We are going in Feb next year. Got £500 worth today from M&S , rate was $1.647 so was happy with that. Will probably get some more before we go. We are big card users. We are doing Vegas for 5 days and L.A for 5 days. Any ideas/advice on how much $$ to take. Not expecting to do too much in the casinos but I'm a sucker for pretty flashy things so that may go out the window LOL

Used Navfree USA on latest trip. Absolutely useless! ...no tell a lie, I'd give it about 2/10 ..once in a blue moon it worked to a usable level.

The APP definitely uses no data whtsoever, so no cost at all. Downloads for states need to completed before use. Nevada, Utah and Arizona were pretty big files! (Download before you leave UK)
Co-Pilot app was also absolutely useless.

That is all i thought you needed to use google maps
Without data, or without maps, all that the GPS service will tell the device is something like -1.5392 32.4384 which is where you are. Not a lot of help if youre trying to get somewhere.

Three allow you to use uk tariff in USA which is great if u have an unlimited data tariff.

I may be wrong but although unlimited here, I think it is limited to 250Mb in the US, double check just in case.

    EDIT: Forget that it's 25GB.............I knew there was a 2 & a 5 there somewhere. :)

I did think there would need to be a cap but that's pretty punchy!

I checked the App Store and the US sat nav Tomtom is listing at £30 at the minute. Really come down over the last few yrs.

been to Vegas 8 times in last 10 years, done just about everything, going to do something like this next time.

I have stayed in a villa on 4 of my visits and love it, ranging from 4-7 beds depending on how many of us went. I got spoilt having own pool and hot tub and not having to worry about getting a sun lounger! We always booked through https://www.vrbo.com with never any problems. This was our last one in 2012 http://www.vrbo.com/200383ha.

I made this face  when I saw the price per night then I read Sleeps 18. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I'm just looking at Groupon just now (I shouldn't really be looking at Groupon!!!), and I see a deal for $40 per night for Alexis Park - only a few blocks from the strip. Decided to look it up to see where it was and what it looks like. I actually looks decent. Never heard of anyone staying there though.

Has it been mentioned on here before?

I've also noticed a deal for Aliante Station. Looks nice (similar style to Red Rock Resort). Anyone stayed there?

Yes it was rather expensive and there were 11 of us but my lovely mum paid for most of it :)
