Thanks for the info on this - I've just seen that the Sterling Brunch for 2 is an available reward at 17,000 points. I've wanted to go since before our first trip in 2003 but have never quite managed to justify the cost to myself (or DH, more importantly haha!)

So far, I've got 200 points so I've a way to go

Any tips on maximising point collection would be gratefully received, or is it just a case of plodding away retweeting etc every day?

EDITED: Sorry, another question! I've just noticed that you earn points separately for each programme but in the 'points information' bit, it says something about points moved from another programme. I can't find any info on how to do this though. Is it possible to move all your points to one programme and if so, how? Thanks :)

I think social rewards is worth it, I have $70 saved up and I have been doing it since May this year. Your 3 shares are refreshed once a day, have a look for the higher shares first ie 15 points instead of the 5 point ones, some shares occur more frequently. Also watch the videos too. Make sure the adults travelling with you on the trip also join it.
My plans to go to Vegas are up in the air just now, but i would have put it towards a meal in a nice restaurant or a show.

My fear of doing them online would be one would be done and when we went to do the second the availability of rewards flights would be gone.

And OK, I know I tend toward extreme paranoia about these sorts of things...but it could happen.

We are in a similar situation with considering booking reward flights for June (also not to Vegas) but neither has enough miles for both after our 4x March reward flights were purchased so if we do push the button I think we will call.

    I know what you mean!

I asked the guy about this (really helpful, even gave me his extension number) who said to just give them a call and they can take the miles from both accounts and put them onto the same booking :)

We booked ours online last week from two separate accounts. I was sat with the laptop and hubs was on the PC - we did a 'one, two, three' countdown before pressing each button! I was still worried one would come back as a 'no' but thankfully all was well :)

Also, we checked before booking and you can cancel a reward flight for full credit of miles with no admin fee within 24 hours. As we were really flexible with dates (anytime June - September) we were willing to take a wee risk!

That is a fair point...if it went wrong we wouldn't be out anything...I hadn't thought about that before. I prefer booking things online vs on the phone so maybe we will give the two device thing a try. :)

We have had to cancel our Vegas holiday (lowcostusa) for Nov as by chance noted that BA changed our connecting time back up to Edinburgh from 2 hours to 8 hours. BA said we could go via Glasgow but it would cost us £200 each if we wanted an earlier connecting fight. So we decided to cancel.

We are now looking at the United flights from Edinburgh-Newark-Vegas, but the connecting time at Newark to Vegas is 1hr 45 mins, has anyone done this route and is it doable to get our connecting flight??

    Thanks in advance

United messed about and changed our November flights with them.
We have now been given a 90 minute layover. This is at Washington Dulles.I ranted at United about this as I do not think it is do-able in 90 minutes, having been through that airport at least a couple of times.
They said it was the minimum they were legally allowed to use for connecting flights. We may manage it,we may not,but got to admit that extra 15 minutes you have between connections would have made me feel a lot better.I would say on 9 out of 10 flights we have had with connections 1.45 hours have just about been enough.
Of course a long immigration line,or slow baggage reclaim would push it very close.

Queues have been long for us in Newark in the past so it's not my preferred airport to connect in, , especially on a short connection. That said if you miss the flight I'm sure you would be put on the next one. If stuck in an immigration queue you can always ask security staff to get you through if you will miss your flight. I've seen that done in Newark.

I can PM you the name and extension number for the guy at Virgin I spoke to if that helps... he was lovely, really helpful and is a Vegas regular (takes his mum too!)

Thanks, that would be great particularly if it does him any good (I don't know if they have any targets, etc.) since he's established himself to be nice and helpful.

Thanks for the info, I had a wee check and there is a couple of flights to Vegas afterwards in case we don't make the connection. We were in immigration for 1 1/2 hours last year at McCarron, so am caution about these short connection times.

    Thanks again

Just my opinion here but for the sake of saving maybe a hundred quid each I would prefer direct flights. No messing once you take off get some shut eye and land in your destination.
