I quite like useful presents. In the past my mum has bought me five litres of shampoo or she's bought it and we've halved it. I asked for a onesie this year. I also got stuff I hadnt asked for obviously but when you are skint which I am a lot of the time presents you can use are good. Nothing wrong with some fancy things either but I tend to know what my family will like or won't and vice versa.

My youngest asked if there was anything I wanted so I said I'd have a ketttle as the old one is on its last legs.
It might not be exciting but its what I needed and I'm happy.

Far from it being a form of bragging, it sounds more to me like a case of the Green eyed monster. :D. Simple solution is to not look at them. ;)

    Not just you mate.

The amount of money the ladies in the office have spent on their little cherrubs is madness.

New Ipads, mobile phones, Hunter wellies etc.

It's fine if you save up throughout the year to pay for it but the amount of threads I have read on here about people taking out payday loans etc to pay for it all is crazy.

According to one of the women, its so their kids do not get bullied at school, because if all the other kids have this expensive stuff, and their sprogs don't, they get bullied!

I think its crazy, especially seeing how kids treat things nowadays, with little regards as to the value of money, but as you have guessed by now, I'm single without kids :rotfl:

I wonder if in a lot of cases these expensive gifts are the parents trying to make up for the time and attention that they are UNable to give the children, due to both of them being out working.

As I said,I think my boy gets too much. Why would I be envious of more presents?

Oh dear god, what the heck is wrong with people that they have to judge and find (usually untrue) negative excuses for people spending a certain amount on their kids:rotfl:

Get a life people. It's Christmas, quit with the judging

I think its more a case of them not liking the idea of others having a happy Christmas, that everyone should suffer like they do, if they cannot find fault in those enjoying it , come up with probable ones instead, no matter how far fetched or inane the probability is. ;)

Why is it necessary to spend 100s of £s in order for the children to 'have a happy xmas'? It isn't. Simple as that!

What makes you think it's immediate?

Personally, like many others,I like sharing special things and when I see my friends put these pics up I smile not think 'omg they have more/less/they're bragging' I see and share their enjoyment and excitement.

    But then,I'm not a humbug :p

The OP started the thread at 4.51 this morning.

That suggests a certain element of immediate posting of pictures on face book, at that early hour of Christmas morning

It isn't. But it's no one else's business what anyone spends or how much their credit card bills are. I don't care how other's spend their money, I worry about how we spend ours. I don't post pictures of Christmas but I do usually of birthdays because my husband is usually away and Facebook is a way for him to see the kids get their gifts. Plus I find it a useful way to store photos in one place until I sort them onto memory cards.

I genuinely do not understand why anyone is bothered about what other people have or do.

I got my family a few things for Christmas this year, spent about £20 on them each so about £100 in total, but having spent the past 3 years to ill to work my mum pretty much forbade me from buying presents when I had a limited income, but I got a job this year and have been saving hard so I could "spoil" them this year, it's a huge thing for me to have my own obey and be able to so this so yes I posted pics on FB, not in a sense of look at all these presents, more because I'm proud of overcoming the difficulties the past few years have posed and feeling proud of myself for achieving something that for many years never felt possible.

I can't however defend the fact I posted a pic of my Christmas dinner, or a Christmas selfie :o though actually I found last years selfie and comparing them I can see the weight I've lost so actually did it I feel good about that too :p
