nanamia - :rotfl:yes I was going to have a few more naughtly shaped things in but we are going to the Grand National at Aintree and thoguth we best behave
ruth_honey - They look good, I keep wanting to learn to crochet, is this easier than knitting? I try at crafts but I'm not the bestmaybe more practice is what I need.
Me and OH went to look at our allotment yesterday, will be getting stuck in with it this Sunday - I might try and pop down before. I didn't do much digging my OH did it as he kept chuckling at me singing the rocky theme tune and digging fast :rotfl:
It's actually my mum and dad's but is HUGE so we have 5 big sections on it (can't remember how big they are now). Thinking if I can get some fruit growing I might make some jams for Christmas
Thank you.Yes, I've been told crochet is much easier than knitting. Can you imagine knitting something that large? You'd need those funny loopy knitting needles, I would guess. And it would be heavy to hold. With the hook, you just work along the edge, plonking the wool on your lap (great to keep warm!). It's quicker too.
Hooks are cheap and you can find odd bits of wool in charity shops if you wanted to have a try. Watching YouTube vids help, but the UK uses different names for stitches than the US, so if you are working from a pattern, you need to watch that. I'm really enjoying it though. Keeping on the Christmas theme, I'm thinking tiny crocheted snowflakes would make lovely decorations.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Evening everyone, mmm st patricks day dinner was a success and gorgeousmrsinvisible wrote: »My bl**dy post has gone!!! I spent 21/2 hours in the garden trying to get rid of some of the gales disaster, filled mine and my neighbours garden waste bin and 3 big containers, and the lovely bin men(xxx) took it all away. Then I came indoors as I had done enough. Now I feel zorsted, sickish and cold and weak. Now DGS wants to go out and dig up a tree stump.!!!
Nanamia, the awards were really good, some really clever and creative people with now thriving businesses. Friends shortlisting in 2 different categories was ace, and she got framed certificates.
The lunch was a buffet, sweetcorn and cheddar soup, bread rolls, different salads (curried cauliflower salad was one!) cold cuts of meat, and cheesecake or dutch apple tart for desert.
Only problem was that there were not enough seats and no tables at all, so somewhat of a balancing act.
Still no joy from the wonderful choose and book, so back to see GP tomorrow.
Have to tax the car today, will perhaps be able to do it on line, hmmmm. Then check banking and pay credit card.
Bragg now, DGS got a certificate today, from school, a special award for never missing a homework all year! and congratulating him on its good quality.
Should make Tea but too cold to brave the kitchen yet xxxxx
MRSINVISIBLE hope you arent going down with anything and it was just you overdoing it that made you feel ill, haha love that DGS wants to dig up a tree stump (typical boys) and well done to him what a great achievement, i hope he is feeling on top of the world about himself, he deserves it. Thats a good thing your friend has framed certificates for being nominated, what a silly buffet to have with no tables to sit at, how are you supposed to eat soup standing up :rotfl:Own_My_Own wrote: »Today's quote

Yep, the St Patricks day meal was very tasty. DH was a bit stressed making it because the glaze took ages to reduce and he also spilt Guinness all over the cooker top (which is FILTHY anyway, but that's his domain to clean, so not my problem!)
Glad you enjoyed your meal. Any dessert left?We forgot about that, so just had a Baileys coffee instead.
Make your own wine? Hmm...hope you're making enough to go round! Did you wear green today? I forgot, but I was crocheting with green wool. Does that count? :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hello All!
Nan - I am so glad you took my words and are being good at resting. Stay safe beautiful lady!
I have been doing things off my to do list , me and my cousin and her other half went for lunch and errands , brought my mum a pandora charm for her bracelet for mothers day , already brought some posh perfume from the Xmas sales for mothers day , now planning a day of gifts , love and surprises . Hearing how she coped with me in a coma on intensive care was so hard. She done so well although she stayed in the relatives room whilst I was on the ventalater the second I woke up she was by my side. When I tried escaping during the early hours again at 4:30am after 16 hours or more at the hospital she came back to settle me. I am so greatful to have her as my mum she really is my best friend so this mothers day its deffo pay back time!
Anyway.. enough waffling on , I hope each and everyone of you are doing well! I still can't quite get the hang of my days of weeks or dates still the neurologist cant guarantee how long it will take to return but they know its due to the damage from the 4 hour seizure.
Anyway again I am still waffling on!
Nighty night hugs to all. xNanMias - cyber granddaughter!

