off to vegas in a couple of weeks and have a question someone im sure knows the answer to looking to visit the hard rock hotel and wondered how long it would take to walk down from east harmon or would it be better to jump in a cab many thanks

I've never used it and not sure if it ever gets full and they restrict it to hotel guests but there is a shuttle.

  • Has anyone else noticed over the last couple of days SocialRewards has 'nerfed' (or for those not hot on geekspeak, reduced) the value of their rewards. The most common points reward has been reduced from 25 to 20. Although that seems insignificant a 20% reduction is quite big!

Also, vids used to all be 25 points, now they seems to all be 10/15 points. I guess its inevitable (like MyVegas), that as a scheme gets popular they make it more difficult to get the rewards. Ah well, still freebies
Currently saving and planning for the holiday of a lifetime to Vegas in summer 2014!

5 Nights @ Flamingo -> 1 Night @ Lake Mead -> 2 Nights @ The Grand Canyon -> 3 Nights @ The Mirage -> And Finally... 1 Night @ The Salone Fountain View Suite, Bellagio
  • Yes the points have gone down, it will take a lot more spaming Facebook feeds for freebies now.

Yup, however its not spam if you set their posts to only be viewed by you ;)

I don't mind too much anyhow, can't complain with $100 in under 5months! Still 6months til I go too! :j

do any of you LV lovers have any great memorabilia, etc. in your house?

i'm thinking of buying a load of $1 chips to frame as picture...

just wondering if anyone has anything similiar, for inspiration!

Whenever there was a big heist, they used to change all the chips to a new design. So you may be able to pick up old chips, eg $100 chips, for a few cents.

good thinking! you can pick up current sets on ebay, etc. so can have a collection of contemporary ones, but would be great to add some classic ones as well :)

we have several silver strikes - most won from casinos when the silver strike machines were much more common than they are now...several from casinos that are either gone or renamed...at $10 face value each they aren't the most economical momento but we like them. :)

We also have a big box of change buckets from ye olde times when the machines spit out coins and you carried them around in plastic buckets...I bought the lot on ebay years ago for dirt cheap and somehow I love them...I keep meaning to think of something to do with them, maybe something in the garden, but I figure that they will just end up fading if I do that.

When we first went to Vegas,we collected a plastic coin bucket from all the casinos,as said, back in the days coins still paid out.
We also collected the used cards from each hotel that are in every gift shop going.Still have the playing cards, but the plastic buckets were thrown out when moving house.
I loved the Vegas memorabilia exhibition that used to be in the Tropicana.
Items from all the old Vegas casinos, going back to the old days.
Pity they don't have something like this anymore,I'm sure it would still be a big tourist attraction to see vegas nostalgia.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a chip collection for myself...
Had the same thought last year, but everytime I collected a $5 chip to save, I somehow managed to spend the different chips at there casinos before leaving! :D doh!

Question is, where do you look to find the old chips ?
