FieryAngel wrote: »Hello everyone
I posted this in a different thread earlier and Peppapig kindly suggested all you Christmas nuts might have a better understanding in here so I hope you don't mind me re-posting it in here:
As much as I love Christmas and had planned to do loads of home made items to put into hampers such as food things and lotions and lip gel etc (been spending far too much time on Pinterest!), I unfortunately have come to the realisation that I might not be able to do what I wanted this year
I've been ill all year and when I think of how close Christmas is and how much I wanted to do (including lots of things that could only be done very close to Christmas) I don't think I'll have the energy to do them. I'm so gutted about this as I enjoy being crafty and creative (and MSE of course!) but I also can't face digging myself into a deeper hole. It's taken me a long time to realise I can't do what I once did, at least not yet, and I've still not really accepted it yet! haha but I will still eagerly read all of your posts and look forward to seeing pics of your finished articles and hearing about how much everyone loved them. And of course if I'm out and about shopping, I'll let you know of any deals I see.
Sorry to offload that on here - it's not the happy cheerful, Christmassy kind of message but I knew other Christmas/crafty nuts would understand the frustration of not being able to be in full Christmas mode!
Having spent a lot of the day today lurking on the Christmas threads, I think it'll be nice to maybe help people out with pricing and sourcing etc, and possibly give suggestions, where asked for (and when I can think of something) and it'll be nice, even if I'm not able to go all out myself this year
x
Welcome to the gang! Don't feel bad about what you can't do, try to focus on what you can. Have shop bought pressies picked out for everyone, then just slowly start the handmade alternatives. If you don't manage everyone, then at least you have a back up present. I personally think that most handmade items are not cheaper than bought; by the time you factor in materials, equipment and time, they generally are a lot more costly.IrishRose12 wrote: »No more Christmas prep for me for a day or soJust had to book to go to the dentist tomorrow_pale_ Haven't been to the dentist in years, can't stand them at all, but I chipped a tooth this morning and have no other option.
A) I can't stand the dentists,I can't afford a dentist trip ATM and
C) I had planned to go into town and do some Christmas shopping tomorrow!
Really gutted, and annoyed with myself.
Don't be annoyed with yourself, it's not something that can be helped. If you have an NHS dentist, you may get away with just paying a band two payment of £50.50 this covers if you need one or even twenty fillings, extractions, X-rays, scalings, root treatments etc. don't let them rip you off with private extras. All NHS dentists have to provide you with treatment to stabilise and maintain your oral health! If they tell you you need a crown (£219 for however many you need) make sure you get all other treatment completed in the same course, don't let them tell you they will review it in two months, or you'll have to pay again. If you can't stretch to the £219 payment, you can ask them to temporarily fill it until you can afford the crown, but you will probably have to pay £50.50 and £219. If you need any further advice, please let me know[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Evening all, hope everyone is well?
FREESPIRIT - I thought you had mentioned something about a recipe for cookies in a Jar, must have gotten mixed up, apologies!
FEISTYFIDGET - I was just going to say that using the rum sounds delicious but I see you've gone with it. It'll be gorgeous I'm sure! One thing I always do when I make my christmas cakes is to puree about a quarter of the alcohol soaked fruit when I make the cake, it ends up super moist!
I've spent this evening feeding my Christmas cakes with brandy. I've made 17 cakes, two large ones and 15 mini ones that I will add to people's hampers and give as presents.
Have been loving looking at all the Christmas decorations in the shops over the last few days, think I need to restrain myself though! (at least until after Christmas when there will be money off and I can buy some for next year maybe!)
Spent a lovely evening yesterday carving pumpkins with some friends, I'm not putting any out at ours this year as I'll be out on Halloween and OH won't answer the door as he would rather eat all the sweets! I don't think we'll get anybody knocking anyway as it's awkward to get to in the first place!I'm usually using a phone, so excuse my spelling please!0 -

OMG you don't know how much better you've just made me feel about tomorrow! I'll need a filling I think on the one I chipped (hopefully, and I've another tooth that would need re-filled, I just kept putting it off as I don't like the dentist, and it isn't bothering me.
I thought it would have cost a lot more than £50.50 TBH to get a tooth filled.
Thanks so much for putting my mind at ease a bit. Hi all
Just a quick one tonight
Feisty Fidget. I would love the book if no-one else asks.:o It would be nice if everyone who reads it puts a comment in the front too.:)
FieryAngel. You are in the right place for virtual hugs/ support and ideas to help you.:grouphug:
I have bought two bottles of Prosecco and a bottle of port tonight for the stash- both reduced in Asda:D. They are part of my Christmas staples so happy with that.:j
I’m so excited to buy a new angel tree topper. The one I have is 28 years old and was second hand when I got it. She was looking rather tired the last time she was out. I want a gold or red one.
Any ideas??????
Night all. xxxxStart by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say

nitnurse Ill keep an eye out for some, if I see any Ill give you a shout x
Have a great day lovelies xx0 -
Irishrose, so glad I could help
the majority of dentists are lovely, just have a quick word with reception about bow nervous you are and they can advise the nurse who will make sure you are well looked after. Good luck x
Nit nurse I literally only have a few pages left (told you it was a good read) if you PM me your address I can get it sent on. The message in the front sounds great, but I can't make myself write in books, it was one of the strictest things my mother insisted on when I was younger lol x

Not to put a spanner in your glee about the Proscecco, but did Watchdog not have a section last week about the bottles from Asda exploding? Hopefully you will be fine, but it may be worth putting them someplace safe?A smile costs little but creates much0
