Just looking at some photos on friends Facebook pages and I'm amazed at the amount of presents that "Santa" has left! I thought we were meant to be in a recession.
Santa for me has always brought me pants, socks and a few crafty stuff with mum and dad buying me my main presents. Some photos look like he delivered half of toys r us though :rotfl:
So is it just me thinking this?

Not just you mate.
The amount of money the ladies in the office have spent on their little cherrubs is madness.
New Ipads, mobile phones, Hunter wellies etc.
It's fine if you save up throughout the year to pay for it but the amount of threads I have read on here about people taking out payday loans etc to pay for it all is crazy.
According to one of the women, its so their kids do not get bullied at school, because if all the other kids have this expensive stuff, and their sprogs don't, they get bullied!
I think its crazy, especially seeing how kids treat things nowadays, with little regards as to the value of money, but as you have guessed by now, I'm single without kids :rotfl:0 -
I must admit I have bought DD1 a nook, but this is to help her reading and writing as well as watch my little pony, but that's it. DD2 has a kiddizoom camera, all paid for from savings through the year.
If you can afford these then fine, but I know for a fact that they earn minimum wage and barely scrape by so looked towards credit cards/pay day loans for help.
It is disgusting peoples attitude towards money nowadays. The Outlaws sold their house as they were in so much debt. They've finally finished an IVA and the first thing they do? Book a holiday! They turn 60 next year and once retired, will have no extra money so I'm guessing they'll live off the state. Or us (not that I'd ever let that happen).
Ah wellWhat's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
Is that normal to take photos of the presents? I don't do it but noticed a couple of friends o Facebook did. Looked a lot but then I've prop spent what some people would concider a lot on my 3 children. I tried not to go too mad though and no electronics at all lolHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Like many people, every year, I tell myself that I won't go mad, really meaning it, every year I do! The reason for the quantity though is that I end up buying many items that I would have bought between summer and now, but hold it to make it a present for Christmas. New warm pyjamas, socks and underwear, hot water bottle, sport clothing, new jeans, books etc... There isn't one item that is above £20. So although it feels like I spend a lot, it is mainly that it is just all in one go. Saying that, I would never get into debts for it. I can afford to do it, so won't spend January feeling low wondering how to pay the credit card.0

It is now yes. Its all to do with keeping up with the jones. The whole "my child has had more and better presents than your child". Facebook is just a place where people create the false impression that they live perfect lives with lots of money.
in cases like this, the polar opposite is usually true0 -
Well I didn't photo mine but will take photos while opening them for my mum who is not able to come spend it with usHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Taking photos of your kids opening the presents is different as you'll look back in years to come and say awww, weren't you cute, not awww, look at all the presents "Santa" bought. :rotfl:
Hope you have a lovely dayWhat's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
I'm surprised at the amount of iPads, tablets, laptops etc that get given to wee ones. I've heard of more than one 4-6 year old getting them this year and to me it just seems like a wholly inappropriate present to give0
