    Anyone heard of readysim.com/shop.html

It sounds interesting, and the monthly price is similar to my usual T-Mobile plan. Mine has the advantage of keeping the same number and free UK calls, but it looks like a good option for many of you. Found it on VMB, a Brit on there has used it successfully in NYC, so may be a good bet.

They list stockists at several on strip locations, Fashion Show Mall, Venetian, Caesars, 7-11, Planet Ho, Stratosphere, Tropicana, Excalibur, and several others.

I too saw that on VMB. However I'm personally going for this: simcardguru.co.uk/product/sim-cards-for-the-united-states/t-mobile-usa-pay-as-you-go-mobile-phone-sim-card

It comes with $10 credit and they take $2 or $3 per day depending on if you go for faster or slower mobile internet speed. It comes with unlimited calls to US mobile & landlines, unlimited texts and unlimited data. And no contract!

Another reason I'm looking at this, is that I can get the Sim card whilst I'm still in the UK, so my phone will be ready to go as soon as I land, rather than having it wait to buy it over there.

£26 is quite a lot for a sim... do you know anyone in the US? I had a friend over there order me 2, and mail them over to the UK. The sim cards in the US were free (or possibly 99c).

or unless you need a sim the moment you're in US network range, then picking one up from a store should be easy enough.

also be sure to find out if you have to activate that simcard, which might only be able to be done in the US?

I've looked into this further. I didn't realise Ready Sim will deliver internationally for free! This changes alot. It does seem like a much better deal after doing some maths on both deals!

Gonna look into this more I think before making a decision, still a long while off before I go anyway
  • I've been looking recently at going to Vegas. The only thing I need to stick to are the dates which are 9th to 15th September. I would ideally like a hotel that has decent facilities and is on strip. The top 3 things I would like are:
    1. good pool area
    2. good sized room
    3. easy access to a casino (if not in the hotel, I'd like it to be connected to one with a casino)

    Any suggestions from anyone?

I was looking at the ARIA and Vdara last month and the prices were pretty reasonable for the above dates, but they've gone up about £100pp now! Wish I'd booked. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Well I resisted reading the thread until now but couldn't help myself.....

2014 will be the first year since 2001 that I won't be going to Vegas:(

I'm trying to convince myself a year off will be fine but having read the thread I now really want to go. I'm still playing myvegas for what its worth...

So jealous of you lucky people!

Sorry to be vague but most hotels have a decent pool area, but it depends what u mean by good.

Big? Landscaped? loud ie party scene?

Mirage has a very nice pool area, it also has good sized rooms as do most Vegas hotels but again depends on your definition of good sized, most standard sized rooms are around 400/450sq ft but the likes of the Venetian are around 750 sq ft(from memory) and has a nice pool.

also all hotels with have bigger rooms if you are prepared to pay or even use the $20 tip

Apart from Vdara and Trump all hotels have a casino so they all have easy access to a casino

I have a T-Mobile pay as you go SIM. T- Mobile are very flexible. if you download their app, you can switch plans as often as you like. Last trip I paid $60 a month for 200MB at 4G and free international calls and texts. The $10 credit would only last a few short days, (3-5) and then you would need to top up.

As photome says, what do you mean by 'good' pool area? Vdara might not be the one for you in that case. It's a relatively small pool, but a nice relaxed atmosphere (not a pool party atmosphere) but good contemporary music piped through in the background, good drinks service, can usually get a bed without much problem. It reflects the boutique feel of the hotel.
  • Talking of mobiles in the USA, has anyone used Three's Feel at Home Service?

Is it as simple as turning on you phone when you land?
