  • Amyturtle - I thank you very much for the Lush info - however, my bank card and Dh do not thank you ha ha x

Dd1's 14th bday today. Bless, she really didnt have much to open (2 cheap xbox games, a pair of gloves, and a lip balm!). Everyone has given her money this year, and we have paid for the concert she is going to next week. But shes another one that loves surprises, and I could see she would much rather have had little bits to open than money.

I did tell her its a sign that she is no longer a child, and promised to have a girly shopping spree at the weekend.

I am really glad now that I decided against vouchers and money for xmas. Some of the gifts Ive got her are very random, but at least she will have stuff to open!

Dd2 turns 7 next week, so its a very busy start to the month for us.

I have started getting bits together for pots of gold, and chocolate sleighs. Im going to do the chocolate sleighs as table name setting thingies this year.

Things are stupidly quiet with work at the moment. The bad side to being self employed, sat around with very little money coming in! Hopeful it will pick up again as we get closer to Xmas though.

Freespirit - Sorry i wasnt on yesterday, so Happy belated Birthday xx

Concert tickets are expensive but they don't seem a lot present wise do they. I bought tickets to take my oldest to see the Vamps in two weeks. I have told her that it's a part of her christmas present. Going to take my headphones as a load of screaming teenagers and going mad over five young boys is my Idea of a nightmare. The things we do for our kids :rotfl:

    JJ sending hugs your way!!
ameyturtle thanks for the lush product updates. There is only really my SIL who use's them in our family and I have already sorted her gift - note to self I must wait next year and do a lush hamper for her!
mrsm I hope things went well yesterday with MIL & hosp!
freespirit glad you had a good birthday, but I do hope your migraine has passed now!
mrsi I know!! I can't believe we are in October, and now the weather has begun to turn, I actually have gotten my scarf out!
AAAB oo I am waiting for Amazon black friday too - the only problem is I can't remember what I was wanting :o

Well today we had no holiday cottages to clean and the office work was mostly done yesterday, however, we have found much more work so it is ending up a busy day - and there was me hoping to catch up on my housework and ironing! Hopefully I should be done by 4ish, fingers crossed.
Well I have made the fatal mistake, which I think I read someone else has done in previous years, that I put the drawer and wardrobe fragrance gifts in the individual bags for mums and grandma's, which also had some shortbread in, and now it all smells of it :eek: luckily I got them as bargins at £1 each so it's £4 not lots and lots of money but still a great pain! Will have to buy some more now, as I don't dare risk incase the smell has affected the taste..grumblegrumble!
On a brighter note I have remembered that as I am hosting a Jamie party next week I will get ''free'' pennies to spend on items. There are a few things I have my eye on, but I might be clever and pick some bits to go away for gifts next year - ooo the moneysaver is coming back out in me ;)
Off for now to finish up in the office!
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Didnt know there was so many types of privet!! Thought I may plant a couple in the garden :D win win situation there as my garden really needs some tlc.

Definatley going to do hampers of sweeties for my kids, I looked at a selection box in CoOp and nearly laughed at the price - £4 for like 4 bars of choc and a pack of jelly tots - yeah thats worth it! Im gonna hunt for the Dr pepper sweets, my boy loved them. :D

    Hello all,

Just to say I am here and reading your posts. Christmas plans have been put on hold here as a very close friend passed away very suddenly last Monday at just 31, and I can't get my head around anything else ATM.

I am enjoying the occasional read through though and will continue to do so until I'm a useful contributor again

Ha ha I know how you feel! It would be my worst nightmare nowadays (although back in my teenage days I was a bit obsessed with take that & saw them in concert 19 times!)

Dd is off to see black veil brides. They kind of scream rather than sing, and fortunately dh did his dad of the year duty & offered to take her & her bf!
