I was hoping it would be a good idea something a bit different and more useful then the endless boxes of chocs/flowers ect. Do you think it would be better to send in at the begining of the last wk rather then last day? Considering Ds has 3 daily ta's aswell as his teacher and several others who are help out weekly it will prob work out a bit cheaper too.

Mandco, I'm doing this too this year and I plan putting it in on the Monday so they can enjoy it through the last week. I got a hamper kit from home bargains to make it look nicer. Have baby stollen, chocolates, hot choc, herbal tea, coffee tea etc in. Going to put to everyone in the staff room on it? Oh I put mints in it too! As someone suggested after a coffee etc they might like a mint

. And Leeds is just Leeds I will always love Leeds, I went for a bit of a drive around Leeds before leaving for home, got a bit emotional, it's amazing how much a place that was home can change so much in just a couple years. I've come home Leedssick. Like home sick, but Leeds isn't home any more. :(

I totally understand, I also love Leeds. We were there earlier in the week and I took some time to have a reminiscent drive around. I'm going to make more of an effort to make the most of what Leeds has to offer, especially as it's only about half an hour away:o

Just put of curiosity, has anyone ever used Ancestry Uk? I signed up for the free trial, but getting no where. I'm in Scotland and a lot of the marriage rolls etc are listed in England and Wales. Is there a trick to using it better? I've searched both sides of my family and only found one listing in a phone book. Nothing that can take me further back then my grand parents. X

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a love for a city! or that goes on reminiscent drives! Leeds is even more amazing now than when I was there. Sadly I'm about 3 hour drive away from Leeds, but now I've reconnected with some old friends I'm hoping I can find excuses to visit more often :D

I'm actually really torn right now, part of me really wants to move back to Leeds. I'm 25, I have no responsibilities, no commitments, I live with my mum and dad, I'm self employed, I have nothing that says I need to stay here, there will never be a better time in my life to move. But then I don't know all that many people up there any more, I am self employed so I'd need to find conventional job, and I still want to go back to uni one day, and that day would be a lot further away if I move out, plus I have my awesome bookcase here!! haha.

I'm quite an impulsive person, part of me wants to throw caution to the wind and do it, but then I don't know. I have this niggling thought at the back of my mind, if I don't do it now I never will, my mum and dad have always talked of moving to Devon, when I finished school, then when my sister finished, but then 2 grandparents died, dad got made redundant, the remaining grandad had a stroke, grandma has pretty much everything wrong with her, and now mum does nearly everything for her, (too much in my opinion), gran wont move from her house, so now mum and dad can't move to the sea, even though it would be the best thing for them to do! Dad was a boat builder who lives nowhere near anywhere making boats.

Though I have no worries over the same happening to me, I've always told my parents they have get my sister to look after them or get someone in, or they are going in a home because I'm not doing it... It's best to have it set out now then they won't be surprised when it happens lol.

None of that was remotely Christmas related sorry, it's one of those things I've spent a week thinking about, this time last sunday I was thinking I don't want to leave, I want this to be home.

freespirit66 - yes RNLI is definitely a very popular one, special one for us as we have a boat, touch wood we've never needed their help, but it's nice to know they are there if ever we did, the sea is a big scary place lol.
My friend is feeling much better thanks, she's been to the police and it sounds like it's going to court, so sounds like they found the guy who just drove off, he was driving out of a petrol station at the time so I guess CCTV made it pretty simple.

pinknfluffy28 I saw online about the Monty's crazy isn't it!

Yeah, I'm in N.Ireland apparently my family doesn't exist :rotfl: I've found that with quite a few family trees places now, One side of the family I can trace back to Scotland then that's as far as I can go, the other side I can't find anywhere:eek: So either they all married ghosts or I'm just not meant to find out about my family tree:(

I don't have the time nor the money to sit and go through them all now, so I've given up :( Which I'm gutted about, but they really don't make it easy TBH

They didn't decide on a spelling change did they?
My grans side of the family is near impossible to chase after her dad, he was an orphan in London from Scotland, who decided to change the spelling of his surname because he didn't like it! Seriously :|. Then the other side of the family is confusing because grandads mum married into a family with the same name as her maiden name... My surname is local to a certain village in Shropshire though so that basically means that's as far as I can get, it's like being a smith if all smiths lived in one village... Aaah! I make us sound inbred lol!

Hi all sorry not been on for a while. Back is playing up again. After trying to stick it out hoping that it was just a flare up from a car accident about 9 weeks ago I finally went to see the consultant and he has ordered an MRI scan to check out what is going on.
Sorry not had chance to read back yet but looking forward to catching up x
Does anybody remember tesco doing a 3 for the price of 1 on selection boxes last year? Im sure They had done it by this date last year. Have I missed it or am I imagining it?

Hope everybody is ok and hugs to everybody who needs them. Going to watch polar express this afternoon with my little princess. Just going to nip upstairs and get my family christmas cards out to write and then I can make a list of the ones I have not bought yet.

Loving that its beginning to feel alot like christmas. Was in a shop yesterday and they had christmas songs playing, a lady in front of me in the queue said I wish they would wait until nearer christmas to play these songs dont you agree? And I laughed and said I love christmas and think shops should play christmas songs all year lol x

    Same here.

I'm going to make more of an effort this year I think try to dress up the fireplace /windows.

I've just ordered a red led tinsel garland [battery operated] and a few other bits from Studio . There's a free soft toy [via their facebook] .
