Talking about canceling VS reward flights, my mum has serious health issues at the moment so we have had to cancel our October trip, spoke to someone at Virgin, all 200,000 miles returned and they even waived the fee.
There was an internal connection involved that was a cash sale so unfortunately we have lost that money, but I really can't leave my mum right now.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

sorry to hear that stoneman
but sounds like good customer service... I think I'll book our flights then for Easter, and if we have to take a £60 hit for changing our minds, then sobeit
(sadly not a Vegas trip! i need to work on that...)
when booking reward sale seats... is it easier to phone them up and get them to make 2 bookings at the same time, rather than login online, book one person's flights, logout, login, book the other person's flights? will they do that..?0 -

I take it there aren't enough miles in either account to buy the whole trip for two people?
I think if you ring they need the other person to be near the phone so they can use their miles and IIRC they will align the booking onto one PNR.
On-line is a bit of a faff but you won't have to hang on the phone
Once you've done the separate bookings you could ring to get them aligned.
Or you could book Outbound for twp people from one account (same PNR)
The book Inbound from the other (same PNR)

very sorry to hear about your mum, stoneman
...it's nice to know that Virgin waived the fee in the circumstances, not a huge amount of money but a nice gesture during what must be a hard time for you.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

unfortunately not enough miles, it would have to be one booking each (about 38k in each account, about 28k need each).
just spoken to Virgin (needed to call them about some missing miles) and the really helpful chap said it's best just to give them a call and they sort it so it's all on one booking. recommended not to transfer miles as there's a charge for that.0 -

My fear of doing them online would be one would be done and when we went to do the second the availability of rewards flights would be gone.
And OK, I know I tend toward extreme paranoia about these sorts of things...but it could happen.
We are in a similar situation with considering booking reward flights for June (also not to Vegas) but neither has enough miles for both after our 4x March reward flights were purchased so if we do push the button I think we will call.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Think I am going to buy the groupon, the restaurant gets good reviews
I cannot remember if you said if you bought the Riviera Steakhouse Groupon - if so, can I be nosy and ask how it was and if you made a reservation or just turned up?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Well I'm very pleased to say that we're heading back to Vegas, it is all a bit last minute because my business commitments are keeping me very busy, however after a trip to New York (business), I arrive back in the UK Wednesday to fly back out to Vegas on the Friday.
I also decided to be savvy about this trip as I really enjoy getting the best deals.:D
So flights (economy) are out direct and not so direct on the way back. Combo of unbelievable price for flythomascook and a reward flight with taxes to pay via American Airlines. Used a few Avios, 50,000 for us both but the BA flights were 65,000 and more money...?
Flights for us both return have cost around £650 for both, not each!
Because I was a dufus and didn't grab my lovely comp rooms via Total Rewards ( they disappeared by the time we made our mind up) we've now gone for back to back booking via B Connected Boyd properties.
It's a 13 night trip, we've got 12 covered as comps with various food and freeplay allowances thrown in from $25 daily to $10 daily.
The sticking point is the first week (November) is the mega convention week and prices have gone crazy.
Anyway, it's pretty sorted now, car hire £174.00 for the duration with Dollar, I'm an Express member so will walk right by the lines and head straight for the booth, travel insurance £46.00 for us both for a year.
Esta's still in date.
I'll be taking my little friends aka my Restuarant .com vouchers yet again for a tripI think it's their fifth or sixth trip...must.use.them.
We have 2 million between us in MyVegas gold coins to use up.
I'm looking at Groupon and mulling over a couple of things.
We are packing light, list of things to attempt to do this trip, get to Hard Rock Casino (never been), eat at Black Bear Diner, eat at Crab House, eat at Milos lunch special, learn a table game...thinking craps.
We're staying at a combo of Suncoast, Sam's Town, Orleans and. Ballys and I have just one night to sort which is our arrival night 31st October.

We have had to cancel our Vegas holiday (lowcostusa) for Nov as by chance noted that BA changed our connecting time back up to Edinburgh from 2 hours to 8 hours. BA said we could go via Glasgow but it would cost us £200 each if we wanted an earlier connecting fight. So we decided to cancel.
We are now looking at the United flights from Edinburgh-Newark-Vegas, but the connecting time at Newark to Vegas is 1hr 45 mins, has anyone done this route and is it doable to get our connecting flight??
Thanks in advance0
