Also going to do a stocking as per tradition - planned items include one of above books, 2 pairs of cartoon sock (£2), sweets, miniature whiskeys (anyone know where the best place to get these is?) and other random stuff...
Just miniatures have their own website I think but they also sell via amazon Shop linky, though that might almost be too much choice!0 -
Hi everyone, been a while since I posted as I just haven't had a chance! Sounds like everyone is doing so well on their Christmas prep, the rate i'm going people will have to wait till March for their pressies!
Unfortunately I got diagnosed with post-natal depression the other day which came as a shock as i'm normally such a happy-go-lucky person. I've never had depression before, this is all new to me but explains why I end up crying every day and feel quite down.I really hope people don't think i'm being insensitive by posting this, I am so aware of how lucky and blessed I am to have a healthy baby and I love him dearly, but since getting home from hospital I've had a horrible black cloud hanging over me that won't budge and don't have any inclination to do anything. I've been referred for counselling so hope that in time it will disappear. Sorry to bring the thread down from all the Christmas cheer but just wanted to share.

Hi everyone
Long term lurker, occasional poster
Just wanted to post in case anyone else is doing an American themed hamper, I got lots of bits in B&M today, Oreo cookies, Reece's peanut butter bits and the best one Peanut Butter M&M's! I've never seen peanut butter M&M's on sale in the UK apart from the really expensive American sweetie shops you see occasionally, accidently bought an extra pack for me!
Hope that helps someone : ))0 -
princesskitty your being not insensitive PND is far more common than people think and being able to talk about it is important.while it may have been a shock to hear getting support/treatment really does help. I had it after I had my eldest traumatic births are a common trigger so understand what your going through it takes time but it does get better.this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0

Anyhoo, here I am, saying Hello! ?
welcome how old are the kids? I pad out the kids pressie pile with lots of cheapy gifts last yr I did a 10 presents for £10 challenge its suprising what you can find it just takes a little time and you'll get lots of tips/bargain finds posted on here. hampers are also a good way of making presents look more special/extravagantthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -

You're not being at all insensitive Princess and sharing your feelings has nothing to do with complaining or being ungrateful for your blessings - you aren't causing the PND, it's happening to you. Big hugs to you and I hope you get the support you need to come through it soon so you can really enjoy your new little one. Please share whenever you think it might help - I'm sure everyone on here will be pulling for you and sending you good vibes.I'd like to have added a more appropriate smilie but they don't seem to be playing ball today!
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -

PS how do i subscribe to this forum so i get email updates?
Try looking for different 'own brand' versions of some of the things they want. For example in Smyths yesterday I noticed they had a game 'Don't touch Buster's bones' - which was around £21 but another game called 'Don't wake the dog' - which basically was the same game but £4.99. They had loads of cheaper versions of the different games. I am sure they will be just as much fun to play. Things like Robofish/Hexbugs - you can get very similar items in Poundworld at the moment too. Speaking of £ shops - I try and pop in them once a week and pick up any bargain toys (my bargains are the things that would be £5+ elsewhere, proper, branded items) and I stick them in my stocking box at work. Hit and miss what they have but have picked up some real gems. For instance they have some Disney Planes bath colour changers in at the moment that are around a fiver in Boots as we speak... HTH0
