How are they allowed to say it's direct on the website?
Could it be stopping for refuelling?
Edit: now they have disappeared off the site after being there for the last 3 days. Strange. I'm assuming it was stopping at Heathrow though.0 -

A direct flight is not the same as a non stop flight0 -

Okay, thanks for clearing it up. Websites should give you the facility to search for indirect, direct and non-stop! I know Manchester doesn't do 'non-stop' in November which is why I suspected something was up. Skyscanner just displays indirect in red and then a nice bright green for 'direct' which I now understand means absolutely nothing! Back to the drawing board.0 -

A direct flight may have a stop, and the onward flight keeps the same flight number0 -

Checking the flight duration can help...should be about 10-11 hours if non-stop...Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Also just to add that AA have dropped quite a few of their mid afternoon flights from Chicago to Vegas, we have just fallen foul of it and now arrive at 11.05 pm in Vegas on Sunday.
I had a massive row with the guy from Expedia (Indian call centre) who told me it was because AA had cancelled flights - then I went on AA site and seems it is true :-(Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -
We fly a week on Sunday, starting to get really excited now.
Hoping to do a bit of shopping while we are there, hopefully get some nice bits and pieces for Christmas presents but have seen there's a few outlets in Vegas (North, South and one at Primm(?) and wondered a) if they're worth it and b) which is better?0 -

AA should accomadate you on just about anything as it is their decision to change- See if they'll move you to the LAX direct with a domestic on to Vegas instead.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
This assumes you'll have a car:
Primm is on I-15 at the Nevada/California border. It's about 45 miles from downtown Las Vegas, all very easy driving once you're clear of the city.
Map: https://www.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Las+Vegas,+NV,+United+States&daddr=Primm,+NV,+United+States&hl=en&ll=36.011339,-115.584412&spn=1.803995,3.630981&sll=35.468534,-115.531229&sspn=0.007148,0.014184&geocode=FdXoJwIdChsj-SnRffWkgre-gDGjebPV5tXMOg%3BFZ1kHwIdslkf-SmRKc99BUTPgDEAjeJXF3kSAA&oq=primm&mra=ls&t=m&z=9
If you continue on I-15 past Primm into California there's a long steady straight climb up Mountain Pass. If you use California exit 286 or 281 to come off the interstate and then re-enter it in the opposite direction then the view from the top of the pass looking down towards Primm is magnificent (this photo doesn't really do it justice):
