Oh forgot to say, last year one of my friends sons (10 yo) stayed over during advent & in the morning he received a special Elf gift along with ds (a candy sleigh) and even though he knew it wasn't real was thrilled & played along for ds benefit. Older kids just like to show off newly acquired knowledge but I doubt at ages 8-9 they would be totally nasty to your ds if he was talking about the elf as they still remember believing in it themselves.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

none of my kids have ever said they dont believe to me apart from once.
at the age of 20 eldest DD put her arm around me and said you do know dont you. i just sort of looked at her in shock and then smiled. her reply was thank £$%! for that we honestly thought dad had a heck of a lot to do as you are so into santa its untrue so we thought it must be real or its all him. They recon theyve never seen as much as a roll of satna paper in my shopping trolley or the house and they were never able to stay awake long enough to catch anyone delivering presents. they tried trust me one of the kids tied a thread around their empty stocking and attached it to their ankle hoping that whoever moved the stocking at filling time would wake them. santa very nearly got caught out that night!!!!
ive always said i believe as long as you believe he will visit.
thats stopped a few children getting upset at the school i work at. I do add talk to your parents tonight so that anything that needs or wants to be broached by them can be.

see you all later busy day today

    Morning All :)
The weather is cold and damp again here. Ordered OH's slippers for Christmas from M&S which are like the one's he has already, they have just worn out so he is ready for another pair, pick them up tomorrow after work. I have also ordered my slippers I wanted for Christmas from there too, he did say I can have them now as I always borrow his :p but I didn't know what else I would like for Christmas so I will wait.
I am having to resist massively to not wrap presents :rotfl: I do need to have a sort through all the gift wrap and bags I have so I know what we've got and if there is anything missing.
    Have a good day :)

  • Afternoon

I've just raided all the pound shops for stocking fillers etc. Got my candy canes for the sleigh and various chocolate bars to go on them and lovely hessian sacks. I also went to Lidl, never been before, and got some chocolate for my chocolate spoons and the chocolate money (which includes notes). The money was 99p, I had seen the exact same one in Tesco for about £3 so happy I held out.

I have got a new job which starts in 2 weeks so I think that's a good enough excuse to start wrapping and writing cards!

Hi ladies. I need a little advice. We have had an elf here for the last 2 years and the kiddies have loved it. They have been asking recently whether 'Jingles' will be back again this year.
My dilema is this. DS is 7 but has been placed in a mixed class in school this year. He is year 3 and one of the younger ones with a birthday in May but half of the class are year 4 and some of them have turned 9 in September/October. I'm worried that if he goes into school excited about what the elf has gotten up to the older ones may pick on him for believing in it all. I know I may be worrying over nothing but it has really been playing on my mind.
DD is 4 and so she would miss out if we don't have the elf to stay but I've been arguing with myself for a while now and thought it would be best to ask all the Christmas lovelies on here what they thought.
    Congrats Pinknfluffy. :D
    Hugs Aliaslotte. :grouphug:

HANLEY aww what a predicament, im sorry i cant offer any advice i cant even remember what age my kids realised :D but it would be such a shame DD will miss out too, and as he is still excited, 7 is still a young age, but i do know how these things worry us mums and other kids today seem to be older than their years and quite cruel, i hope some of our lovelies can help you x

NAJIPANTS congrats on the new job :D

  • Hanley - dd2 has just turned 7, she's the oldest in her yr 2 class and tends to play more with yr 3 & 4 girls. A few weeks back she announced over dinner that she knew the tooth fairy wasn't real. We were gutted, but we didn't lie, I told her that there isn't just one tooth fairy, but millions of mums & dads who do the job, and so we are all tooth fairies.

We predict this will be her last year believing in Santa (if we get that far) and although I will be sad, again, we will not lie, and I will tell her similar, that a long time ago there was a Santa, and that he gave so much joy and happiness, that even today millions of parents become Santa's, to keep the magic alive.

She still puts her teeth under her pillow, and asks if my tooth fairy magic is around that night!

If she believes or not, the elves will still come to us every year, dd1 is 14 and gets silly with excitement at their arrival so I'm sure dd2 will too!

I hate the idea of them growing up, but I am determined that even when she doesn't believe, the magic will still be there!

I have also explained to dd2 about why it is unkind to tell friends that still believe in the tooth fairy the truth, that it is up to them to find their own truth in their own time ... I just wish all parents would do the same. Children grow up too fast as it is, without having the magic taken away from them by friends :(

Hanley, I really feel for you. At some point older children will assure younger children that there's no such thing as Santa or Christmas Elves. I've always told mine the same - 'some people believe and some people don't but do you really want to take the chance?' so I'm definitely with Quidsy and MrsM on this one. Mine are 32 and 31 now and have still never said there's no such things as Santa (actually come to think of it neither have I lol). I don't suppose you'll be the only one with this dilemma over the coming months but good luck whatever you do. :)

Najipants, congratulations on the new job. :T

MrsG - addictive is the right word, I haven't even got any littlies at home but can't resist checking in every evening and re-reading lots of posts to make sure I haven't missed anything. That's without all the little side trips to view the links people post! :rotfl:

Had a fabulous afternoon with my sister. Poundland, Home Bargains, Wilks, Card Factory, The Works and B&M. Woo hoo!!!! Must dash now, need to check in on the FB elf thread and Pinterest. :D
