Ticked the two kiddos main presents off the list today, getting a reduction code on the old iPad minis. Shuddering at the technology but their friends have them so they are both talking about them and adding them to "the list"

That's the two biggest things anyway I guess!

Will need a stiff drink tonight lol.

Evening, just caught up. We were away to Butlins Skegness for the week, we had such a good time. The kids are perfect ages for it and had us doing every activity and every show going. I loved it :D

A few pages back there was talk about kids still believing and worrying about talking about their elves at school. My eldest dd is 9 and DS is 7 and dd2 is 3. Dd still believes and I know that even if someone said otherwise, she is so into it all, she would never believe them, same with DS. I guess it rubs off from me. Santa is real so what's not to believe right? :D:santa2:

Regarding the elves, when we first got them a few years ago. I told the kids they shouldn't mention them at school as not everyone was lucky enough to get a visit, and they wouldn't want to upset anyone who didn't have one. This seems to have worked, and if anyone else says they has an elf, they go mad and start telling them about theirs too.

Hugs alislotte, sorry to hear about your split. It's a horrible thing to go through, but in a few weeks it will start to feel a bit better and you can look forward to the future x

Well done Pinknfluffy on your job x

Our Christmas film is Elf. They love Nativity, Jingle all the way, The Polar Express and my personal fave, Santa clause the Movie.

I went and did some more shopping today just got bits and pieces...I went in to B&M and got some Frozen Cups for my nieces at £2.99...they are the plastic ones with a lid and solid straw? Also, I'm not sure if anyone is doing an American sweets hamper but they had loads of American sweets in the (reeses, MnMs in the cardboard boxes, babe Ruth bars etc)

It's such a good feeling knowing I will have my shopping finished in the next couple of weeks!then I can truly enjoy the Christmas spirit :xmastree::xmastree:

Almost done here ,I've bought the cracker kits and I've got a few bits coming from "Yaziland" on Amazon just scratch cards to get and they are done.

My work are opening another branch closer to my home I currently drive 8 miles each way 3 times a week ,the new placement would be 2 miles each way and my hours condensed into 2 days so it would be a massive saving on fuel over the year. Just got to wait and see if they let me transfer.

My nephew and I are pretty close. I know I'm his favourite uncle

He has started to spend a lot of time on his Playstation. He was really active until 6 months ago but gaming is slowly taking over.

Any ideas on what I could get him for Christmas apart from the latest PS game?

I have been looking at some kites online. I was thinking of taking him away for the day for a catch up. I used love flying kites as a kid so hoping to get him into it too.

I just hope there isn't a snow storm in January.

My nephew is 13, I for many years I have tried to give him experiences as presents ie day trips.

Prehaps you could get tickets and take him to:
1)gig of his favourite band if he's into music
    2) watch the team he supports play
    3) the theatre
Or arrange a day where you participate in a new or favourite activity:
    1) visiting an indoor ski slope
    2) rock climbing, loads of centres around the country
    3) go carting
    4) bird of prey handling session - friend took her similar aged ds they other week and it's all he has spoken about since - before booking check what the session is like, seem to be vast differences ranging from 1 to 4+ hours, large groups to only a handful, to how many birds are you able to interact with.

A 12/13 year old I know loves going out for afternoon tea as it is so grown up, unfortunately my nephew doesn't like cake  so I am unable to indulge in spending an hour or two sharing good food and chatting with him.

I think you must be a fantastic uncle to want to engage with your nephew and not go down the easy route of buying a computer game.

I must say my own DS (13) would not be impressed with a kite. I think that would be more suited to under 10s. After your day out the kite is likely to be consigned to the back of a cupboard to gather dust.

The suggestions mentioned by Baileys Babe would be more suited to a 12 year old than a kite.

My DS does enjoy activity days too. He's been on a helicopter ride, driven a hover craft, driven a car, gone go-kart racing, done paintball, done lazer quest, ridden quad bikes, ridden a segway, etc. Most of this was through using Groupon vouchers.

I've also taken him to many concerts at the O2, we've seen a good few plays at the theatre (we're going to see CATS in December), and I've taken him to the V Festival.

Perhaps you could browse Groupon Ed-P and find an activity day you and your nephew could do together?
