Had LO in Jan and she's all sorted and wrapped even! No idea what to get DH though! All nearly done but my rentals. Also, first year for me doing Christmas day so need some luck!
Freespirit I had slight PND mid this year too. Good on her for owning up, that felt the biggest step for me, it's just so overwhelming and nobody preps you for any of it no matter how they try!Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140 -
Hi all,
I'm not even going to try to catch up on the 20 pages I've missed especially with the pace you lot talk on here. I'd still be catching up on Christmas eve
Not too much to report xmas wise. Hubby's made the cake, looks a bit crumbly but once it's iced and there's a ribbon holding it all together, it should be fine.
He's bought me some gifts from B00ts today using various points vouchers. He'd just done one shop when the cashier told him there was a xmas events on today where you get £12 points for a £50 spend so he did another shop. All my pressies bought and I've got £14.50 to spend on him on my card, bonus!
Best friend has decided we should make home made gifts for each other this year as money is short for her. Which is fair enough but she's a far better crafter than I am. I'm going to do a home made food hamper (chutneys, biscuits, flavoured vodka) but it will probably end up costing me as much in ingredients and practice attempts as going out and buying the ready made products0 -
mcculloch29 - last Christmas I saw brushed cotton bed linen set in Primark, didn't buy it, went back couldn't get it, regretted not getting it so much. So this year when I spotted it in Sept I bought it!! Can't wait to get it out!! Yes it only gets use for a few weeks a year, but in my books definitely worth it
. Next year I'll probably start using it come September! haha!
I was going to reply to you mcculloch29 saying the same as what pixtotts has said, recommending the Primark bed sets as an option for more prolonged use.
But unlike pixtotts as soon as I got them home (I brought 3 singles, 1 each for my lil'elves beds) I washed them & put them on their beds because I couldn't wait!
They don't scream 'Christmas', just an all over grey fair isle design suitable for all the winter months & as they're flannelette, they keep them warmer too.
Ours (similar in a red fair isle design, brought from Ebay) will be going on this weekend & will remain there until the end of Jan.... will be washed a few times in between of course!! :rotfl:
The only bad thing I can say about the Primark bedding is that one of the pillowcases was sewn wonky but DS doesn't seem to have noticed! I didn't bother to return because it wasn't worth a special trip just for that (hr drive away)
Have had a miserable start to the week, problems at DDs school & then yesterday DS fractured his foot playing football during PE so had to spend the day at A&E. He has a cast up to his knee but he's fine & we go back next week to see what the next step (no pun intended! :rotfl: ) is.
Am trying to turn the week around now though with all things Christmas today thoughts, TV & planning!
Have any of you lovelies come across plastic christmas scene snowglobes in this style?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Childrens-Trousselier-little-Globe-Rainbow/dp/B00KCMNPPI/ref=sr_1_58?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1415800778&sr=1-58&keywords=snow+globe
I'd like to pop one each in DDs stockings so don't want to spend more than £3/4 & really would prefer the old fashioned plastic type to the heavier ones but cannot seem to find one on the net.
Was just wondering if anyone had come across any in shops on your travels?
Have spent most of the morning finalising the wish list on Amazon so when we get paid can get the majority of the final big things ticked off & then only little bits left to shop for.
Need to get DDs letters to Father Christmas posted off this week too0 -
I've had plastic snow globes from Boots recently. They have a space to pop your own photo in.

I had some gorgeous festive bedding from Ponden Mill (website gives store locations but no online shop). Again, it's more a fairisle design, so can be used from now until jan/February. It's brushed cotton, so lovely and warm too. Mine is red and white.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Mrs Guy Martin,Find another jeweller. My good friend is a working jeweller and has her own small shop.Generally speaking it is very cost effective to have a ring made.Metals are not weakened by melting and remaking,When a jeweller makes a ring they do just that!See if there are any small independent jewellry shops near you and see what they have to say.Vx:0

There's a whittards at McArthur Glenn in Mansfield. Its only 20 mins away from me, which is very dangerous seeing as there is also a cadburys shop, a rather large body shop, and next clearance store!
Sorry I haven't had time to catch up properly, my 3 part time jobs seem to be taking over my life - its been a long while since I was last out the house 5-6 hours, 6 days a week, and I cannot believe how tired I am!!!
I have fallen way behind with all my Christmas prep, tons of wrapping still to do, cards to write, elfcapades to sort out - all things I usually have done before my birthday at the end of November. I also discovered I had completely forgot about Christmas eve - I haven't done the kids hamper. So need to try and get into town to get PJs etc. But as dh is now working away again until 18th Dec, I'm not sure how I will get there without dd's in tow :-(
Dh said I'm having my usual pre-christmas meltdown early this year! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0
