You may find they want to authorise (but not take) and ring-fence a few thousand pounds on a debit card, particularly if you don't have their insurances. If you don't have that money in your bank account, it may decline.illegitimi non carborundum0

I had a reply which says:
You will redeem the the reward when you check in and it will be valid for 48-72 hours. You shouldn't have a problem using the reward that evening.
Which goes against what becksta said they were told here (for some properties):

For you, worst case I should think if you went over to the mlife desk at Aria in the morning before checking out of Vdara and had the buffet loaded to your card then...you are a hotel guest at the time and once it's loaded to your card then I would think it would be OK.
But it seems like no one really understands the rules with all the conflicting info out there.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Just planning shopping spree in 2 weeks time and see that using a mastercard opens up a few more offers

Also get rolling bag if spend 750 with mastercard on the day.
Has anyone seen what extra discounts this offered. I'm already with VIP club and have printed the coupons I may use.
Was also looking at The Bank nite club price list and saw:
CORONA (6) 50
I presume this means 6 bottles for 50+10 tip. Do they not sell single bottles?0 -
Always made worse by the annual "AA incompetency" (and grumpiness!) at LAS but we made it in the end and a letter of complaint to BA and AA will follow that up (he argued I wasn't Sapphire - despite having my card, a picture of the status, and a date well within validity, and refused to up my baggage allowance to 2 x 32kg, forcing us to re-pack whilst at the desk... embarassing - apparently the computer never lies so it must be me that's wrong and he wouldn't contact BA to clarify!)The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

Well we walked on the strip for the first time this trip last night. Had so much else to do.
Been hearing about trouble at mgm and hard rock last night. We considered going to hard rock last night but thankfully didn't.
Stopped by Indigo Lounge at ballys. Got 2 vodka sevens. Used 2/1and TR points. Was $14. Would have been rather expensive drinks if just walking in and paying.0 -
I think Sapphire (BA Silver) allows 2x23KG not 2x32KG, unless you are onward traveling BA in First, then you are allowed 3x32KG
(See frequent flyer section)
We did use the first class AA checkin desk at LAS and tbh, I'd be even more annoyed if I'd paid for miserable service like that! Lol0 -

I was trying to find the source and it's a bit odd that it's under LA but hey...shame they don't have one for the south outlet but would be interesting to know if the MC offers are the same as those either in the VIP club or the coupon book you can also pick up. I can't actually read what the offers are.

Ferf - they had poster adverts up at the north outlets for the MasterCard too... I'm sure it said it was only $150 tho (unless the offer has changed, or I was going blind!

I been to Vegas 3 times in past 4 years...
I don't have a credit card, I have my normal Visa Debit & a prepaid credit card which allows for Holds/Auths, etc (FairFX).
Used ALAMO and Dollar for my bookings (booked over here with usrentacar, or Alamo.co.uk, netflights, etc)
Alamo on 1 occasion took my VISA debit and charged $1 to it, last year they wouldn't take visa debit and took my Prepaid card, and charged $1 to it..
Dollar used to charge $1 to both prepaid and visa debit, although this year had a shock, as they changed there AUTH values..
They now charge $350 AUTH, regardless of whether for 1 or 7 days hire, and even if u include fuel/Xtra driver, etc (meaning theres nothing they can really charge u for anyway)....
So that's Dollar off my list..
Get Prepaid card, and book with Alamo.co.uk or a decent UK broker for Alamo rentals.0 -
the website says it allows 32kg for cardholder (only) - http://www.britishairways.com/en-au/information/baggage-essentials/checked-baggage-allowances

But then your link seems to contradict that. This seems to be the vain running through the various threads.
I did come across this once and was told by the agent that AA's limit was 50lbs. because the handlers weren't allowed to lift anymore than that (dear loves). Luckily we were only a few lbs. over in each bag so she let it slip.
But.... If you are flying with a Oneworld carrier and the transatlantic portion allows a higher limit (as in the case of flying F with BA 3x32KG) and connecting onto AA then the higher limit takes precedence, so AA MUST allow your heavy luggage to travel unhindered.
Must say I have never had any problems with AA staff, they always seem to bend over themselves to help, which I found out when my TP run hit turbulence last year and it took me 2 days to do instead of one.
Will report back in March when we fly F to LAX then on AA to LAS, and Tracy will be using the allowance to the max.:rotfl:The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.
