  • Hello everyone

I posted this in a different thread earlier and Peppapig kindly suggested all you Christmas nuts might have a better understanding in here so I hope you don't mind me re-posting it in here:

As much as I love Christmas and had planned to do loads of home made items to put into hampers such as food things and lotions and lip gel etc (been spending far too much time on Pinterest!), I unfortunately have come to the realisation that I might not be able to do what I wanted this year

I've been ill all year and when I think of how close Christmas is and how much I wanted to do (including lots of things that could only be done very close to Christmas) I don't think I'll have the energy to do them. I'm so gutted about this as I enjoy being crafty and creative (and MSE of course!) but I also can't face digging myself into a deeper hole. It's taken me a long time to realise I can't do what I once did, at least not yet, and I've still not really accepted it yet! haha but I will still eagerly read all of your posts and look forward to seeing pics of your finished articles and hearing about how much everyone loved them. And of course if I'm out and about shopping, I'll let you know of any deals I see.

Sorry to offload that on here - it's not the happy cheerful, Christmassy kind of message but I knew other Christmas/crafty nuts would understand the frustration of not being able to be in full Christmas mode!

Having spent a lot of the day today lurking on the Christmas threads, I think it'll be nice to maybe help people out with pricing and sourcing etc, and possibly give suggestions, where asked for (and when I can think of something) and it'll be nice, even if I'm not able to go all out myself this year :)

Glad you've posted here Fiery Angel, the lovelies on here are so supportive.

I won't comment on the post again cos you know what I've already said but I should add that you've already helped me with my Christmas because I wouldn't be attempting the chocolate peppermint creams if it wasn't for you. I've even ordered some small plastic bags with santas on them ready to put the sweets in before I pop them into jars to give to my nearest and dearest. So thank you :T
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

I love that advent calendar, it's beautiful.

Feisty- we have a hanging stocking advent that we bring out every year. The 'elves' fill the stockings each night for the morning, so it's always a surprise and only ever one filled at a time. That way no kiddies peek or munch the treats before the day.

I was considering a lovely traditional calendar too for them to take turns opening. I loved opening picture ones when I was small. I remember being so excited each morning to see what it was. Then the Choclate ones came in. Which was nice, but no really nice pics any more, was looking at this one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alison-Gardiner-Traditional-Advent-Calendar/dp/B008SUT686/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414597620&sr=8-1&keywords=traditional+advent+calendar

Thanks again Peppapig - you'll have to let me know when you try those chocolates! Ooh I've been thinking about getting some small plastic bags - where did you get them and what kind of size are they? I'm thinking of quite small ones - though I have just ordered some small striped bags :)

Hugs Fieryangel, sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather. I'm sure we all want to do more that we are able. I always disappoint myself. If you can try and complete a couple of items for each person. And if you find the time and its not adding stress, then add something else. Make it into smaller doable chunks rather than looking at the end picture.
I take it you have edibles to make nearer the time? Can any of them be frozen and be made earlier? If they are left to last, those can be the things you can attempt if feeling Christmassy and you have sometime to bake/prepare.

I'm sure your family and friends will understand you have been ill and love whatever you give them. X

That's how we do it too, just add one day at a time & it's always overnight as the Elf visits whilst ds sleeps.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

No more Christmas prep for me for a day or so :( Just had to book to go to the dentist tomorrow_pale_ Haven't been to the dentist in years, can't stand them at all, but I chipped a tooth this morning and have no other option.
    A) I can't stand the dentists,
    B) I can't afford a dentist trip ATM and
    C) I had planned to go into town and do some Christmas shopping tomorrow!

Really gutted, and annoyed with myself.
