    Good Morning all

I've been reading every day but haven't had anything to post!

JJ, I hope they can sort your shunt without further surgery - you are so brave and positive, you are an inspiration to us all.

Well, my friend came for lunch and asked me to go to stay with her in Melbourne. I am thinking about going in 2016 - another reason to look for Christmas bargains!

It's my sister's birthday this week - she wants money towards a new vacuum cleaner! I have bought some chocolate, which I'm sure the children will help her to eat, as I like her to have something to unwrap.

I suppose I had better get up - it sounds stormy outside - I hope that everyone (and their property) are kept safe.

    Hi all.

JJ I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry mini rant time. I have been stitching every night working on SILs invitations and as well as that trying to think of a hen do idea for her. She hates nights out drinking and went to a spa once and sat in the corner with a dressing gown on refusing to join in as she is very body concious (sp). I wish I had her body she's a size 10 at most but that's another story.

Anyway she loves baking so I found a place in Chester where we can all go for afternoon tea and then have a cupcake decorating class. Spoke to MIL and she said it's perfect. Saw SIL yesterday and said I needed a list of who she wants to invite. I hadn't even told her what it was and she had the biggest most childish tantrum you have ever seen about not wanting a hen do and that her fiance is not allowed a stag do! DH didn't help as he started calling her names it was like being back in time when they were kids! Lol.

I took her to one side and explained it's not a traditional hen do it's more of an afternoon out with friends and family. She calmed down slightly but I can't help feeling that I'm going to a lot of effort for her and she is being very ungrateful and a little spoilt!

To top it all off before I left she mentioned that she's like me to stich thank yous for all the bridesmaids to be framed like I did for my wedding!

Ok rant over. Ha ha. Hope everyone else is well, hugs to those who aren't.

NICKI oh i love Rudolph Day i have saved it in my favourites, thankyou, funnily enough, i found 2 xmas hand towels yesterday i had to put away :D yes i am sick of seeing xmas chocs here, today in sainsburys it was nothing but flipping easter chocs, i couldnt even face buying any more choc yet :D

I've already started buying Easter chocs. I'm buying for 4 kids under 6, and my DD so I'm spreading out the cost and making it all completely disposable, no mugs/toys/excess packaging this year ;)

Oh and 3 of the 5 kids have birthdays in April as well which is why I've started now!
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • It is Burns' Night tonight so - Is anyone eating haggis tonight?

We had haggis, neeps and tatties last night for dinner (the OH is a scotsman) and to be honest (with plenty of gravy) I quite like haggis :) They're also nice and small to fit in the freezer and not bad on the calories according to MFP so double win :D

Sorry to hear your still in hospital JJ - I can't stand being sick so I don't know how you're coping with all that but you're a star looking after someone else whilst your so ill :)

Was thinking about popping into town today but it's piddling down outside and was blowing so much round the house this morning that I really don't want to and since I don't actually need to I will spend a nice warm day with my hot water bottle on the computer :)

Sorry I haven't posted in several days. I don't know where the last few days went!

You are a faster reader than I am! I seem to take ages to get through one book. Glad you're enjoying my recommendations, though. It does seem like we have similar tastes with books. My other favourite authors are Marian Keyes, Sophie Kinsella and Chris/Chrissy Manby. I loved Cecelia Ahearn's 'PS-I Love You' (the one that was made into a film), but her other books haven't grabbed me as much. Sophie Kinsella's 'Twenties Girl' was different than I expected, but very enjoyable. I have so many Kindle books to read. I'm going to start the new Bridget Jones one on my trip this Friday (assuming I don't get too travel sick on the coach). Do you have a Kindle, or am I muddling you up with someone else? Lots of good freebies/bargains to be had with a kindle. I had a Sony ereader, which is good for renting library books, but fiddly to add them to the device. Kindle is very easy.

Didn't realise your trip to London was so soon! Hope you have a brilliant time.
Obviously you've not got a huge amount of time to play with, but if you want a easy way to see some of the sights, the 23 bus runs from opposite the theatre, up past Trafalgar Square, through Piccadilly Circus, along Regent street, and along Oxford street to Marble Arch. Shame the Christmas lights aren't there anymore, but it's still quite nice to see the famous shops. Then you can get the tube from Marble Arch, or get another bus back.
Personally I love a boat trip along the Thames, but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. If you do fancy that, you can get 241 with your train tickets. http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/city-cruises

Covent garden is just behind the theatre and worth a wander round. Shouldn't be too far for your DH to walk. There's a market there. http://www.jubileemarket.co.uk/

The RV1 bus runs from just off Covent garden (Catherine Street) and runs quite a nice route by the London Eye, Southbank, Tower Bridge and should go fairly close to your hotel (unsure just HOW close-you might prefer to hop on another bus at Waterloo station to get closer). It looks like the 176 bus goes from your hotel to The Strand, but please double check with the hotel before relying on me! ;) Make use of the buses and hop on and off if anywhere looks good.

If there's anything else I can do to help, just ask. :) Will reply more promptly next time...promise!

I know planning a wedding can be very stressful and the smallest, silliest things can set off a tantrum, but it does sound like she's getting a bit OTT. Explain there will be no strippers/getting very drunk/naughty certain-shaped objects and maybe she will see that you're trying to create a hen do that will suit her. I had 3 in the end! One weekend away with close friends and my mum & stepmum where we went horse riding, had pampering treatments and had a medieval banquet, then another which was a day out at Chessington and a take away at my place. The last one was a meal out for the people who couldn't come to London (most of my friends lived in Gloucester and I had not long moved to London, so had a meal 'back home'). Nothing too rowdy/raunchy as it's not my thing.

As for the stitching...does she have any idea how much time it takes to do all this??? My Auntie bought me a small kit for christmas and asked at the start of Jan if I'd finished it! I explained that even a small basic card can take several evenings to stitch. I honestly think she had no clue about the work that goes into cross stitch.
It's fine if YOU chose to stitch thank yous for your own wedding, but to ask someone to do it for you is a big ask! Don't let her push you into agreeing if you don't have the time.

I'm not a haggis fan, personally, but DH likes it, so if I see any reduced, I'll get some for him to have. I noticed even the Wetherspoons pubs down here had haggis on the menu last week!

    Apologies for the long posts!!!

  • I have to admit I was one of the crazy people buying easter things yesterday! But in my defence it's only because we really like the ferrero rocher bunnies and we didn't get as many as we wanted last year so I went and got them yesterday because I found out Tesco are selling them, so that is those bought.

I have had a week off this week, and I haven't done half the stuff I wanted to, but I have done a large amount of not alot which is meant to be good for you :rotfl:

    Love and hugs to all!

JJ I am so annoyed for you I wish they had just referred you rather than have you be poorly now, feel better soon though lovely

I have told her that each invite is taking around 3 hours to stitch but I still don't think she understands just how much work it is. Would have had them done months ago but she only chose her colour scheme in December! I didn't agree to stitch the thank yous have just said I'll see how much time I have once invites are done. Making the wedding cake was also mentioned but MIL did step in and say 'I think she's doing enough!' :rotfl:
