newthrift - one year my dad replaced each cracker novelty with a piece of jewellery/watch without telling anyone. The look on mum's face when a silver necklace fell out of her "£4 for 12 crackers in the sale" cracker was priceless. She thought she'd really grabbed a bargain with them until dad confessed much later on in the day.
The year after we all got a piece of paper with a number on and had a gift hidden in a santa sack under the table as he wanted to buy us all a dvd but couldn't find crackers big enough!:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Thank You gettingtherequickly I'm glad you like it. xx
Everyone seems very Chrissmassy on here at the moment. I don't need to get a lot, so am waiting until nearer the time or I'll have nothing to do. xx0 -

I am sure she wouldn't at all. I know she would love to do everything herself but with running her own business and with two children, time is tight. She knows I love to bargain hunt so I will ask her a bit nearer the time - I think they consider me mad to be thinking about Christmas practically all year round, lol.0 -
Newthrift, I am pleased to share with you the sort of things I do for table presents.
Last year the men all got Stackers valet trays in black (I got them in the John Lewis sale). The women got things like Cath Kidston/Emma Bridgewater fold up bags, hand cream, photo frames, diaries and such like. Again, all bargains stashed away throughout the year. I also picked up some Seasalt Christmas jute bags to put them in and usually I make some sort of felt/fabric gift to attach as an extra touch. I do have time on my hands which helps.0 -
hi everyone just trying to catch up with you all. Been poorly sick and confined to bed since monday and finally made it onto sofa today so I suppose that's progress. I think the meds are starting to kick in.
hugs Nana xx

Had to go into Costco after work and fell totally in love with a teddy, he is 55" tall, just a bit shorter than me, and so, so soft and was only £24. Absolute bargain if you had someoneA smile costs little but creates much0

Evening everyone, not a happy bunny, DD1 asked if i could shop online this week because she is a bit fed up of shopping every saturday, so i agreed, tesco delivered last week, fine, no substitutions no problems, decided to try asda this week and ordered a couple of stocking fillers for DD1 and DS, only toiletries that were reduced, was quite excited thinking another couple of things out of the way, and guess what was missing??? Sat on phone for over 10 mins, got fed up so emailed them  plus i got 36 eggs when i only ordered 12 and a box of earl grey teabags, i didnt even order any tea??? This is why i hate online grocery shopping.nitnurse-not2 wrote: »Hi all
I don't usually pop in mid week but I have just been to Asda and noticed tha Yankee candles- large jar- are £13.
They also have YC reed diffusers for £12 each.
Not sure how much of a bargain this is but sure the candles are usually £19.99 each.
Do I buy or not?????????
xx
NITNURSE Yes they are a bargain if they are the large size like you say they are usually £20dropsofjupiter wrote: »I have started the day by eating a frog and finally dealing with the home insurance renewal (only a day late) now feel fab! Off to work whistling I think

I've decided to have another big clear out this weekend. There is still stuff in the house we don't need or use.
I was joking with the kids last night about when they move out I will move into the caravan with Mia. But you know the more I think about it the more I think I may actually do it. There is a site here that let's you stay on it for the whole year. It is opposite a large Tescos and a nature reserve.
Obviously I'm talking about in years to come, and they may never leave. But if they do I will really think about it. I'm not sentimental about any of my stuff. I'd sell it all tomorrow if I had to.
To be honest I'm quite looking forward to it.
Oh OMO you would feel like you were on holiday all year roundlovely to see you getting compliments already on your dog lead hooks

Hi all, apologies in advance for the long post, I haven't been on for a few days so had some catching up to do!
Thanks 3forholidays I know i'll be fine!
Hope you have a lovely week Feisty and wishing you all the luck in the world for your fertility treatment.
freespirit it is so frustrating the bank didn't chase your ex too, they should be dealing with both people on their records. But like you say, it is all over now. I'm nearly one week into my not working and it has been great being able to actually get stuff done, I was always too tired when I got home from work and couldn't keep on top of everything. Thanks for the update on Nanamia, please send her my love and best wishes and I hope she can chase the BD away soon. We sometimes do online shopping with Tesco and it's generally fine, however a friend of mine uses Asda and has had a few problems with them.
CHRISSYG Your poor daughter, I can't imagine how awful it must be for her. I hope they can find what's wrong and help her soon. I was excited to hear you got your Studio catalogue! I have to be patient as I remember last year I got mine waaaay after lots of you on here. I don't always order from them but I think the excitement is a throwback to when I was a child - my mum used to get the Ace catalogue and I used to LOVE looking through it!!!
Gettingtherequickly what great news for your brother, I bet that feels like a massive weight lifted and hopefully you can both sleep better now!
Ruth_honey wow what a fab present from your DH! Hope you're enjoying it. Yes i'm really enjoying Calling Mrs Christmas, it sounds like a good business idea in theory but I would find it way too stressful! As I said I normally save Christmas books to read from October onwards, so it's very strange to be reading about ice and snow when i'm sat in 22 degree heat!
OMO your dog hook is fab! I really love the style. If I had a dog i'd definitely get one!
junior_j woohoo for Scotland! I'm sure your Goddaughters will be thrilled to see you.
whitesatin fingers crossed for your DiL for her pregnancy and that everything goes well this time. Wow you got a good haul of presents!
mandco that is soooo cute - your DS offering to pay for his t-shirt!
Happy belated birthday DropsofJupiter and msgigglewick! _party_0 -
