CHRISSYG - I think I might have to have that duvet!! Not sure what my boyfriend will think though haha
Just a quick heads up that quality save home bargains and b&m near me are starting to sneak bits of Xmas onto the shelves starting with the chocolates and little gift sets
Random question but I want to get my boyfriend some American sweets etc I know he likes to go with his presents but don't really want to spend a fortune! Does anybody know where I can get them quite cheaply please? X3forholidays wrote: »
I normally give the kids of the family (my cousins children) some sweets along with their money but as sweets are unhealthy I'm trying to think up a cheap alternative for a maximum of £2.50 each. I have girls of ages 8, 9, 12, 14, 16 and a boy aged 9 to buy for. Has anyone got any suggestions? I'd like to buy the gifts on the high street if possible.the allowence def doesn't cover a full meal  dd meals average around £2.50-£3 so I top up her account with £3/4 a wk but she doesn't eat much and takes a drink with her as drinks are nearly £1 otherwise.our school does cashless catering so I can monitor how much she is spending and top up accordingly

does anyone get the influenza flu vaccine? had a letter for taz today as they are offering a nasal version for 2-4yr olds this yr not sure wether its a good idea to have it done or not as I know quite a few people who had bad experience with the jab last yr.
haven't done much xmas prep this wk but ds preorder game came and included a free tshirt which wasn't advertised so that's going into the xmas stash
looking for marvel avenger themed stuff if anyone sees any good offers thanks

Main meals with a bit of veg work out around £2. Cakes/ flapjacks etc are quite expensive, e.g. 90p for a Bakewell tart. This is because 'healthy' foods are subsidised. Treats 'unhealthy' foods generate a bit of profit to help balance the books. It's a lot cheaper than my husband's work canteen but there is no way I'm spending £2 a day on lunch! I occasionally buy a cookie, and sometimes if we've run out of bread or time, I'll buy lunch. But usually would rather save the pennies. Some of our students buy cooked breakfasts at break, cooked dinners, cake, cans of drink etc every day. Must be spending £25 a week  Anyway definitely cereal bars/ biscuits/ drinks will help keep costs down

Hi all, i'm a little bit behind but just wanted to say hi before catching up. Thank you all so much for your support, you are so kind. I had a bad day on Friday, but have been better since. My mum stayed a bit longer which is nice! She's going home today but DH is working from home this week so I won't be on my own. I'm getting much more confident about being out and about with Wiggle, I went out for the first time on my own with him yesterday to have lunch with some old work colleagues and everything went well which was a relief.
DH and I usually alternate staying at our parents at Christmas time and this year is my parents turn, however my brother is back living at home at the moment so there's no room for us. So I invited them here for Christmas! I've never hosted Christmas before! It does depend on my brother as he works in care, so he has to see if he has Christmas off. He worked it last year so should do. If they come it will be my mum, dad, brother and auntie so we'll have a house full! I have said they will probably have to cook the Christmas dinner but they don't mind as I think my dad quite enjoys it. They will come on the morning of Christmas day and stay the night, which will be nice as it means DH, Wiggle and I will enjoy first thing in the morning as a first Christmas as a family. I have to say in some ways i'm quite excited, I already found out the list of food we made in last years thread and I've started my own. I also want to buy a really nice table set, freespirit I think you bought one recently didn't you? Any recommendations would be great!0 -
Hi all,
Christmas plans are on hold in the Hanley household at the moment as I am trying to sort out the children's halloween costumes. DS (7) wants to be a goblin. After doing a quick search I can't find a costume as such but was thinking maybe a knight costume some plastic green ears and painting his face green? Does that sound ok?
DD (4) wants to be Mona the Vampire. She's a cartoon character, we nicknamed DD Mona when she was a baby as she had her days and nights confused so was awake all night and seemed to cry constantly! I bought her the DVDs last year and she loves them! Anyway, again I can't find a costume but was thinking school skirt, red cardi, white blouse and a vampire cape. Tried to post a pic below but it doesn't seem to be there when I click 'Submit reply'.

So pleased to hear you and wiggle are managing to get out and about. It will do you both the world of good. I used to find walks a great time for bonding, as both of mine were always quiet as mice whenever we put them in a pram or car seat - it gave me time to think, and to appreciate them, without all the other jobs and worries that come with being mum of a new born xx
Oh my, this takes me back! DD1 (now 14) was obsessed with Mona as a pre-schooler, and still has the dvds which she and dd2 often watch on a rainy day. I think your costume ideas sound fab - but have you checked HB? I am pretty sure I saw a goblin or gargoyle costume in there at the weekend x
Well, my Christmas playlist is on, and I am about to sit and do my monthly accounts. I dont know why i always dread doing them, I am very organised with my little business so its only a 10 minute job each month, but I know August & September have been fairly quiet, so Im not expecting much in the way of profit :-(
Started some xmas wrapping last night, just nephews & neice. I am slowly getting our bedroom cleared and more organised, so I plan to wrap pressies before putting them into my little cupboard that dh built for my "stash".
Its still so early though, it feels a bit wrong wrapping already, so Im spreading them out, a few at a time lol
Have a wonderful day everyone xIt's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
