Trying to decide whether to stay up until midnight to order the no 7 advent calendar. I desperately want it for ahem cough cough a friend cough cough. But typically after not going to bed until gone 1 most nights this week I am knackered today
.
I brought a wonderful table table runner today from Trago mills, think I am going to need to buy a new dinner service to match and may be decorate the dining room again lol.'we don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing'0 -
I'm not usually this excited about Christmas, but I think knowing I'll have 30 children (with DD at the top of the list) getting excited is making me happy!
I'm assuming you work in a classroom and this is the first year??? Or am I wrong:o
Either way it wears off soon enough trust me:rotfl:I have no need for this BUT if there's one there it "may" fall into my basket.
Just please DON'T tell where this is from please, cause it may fall into my basket and I really cannot afford any extra spends:eek::oPay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

Hi all newbies, lurkers and returners:santa2:
Hugs and healing thioughts to those who need them:grouphug:
I was unable to get on here at the weekend:mad: but have now caught up:D
Mrs Christmas. I thought you meant everyone on the thread starting a tradition together. Now that WOULD be a challenge:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Pixtotts. Try adding cinnamon/ nutmeg or allspice to a regular biscuit dough
Feisty Fidget. I have used sherry, Bacardi, rum, whiskey, brandy and port in varying mixtures/ amounts and all of them are fine. I have never used coconut rum but it may give your cake a Caribbean feel. You could maybe substitute some raisins or sultanas for apricots or dates to make it a bit different. As long as your fruit/ dry ingredients and wet ingredients come to the same totals as in the recipe you can pretty much swap what you like……I have read further and see you have gone for rum:beer:…..Delish:D:D
On the pressie front, I have been struggling to find a gift for my son and his partner but I’ve now got the perfect thing for them.:j:j:j
It is most certainly not MSE but they are expecting my first grandchild in Aprilso I am booking a 4D scan, complete with photos and a DVD.:D:D:D:snow_grin
You can have up to 5 "guests" at the scan so that will be my son, me and hubby and the “inlaws”. I’m just going to buy the voucher then we can all plan the date after Christmas.
It feels a bit mad to spend so much but they are worth every penny- and I have been stashing money for months so what better way to spend it than on a lovely couple.
Wish you all successful shopping and planning
See you soon
:santa2:Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say

Chrissy that advent calendar is amazing
Also the alternative style snowman soup will be one I note for a later date as this would be perfect for my OH, brother and/or brothers GF.
OH is off to bed early so I am going to get some card writing done, possibly completedthe pictures which me and cousins had a couple of weeks ago have arrived, along with the photo CD which we are able to print from. They are lovely and I can't wait for my grandma & grandad to open it on Boxing Day with us all around :j
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Thanks Freespirit Its definitely going to be special - or at least I hope. Her dad died on christmas day 4 years ago so she struggles with christmas so Im hoping I can at least put the spark back for her shes already said shes excited to wake up and open presents so thats a good signMrsChristmas wrote: »I think it'd be nice to start a new tradition together.
*Baking/gingerbread house making Christmas Eve
*Attending midnight mass/Carol service/local panto
*New PJs Christmas Eve
*A new, or new to you, ornament that has meaning to you both for the tree/house
*A walk in the park Christmas morning
*A Special breakfast in bed
I'm sure others can think of some better frugal ones! One tradition I'm hoping to change this year is leaving all the wrapping until Christmas Eve!:rotfl:
Thats a lovely idea! We are in Rome first week of December so tree will have to be put up when we get back (and amazingly she does have one!) Ive already warned her we will be taking a trip to town for new decorations although just cheap ones as we have kittens - I dread to think what the tree will end up like! (they are a handful)
I was thinking of putting together a surprise xmas eve hamper - Im working xmas eve unfortunately (had to use up my xmas holiday as emergency when I suffered bad depression last month and had to go home) so Im thinking a voucher for a takeaway of her choice, pjs and Elf dvd (we watched this together online over skype last year so special) and the idea of a walk on christmas was exactly what I wanted to do just to convince her lol!
I bought a few things in boots tonight on the way home on 3 for 2 now just to wrap and hide before she gets home next week lol!
Im really looking a good deal on hugo boss I know at the start of the year it was £30 offers in boots for the set but its double at the minute so if anyone heres of a bargain will you let me know please! :A
Right hope you are all well, away to catch up on the last few pages Ive missedLife is what you make it.0 -
That advent calender is lovely and I don't think that's a bad price for it, either. I was expecting closer to £50! But I do already have a felt one which I buy chocs for AND a mini tree with drawers in the stand which have tiny decorations in, so I hang up one a day on the tree.
Had a hedgehog in the garden earlier. Blossom was a bit too interested in it, so have locked the cat flap to keep her indoors until he's wandered off. :-)Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