Thank you, I will have a look as would love to accomplish a new skill this yearfingers crossed I manage to make something!!
Tiny snowflakes sound beautiful!Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:
Mum to two boys :heartpuls0 -
Betsie - hope you aren't in too much pain after foot op. I am having trouble with a painful heel at the moment. Went to gp and she has given me some exercises to do and told me to buy some special insoles for my shoes. Told me to go back if its no better in two months and they may consider injection. Have read on internet it can last up to 12 months - I really hope not. Had to buy some shoes yesterday as the ones I had were too tight with the insoles
. Well done on saving Mum and Dad some money. If I ever save Mum anything or get her a bargain I tell her I have to look after my inheritance. She knows I'm only jesting (thankfully) :rotfl:
freespirit - your meal sounds fab. It is so lovely to have an extra special treat now and again and even better if it involves discount/money off. Its also great to see how the other half live. :rotfl: Well done with your challenges.
mrsinvis - congratulations to your friend on doing so well at the awards. Lunch sounded lovely - I hate it too when you have to stand and have to try and balance plate/glass etc. Well done to DGS too on his homework certificate. It is so good when these things are recognised. :T
JJ - bet your Mum is going to love Mothers Day. You are so lucky to have each other. You both sound as though you are real gems. x
Just waiting for washer to finish and then I think I will have a walk down to Mums (not that far really) and try these new shoes out (keeping fingers crossed).
Have a good day everyone.

Good Bording I think I hab a cold!! (man flu?) serves me right for 'borrowing' friends garden bin. If I could have only filled my own I would have been outside only half the time.
DGS tried to dig up the tree stump, I was hard pressed not to laugh, he looked so determined, and the spade would only go in about 1/2 inch at a time, he gave in after about 30 mins, and said 'I've got its measure now and I'll finish it tomorrow' The optimism of youth, eh? thankfully it is raining so he can't.
Nearly time to get out of bed, I really dislike mornings for that reason.
My gran taught me to crochet, haven't done any in years, but you lot are inspiring me, silver snowflakes.
JJ I never know which day of the week it is either, so don't stress about it, theres something super about a week of Saturdays How lovely your mum is, and how lovely you know it too, what a treasure you are to her too. xxxxx0 -
morning all
hope the poorlies are looking after themselves or being looked after well
promised myself i will do a day of cleaning to catch up so will be pretty busy. i have 2 days worth of mse flylady lists to catch up with as well as stuff that lagged last week while gardening and sewing.
skirt was cut out and partly sewn up yesterday morning need to get lining and waistband stiffening before i can finish it off. Luckily i tried it on before sewing waist band on and i had cut waistband longer to allow an overhang for the fastening as the pattern showed edge to edge with a hook and bar across it which i dont like. did darts put zip in and side seams and could only do the zip half up it was miles too tight, luckily it had 4 darts in front so it now has 2 and the waist band still fits. thing is with clothes you can never really tell what size you are depending on where you get them ive got anything from size 12 to 16 in my wardrobe and they all fit!
hope everyone has something good in their daySPC~12 ot 124

Well my lovelies where is everybody? Goodness me it quiet?
Msgigglewick well I've missed youHow is your Grandma and your Mum? Argh bullying tutor- I do hope that's been dealt with. When you've stopped chopping yourself into little pieces for everybody else I hope you are squeezing a little "me" time in
Maybe knitting? xxx
Grandma is still holding on (though my uncle is hoping she lasts another 3 years but that isn't going to happen, he just wants her to reach 80 as thats a better age to die apparently :S) mum is coping. She has never been close to her mum but wouldn't wish what shes going through on anyone and knowing its not what she wants is playing on her mind. I'm hoping the tutor issue has been dealt with, will really see tomorrow if the promise comes about and jess had a formal apology (though i'm yet too) i'm still in two minds if to write a letter of complaint to the head.
I've been trying to get some me time.. an hour a day and the last week i'e used it to make this
